intrigue brought me to the doorstep ofcurebar. i was reviewing james beard award recipients and was excited to see nola bar listed as such. i went with a friend and we journeyed uptown to this quaint hole in the wall, there was no signage and we literally thought the gps was fooling ya. we walked into such a beautifully decorated bar. the drink menu was jazzy and listed page after age of wonderful delights. i was torn between the two dudes and a cadillac and between the sheets. our table water was room temp and an epic fail in our book. we had to flag the waitress down for our tab and there wasn’t much in way of actual food to eat. the between the sheets drink was amazing and the place lives up to the hype about the drinks. i would only return for the drinks.

i was super excited to eat here! i've driven by many times and have always wanted to go in. everything on the menu looked so good; we ordered almost everything. this wine bar also has an excellent choice of scotch. i love the ambiance with dim lighting and leather couch seats.curewe started off with goat cheese stuffed dates wrapped in pancetta. these were so delicious! the sweetness of the dates complimented the pancetta in the background of goat cheese and it was coated in a syrup of dates. goat cheese stuffed dates bacon and bleu cheese tartine w bayley hazen, louisiana honey, bacon and onion jam. the bacon with blue cheese and onion is no stranger, but the hazen and honey were a new and much welcomed spin. bacon and blue cheese tartine spicy jamaican meat pie with chicken, coconut curry, barbeque sauce and house made orange coconut soda. the coconut curry was a little on the weak side, but i really loved the barbeque sauce combination with the

if you are a lover of craft cocktails this is your place. we arrived on a saturday night at happy hour with a small group. all of the cocktails we tried were outstanding and they even have a daily punch which was equally outstanding. unfortunately, i cannot remember all of the ingredients in the daily punch but it did have champagne and fresh raspberries. the bar itself is warm and inviting and not pretentious. our group sat on the corner of the bar where we were introduced to ryan who is one of the most adventurous and innovative bartenders we’ve ever met. he took the time to explain each of the unique ingredients he was using to craft our cocktails. his timing was impeccable-- when you were down to the last few sips of your drink he would arrive and start the process of creating another fabulous drink. after we tried most of the drinks on the menu ryan started to resurrect some of the previous cocktails crafted at cure. needless to say, they were perfect. since this establishment was our pre-dinner cocktail stop we only had a few of their small plates. the duck liver pate was smooth, creamy and flavorful. the other outstanding dish was the home made pimento cheese and hand cut potato chips. i would definitely recommendcureif you’re looking for a unique craft cocktail bar and have the time to explore new orleans outside the french quarter.

great new professionals bar. dropped intocureto grab a quick bite to eat since we were in the neighborhood and their menu on urbanspoon looked unique. must to my surprise the menu online and the menu we were given didn't match. apparently they change their menu periodically and the dish i really wanted to try (roast sweet potato soup) was no longer available. after mulling over the drink and food menus we decided on a short rib "debris" sandwich and some bar snacks (bacon wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese and moroccan spiced nuts). the food was alright but the portions are really small for the price and the service was almost nonexistent. the cocktail menu is far from the everyday same old same old but is geared to a very particular audience that i guess i am not in because nothing peaked my interest.

i'm amused at the reviewers who are disappointed thatcureis not a dive bar - as though all places in new orleans must cater to the lowest common denominator. leave the shorts, flip flops and the stained 'i'm with stoopid' tee shirt at home.cureis a moderately upscale place with good drinks. the waitress was a little slow but overall it was a great experience. smoke-free and music that doesnt drown out the conversation. nice courtyard and a good crowd.

pretentious. so pretentious. maybe it's just not my cup of tea (or should i say spritzed with a smoke flavor and lined with the essence of herbs cup of tea). if you want trendy, cureis your spot. it's in the 'up and coming' area of freret and brings in all the cool kids. i mean, the only artwork on the wall is an anatomical drawing of a cockroach. i just don't get it. i was uncomfortable the entire time and unwilling to pay the ridiculous prices for drinks. i made my boyfriend leave and take me to finn's. i guess i'm just not classy enough for cure.

the decor was great and i loved the music. you can't go wrong with a michael jackson loop in my opinion. the drinks were decent. my aviation was shaken a bit too much. the flavors of the alcohol were dimmmed a bit from over chilling. my friend ordered a dark and stormy. one was a hurricane with way too much dark rum. the second was the calm before the storm with little rum. the would also benefit from a higher quality ginger beer or make their own if they don't. the lack of consistency was frustrating. our waitress was sweet but a bit cluess about the cocktail offerings. the tapas were not exciting. the crawfish empanadas were dry and the filling nothing but bread crumbs. the drizzle would have done best over the empanadas not on the plate. our waitress recommended the crab sliders. epic fail! the worst coleslaw i've had in my life! the crab was filled with shells. the buns were delicious and well toasted though. they were nice enough to remove it from the bill and send a duck dish to our table. i'm unsure of the exact name but it was a bit of duck with tons of diced sweet potato. it was tasty if not exactly thrilling. the kicker was an extra $10 surcharge on our bill for "labor and garnishes." i didn't mind the price buy couldn't you just say the cocktail is $10. i had no garnishes and i had to go to the bar to get straws. what labor? what garnish? we only went tocureto avoid the essence fest madness. if your uptown and want a cool vibe with friends, go. otherwise go to bar tonique. they have a great staff and superior cocktails. i'd go back tocurewith a friend who wants a metro vibe. i'd never go by myself b/c the owner/manager was creepy and hovered at our table in an odd way.

it'llcurewhat ails you. this is a serious bar, not pretentious but they take what they serve you seriously.
ever get frustrated with sour mix, maraschino cherries and all the other gunk that is so frequently mixed in with perfectly good alcohol?
if you answered yes thencureis the place for you.
the interior is gorgeous, the food is solid and substantial and the drinks are sublime.cure stands shoulder to shoulder alongside the best bars in the u.s. like the violet hour in chicago, bourbon and branch in sf or flatiron lounge in nyc
