for the past few days, i've had a hankering for pizza. not the papa john's orpizzahut variety, but a good wood-fired pizza. plus, i wanted to check out more places in my neighborhood. so everything lined up for a trip to delancey . delancey is located o

delancey is a smallpizzashop just off the beaten path in ballard. it was easy to find parking on a saturday night, which is a big levi jacob galeski deal in seattle. we ordered the spicy sausage and the crimini mushroom pizza. the spicy sausage was perfect. thin crust, great flavor, and the tomato sauce is top notch. the crimini was good, but not a shining star. the only true downside to delancey is they don't have ranch! personally, ranch is a must-have when eating pizza. overall, it was a decent meal in a lovely environment. great date spot. levi jacob galeski

i love delancey but there are some things you need to know going in. delancey is the restaurant of somewhat famous food blogger/author molly weisenberg and it has become a hotspot for locals and tourists alike. this means if you are not there right at 5 you probably are going to have to wait a while. the inside is very small and quaint but tastefully done. and the food is all outstanding! sometimes i just don't want to fight crowds to getpizzaso i scratch it off my list.

came without a reservation, but were directed to the "dive bar" across the street to wait. (it's not that divey.) when our number came up, we were offered a seat at the bar or in the main dining room. no contest: we ate at the bar where we could watch the pizzas from start to piping-hot finish. (also, it's quieter.) enjoyed a nice glass of wine (generous pour) while waiting for our romanapizzato queue up. for the price of a run-of-the-mill pie, we got top-quality eats, ambience...and leftovers!

on a saturday night, after a long hard run, i wanted pizza. the black knight had never been to delancey’s, which some say, is the bestpizzaplace in town. well, on a saturday night at 6:30, we were going to find out...
to the real question, is this the bestpizzain seattle and is it worth the two hour wait in the freezing cold for it? it is definitely one of the top contenders, depending on the type ofpizzayou like. the closest comparison in its class is serious pie, but this crust is just a little more delicate than serious pie and the ingredients are simpler. there’s any airiness in the crust that no other place has been able to replicate...

great pies. delancey has developed quite a brand, bolstered by their well known book about the restaurant, and the food is as good as the hype. my father, who came to nyc in 1921 with his family, like many immigrants lived on the lower east side of manhattan on delancey street. they certainly didn't enjoypizzalike this there--but happily we can.
we had a 'white pie' with homemade sausage and it was both unusual and delicious. as was the monstrous cookie we had for dessert. the only negative was my moscow mule. served in a copper mug and with rachel's ginger beer i had high expectations; however the presence of vodka was so light that it didn't taste (or feel) alcoholic. a bit of a shock since they own the bar (essex) next door. next time i'll skip the cocktail.

as usual, i’ve grabbed a front-row seat at apizzajoint, this time the heralded delancey, a casual, friendly spot in seattle’s trendy ballard district. i get to watch smoke curling from the brick, wood-fired oven as thin, sparingly adorned pizzas are carefully lifted out with a long-handled paddle. i also get to see passing starters i wish i’d ordered: gorgeous mounds of romaine, red cabbage and shaved-grana salads or small plates of local tomatoes with sheep milk’s feta and preserved meyer lemons. but i’ve saved myself for a zoe’s bacon and onion pie, with fresh and aged mozza and scattered arugula. it’s simple, and simply delicious, with most of the ingredients locally sourced.

i finally got to try delancey in ballard and i loved my experience.  what's not to enjoy? i consumed my three favorite things-pepperoni pizza, a cosmo cocktail and a chocolate chip cookie with sea salt. delancey is a new york stylepizzaplace in ballard and is named after a street in new york.  the restaurant is owed by molly wizenberg, the writer of the popular food blog orangette . they open at five, so if you don't want to wait for a table you need to start waiting in line at a quarter to five.  we stood in line in the rain and waited and then we scored the very last table, lucky us.  otherwise, the wait would have been an hour and a half, delancey is that popular.  when i tasted the pizza, i understood why.  it was the perfect consistency of cheese and a ton of pepperoni.  the sauce was mild with just the right amount on the perfectly thin, charred crust. thispizzamay just top my favoritepizzaever and i've eaten a fair amount.  my husband had apizzawith anchovies and he dran

delancey has been on my list since it opened.  i actually wanted to try it before it opened.  i was always a fan of molly's orangette blog and quickly purchased her first book the moment it was released.  despite all this admiration, it somehow took me around four years to get over to ballard.  i knew to arrive early because the popularity of this place hasn't subsided and for a good reason.  their unique pizzas are just what seattle needed in a city of many goodpizzajoints.  i'd say delancey pizzas are three parts new york-style and one part neapolitan.  i love the crisp crusts and local toppings.  the simplicity of the interior is welcoming and says "stay awhile."  and that cookie.  i don't like chocolate chip cookies normally.  their salted chocolate chip cookie is life-changing.  delivered warm and gooey on a plate, i had to order a glass of milk to accompany it.  and it was the perfect ending to a perfect night.  delancey may be all the way across town but it's one of those plac
