though this fairmont may seem unassuming from afar, it's grandeur can only be experienced once you arrive. the entire space is expansive, with lovely views of the creek. set in the far right end of the lower lobby, past some amazing views and world renowned dining spaces, you'll enter cuiscene which also is quite expansive in itself. they even open up their outdoor seating (which apparently isn't enough during breakfast) to make space when it gets really busy. though i came on a saturday for lunch with a groupon, they recommended to try the theme nights, which happens to be their best seller.
lunch was a quiet affair, only because it wasn't busy, but just like the hotel the buffet spread was massive. i didn't realize after a first good look at the buffet that i missed the salads and desserts as they were tucked away behind the mains in the center. you are definitely spoilt for choice, from arabic to asian to indian and some more. that said, nothing really stood out for me. the roasted chicken, cajun spiced potatoes, aloo pasanda, steamed calamari, cheesy pasta with ragu and salads were the only few items i came back for seconds. however, you'd feel full by the time you sample everything, so it's a win win situation. but its still good to have stand out dishes that could be the star of the spread and have people talk about the buffet more. the desserts were pretty good, as they all tasted quite natural and not overly sweet, except for few of the arabic ones. thank you peace for tending to us, you were amazing.
overall, cuiscene is a greatplaceto relax and wind down as the restaurant had a slow pace to it, with a beautiful view to back it up. the food is good, the spread is amazing, and it could really do wonders if they up the ante in terms of flavor.
i'd love to come back try their bbq night (as it's got outdoor stations and live grills from what i hear) before i make my final verdict though.
