i love delancey but there are some things you need to know going in. delancey is the restaurant of somewhat famous food blogger/author molly weisenberg and it has become a hotspot for locals and tourists alike. this means if you are not there right at 5 you probably are going to have towaita while. the inside is very small and quaint but tastefully done. and the food is all outstanding! sometimes i just don't want to fight crowds to get pizza so i scratch it off my list.

on a saturday night, after a long hard run, i wanted pizza. the black knight had never been to delancey’s, which some say, is the best pizza place in town. well, on a saturday night at 6:30, we were going to find out...
to the real question, is this the best pizza in seattle and is it worth the two hourwaitin the freezing cold for it? it is definitely one of the top contenders, depending on the type of pizza you like. the closest comparison in its class is serious pie, but this crust is just a little more delicate than serious pie and the ingredients are simpler. there’s any airiness in the crust that no other place has been able to replicate...

i finally got to try delancey in ballard and i loved my experience.  what's not to enjoy? i consumed my three favorite things-pepperoni pizza, a cosmo cocktail and a chocolate chip cookie with sea salt. delancey is a new york style pizza place in ballard and is named after a street in new york.  the restaurant is owed by molly wizenberg, the writer of the popular food blog orangette . they open at five, so if you don't want towaitfor a table you need to start waiting in line at a quarter to five.  we stood in line in the rain and waited and then we scored the very last table, lucky us.  otherwise, thewaitwould have been an hour and a half, delancey is that popular.  when i tasted the pizza, i understood why.  it was the perfect consistency of cheese and a ton of pepperoni.  the sauce was mild with just the right amount on the perfectly thin, charred crust. this pizza may just top my favorite pizza ever and i've eaten a fair amount.  my husband had a pizza with anchovies and he dran

neighborhood gem!. delancey is a charming little neighborhood restaurant specializing in wood fired pizza. it is also, of course, the place where molly of the beautiful orangette blog designs tantalizing desserts!
the pizza is simple, with a thin crust and high quality toppings. there is a great wine selection. the desserts are fabulous.
they do not take reservations for parties under 6, so you do either have to go and leave your cell number orwaitfor a table. it is worth it though!

oh my!. just came back from an amazing culinary experience at delancey's. i have travelled and lived all over the world (including most of italy) and i can honestly that the pizza at delancey was the best i've ever had (hands down). the crust/dough is the equivalent of sea salt caramel in terms of saltiness, sweetness,. crispness and 'come together' perfection. the topping was just the right amount whilst still allowing me to use my hands to grab it and not to have it all over the place. oh...the short wine list is rather fab as well. and wonderful staff. apart from the fact that i have towait2 more day to go back (they are closed mon/tue) i can't think of any downsides. thank you!!!

all about the dough. we were torn between delancey and another pizza joint and determined to give it a go. we waited the inevitable hour, and thewaitwas well worth it. the joint is more simple (design-wise) than i anticipated, but quite charming. i imagine a tourist would believe they found a "local" joint here. the pizzas were tasty - the sauces sweet - the dough divine. a crusty mix of flaky and almost doughy. loved it, although the chefs may kill me to know i added salt to every bite. great salt, though. not my favorite pizza in the world, but worth the wait.

over rated. most of the seattle mags. (stranger, seattle weekly) have praised this as the second coming of pizza. it is just not the case. i my opnion it is no better then tutta bella. i like both places. they both are very good and would not protest in going back. thewaitcould be a killer.

olive oil bursting tomato-y goodness. we entered the restaurant at 8:05pm on a sunday night and were greeted with a sweet smile by the hostess. there was a 15 minute wait, which we thought was a sign of a good restaurant. the salad was the perfect size and super light and refreshing. the tomato pizza sauce was so amazing, it tasted as if the tomatoes has just been picked fresh off the vine minutes before being spread over my pizza. i got the margaritta and i loved the bites of, olive oil bursting goodness that hid under the melted fresh mozzarella and basil. such simple yet high quality ingrediants, if you closed your eyes during a bite, you could be in naples. i loved it and can'twaitto go back. oh and the bittersweet chocolate chip cookie with gray salt was sooooo good. fun!

really?? its just pizza. not worth it, it's just pizza and not that good for what it takes to get in. they claim the nyc connection is what drives them. no where in nyc will you find a pizza place that has 1-2 hour wait, cost as much or people that are so full of themselves. come on guys its pizza. if you live in the area and can walk there, waitfor a long time for pizza, pay a lot and feel good about self centered staff you may like this place. if you have to drive to get there, try somewhere else.

i travel a lot and have many opportunities to enjoy fine pizza and this is not the place. really guys you are pizza throwers lose the attitude, clean the place up, add take out options, and make real pizza.

just ok. i've been trying to go to delancey for months now, but could never bear the 1+waiton your typical evening. tonight, i ventured over to the restaurnt at 4:45 and lined up with several other people. how crazy is that??

the service was great - the ambiance was cozy and comfortable. the beet salad was really incredible, though i was pretty disappointed to see the burrata app wasn't on the menu. the pizza was just ok. crust could have been crispier on the bottom, though the chewy top was pretty nice, despite being a little burnt.

we tried four pizzas at our table:
margherita ... very saucy and hardly any cheese. bland
crimini ... bland.
procuitto - good meat
pepperoni ... probably the most flavorful at the table, but that's not saying much

we closed out the evening with one of the famed chocolate chip cookies with grey salt ... good (i mean, how bad can you make a chocolate chip cookie), but the salt wasn't very pronounced and for $4, i was expecting a little more "wow" factor.

the end bill for our table was over $110 (with just one drink each). pretty spendy for pizza that's is just mediocre.

i think this would be a great neighborhood spot, if you could actually walk in on any given night. overall, it's good but definitely not worth all the hype.

fantastic food and lovley atmosphere. after returning from a trip in italy and stuffing myself with pizza on a daily basis, i came back to seattle and was so very excited to try out delancey. i was not disappointment. my group and i got a few different kinds of pizza and shared them all. this was a good plan for us because it gave us the option to have a variety of the very creative kinds of pizza that were offered at delancey. i would recommend this dinner spot to anyone who loves good food and a cozy atmosphere! just make sure you show up early because thewaitcan be a while.

gourmet goodness. it's not often you're going to see wild boar bacon and chanterelle mushrooms atop a white pizza pie. the selection of odd toppings along with the tasty, if a bit doughy crust, make delancey worth a visit or two. very kid-friendly. open and light interior decor. go early or expect towaitfor one of a dozen tables.

no dough!?!. being from the ne, i have been looking forward to trying this new spot. seattle's pizza scene has come a long way over the past 5 years. but there is still nothing in town that comes close to replicating a ny slice.
saturday night, we organizzed a small crew of friends and headed 20 minutes across town to delancey for dinner. we arrived a few minutes after 8 p.m. prepared towaita bit if necessary. to our total amazement, the cook and hostess told us unapologetically "we don't have enough dough for you to eat here."
in my book, that is nothing short of pathetic! they have been open for a month and dough is made from flour, yeast and water. we're not talking about running out of a special on maine lobster. all i can say is get it together people. it will likely be a long, long time before we venture the long drive across town to try this spot again. let's hope they get a clue.
