waterfront restaurant with superb food and sweeping views of sydney harbour. the chermoula covered barramundi fillet with freekeh, roast cauliflower, mint and pomegranate salad was perfect and the service was warm and hospitable. bookings are highly recommended for weekend visits to avoid disappointment. we had actually intended to visit for breakfast but arriving at 11.30am on a saturday, the restaurant was preparing forlunchservice. guests, however, are welcome to wait and coffee and sweets are served until the commencement oflunchservice at midday.

i first visited deckhouse to check out its potential as a function venue on the weekend. i was really drawn towards the lively atmosphere of the cafe. as a result, we decided to return for breakfast on a weekday to take advantage of the quieter environment and the lovely water view.

the menu on zomato is out of date and you'll find the most updated from their website.

i chose the breakfast bowl as i was after something fresh. the dish was tasty but was more rich and intense in flavour than the fresh and light impression it gave on the menu. the egg was cooked the way i like it, the onsen japanese style. the pickled cauliflower was also delicious. the 'crispy kale' is deep fried and quite oily and i would have liked a bit more quinoa. i'd definitely order this dish again but i'd ask for fresh instead of crispy kale.

the highlight of the big breakfast dish was the duck sausage, so tasty! other elements all pretty standard but well prepared. the tomato relish was quite strong in flavour and we found it overpowering.

deckhouse is in the entertainment book where you'll receive one free dish when another of equal or greater value is purchased.

revisited to try theirlunchmenu. service is excellent just like previous visit. tried three different mains - barramundi, trout and lamb.

there was a bit of drama with the barramundi dish as the thickest portion of fillet was all stuck together. i asked the waiter about it and was told it's undercooked and he took the dish away and explained another will be remade. later, another waitress came and explained it was supposed to be like this. i was really confused because i was being told different things. in the end they brought another of the same dish, and it was cooked very well and flesh did not stick together.

the trout with roe was yummy but salty. the lamb was very tender, i would recommend this dish if you are a fan of lamb. we also had a serving of their chips with aioli, not cheap but it was very crispy with nice batter and seasoning.

i visited deckhouse a few times and disappointingly the menu has not changed a bit. so why did i keep going back you might ask. it's all about location location location! the restaurant has a great view over look the harbour so it's perfect for selfies or postcard photos! make sure you get a window seat to enjoy the harbour bridge view. the food at deckhouse is ok. salmon and scallops are slightly overcooked and the sauce is bit plain but i do like their panna cotta and banana parfait. overall it's a pleasant place to enjoy a lazy longlunchwith family and friends.

expecting nice coffee &lunchat woolwich deckhouse cafe with water view this sunday afternoon 26th june, we were greeted with ignorance & unprofessionalism from 1 of the older gentleman servicing customer. we visited the bar area, asking the lady bartender if we could have coffee here & sit on the outside area. she said that is fine. as soon as we open the door to outsideluncharea, a dismissive grey hair male attendant told us, u should have talked to me 1st. we said u r not here, the lady told us we can sit out. u can order ur coffee here at the counter. we told him we haven't seen the drink menu yet. r u here forlunchtoo? we might, again we have not seen the menu. then he asked where outside we r going to sit, we said we have not been in there, we don't know. he reluctantly let us in the verandah to choose a table. he then said he'll bring out the menu. 7minutes later, still no menu. we decided this place not worth our time, he is no where to be found at the front counter. after greeted by such a power tripper of a reception, who in the right mind will ever come back or recommend this cafe to anyone else?! no apologies for not being in the counter, no welcoming smile, how on earth he is in charge at the forefront!? this is customer disservice & i will strongly discourage anyone from even getting their morning tea at deckhouse cafe!!

our good friend decided to have their birthdaylunchhere, expecting great view accompanied with good food.

wrong... great view yes but good food was a let down. for what you pay for it definitely was not value for money. example was my main, blue swimmer crab and scampi pappadelle with dill, lemon crème sauce it was so bland! there was barely any crab and scampi almost non-existent.

service wasn't the greatest with the staff picking up our food without asking if we were done, and bringing out extra cutlery half way through our meal.

in addition to the above for some unknown reason they decided to cut the cake before it even got bought out for the birthday girl. how irritating and unprofessional!

overall experience is not pleasant wouldn't come back. there are a lot more places with gorgeous views and food to match.

a lovely spring day in sydney and an impromptu decision tolunchon the waterfront led us to the deckhouse woolwich. magic location.
we were grateful to the waitress who cleared a window table so this melbourne girl could enjoy a perfect view across the bay to the sydney harbour bridge.
the food was delicious! i had the special - swordfish with potato mash and a butter sauce with teeny tiny little sweet tomatoes.
a view to die for, great food and wine and impeccable service (along with great company) made a wonderfullunchcombo. i heartily recommend the deckhouse.

how not to manage a walk in. we have eaten here many times. we arrived, at 9.30 on a sunday morning, without a booking to an almost empty restaurant (with harbour views). after being asked by three different wait staff if we had a booking we were handed over to the maitre d who asked us if we had a booking. we were then ushered to a crowded rear side deck with a view of the marina (without harbour view). we felt that was our punishment for not booking. we ate breakfast. it wasn't bad, but not worth another visit. as we left a couple of tables in the restaurant had been filled but most were still empty as were some of the tables on the front deck. we won't be back for breakfast, we might considerlunchbut we will make sure we book and won't be taking the side deck.

had somelunchhere a few days ago and was not impressed at all, sure its in a nice spot on the water but it is overpriced for what they are serving.

staff were not attentive had to flag some one down to take my order after waiting for ages and then the same again to bring the bill. the place wasn't even half full
no water refill and no check on the food. was going to get some dessert but the staff were too interested in talking to each other or a couple table of what looked like regulars.

won't be going back thats for sure

what a disappointment! terrible decor for such an expensive restaurant!. i was so excited to have a booking for sundaylunchwith my family. as a group of 5 we were shoved in the furtherest part of the room away from any view even though there were empty tables next to the windows. the decor is terrible. no table cloths, cheap looking tables and chairs, and to top it off cheap paper napkins! we quickly ordered mains only which were ok for some dishes, except for my husband who had the tuna which consisted of 3 small slices. the wine and aperol spritz were small servings. following mains we quickly left and were relieved of well over $200.

lunch group set menu review. had a largelunchgroup booking. the waitress was extremely friendly. had the perri perri chicken for entree, it was quite nice, but not as nice as the asian prawns which my partner had. for main meal i had the rib eye, it was supposed to come cook medium, however was rare. that was the only real downfall of the food. the set up of the restaurant was lovely, and had wonderful views.

the most unprofessional cafe i have ever been to, 2 of us showed up at about 10:55am for breakfast and was told that they.close breakfast at 11am even though it clearly says on their website breakfast is served until 1130, then we were told we couldnt order any food for another hour as they didnt servelunchuntil midday, we left as our experience was upsetting, we travelled a long way to get there and was treated like we didnt matter, will never ever come back here
