we live in asheville and this is our go-to place for a date-night or special occasion or when the kids come home. it is consistently the best food in town - and we try them all. the service is top notch and the dishes are created with care and expertise. we've eaten here literally over a hundred times and on the one occasion that a dish wasn't our favorite, it was quickly substituted with something else spectacular. our favorites are pizzas, pork chops and any veggie dish, but themenuchanges every day so we like to try it all!

cucina 24 asheville, nc

we were on our way to raleigh, and decided to stay over in asheville.
our daughter had told us about cucina24, and we called and made reservations.

we were seated at table #16, which gave us a partial view of the kitchen, and a better view of the pizza preparation and cooking area.

this section of the kitchen, consisted of a wood burning brick oven, that was stoked by the hard working lady, making the pizza's.

as a cocktail, my wife had a superfruity $10.00, and i had a hendricks martini, $10.00 while we took in the atmosphere, and reviewed the menu. the 7 o clock crowd began to
arrive.

the bread sticks caught our attention, long and seasoned just right, sticking up from a glass on the table, like flowers.
themenuhad a notice "ourmenuchanges nightly to ensure the freshest local and seasonal ingredients".
a good sign, i thought to myself.

we decided on the burrata mozzarella appetizer $12.00, and 2 farm greens salads $14.00.

we had no idea what burrata mozzarella was, but accepting the suggestion of katekyn, our server, we were more than willing to try it.

the burrata, was a delightful appetizer, both cold and warm, and the taste was out of this world.
this was followed by one of the freshest green salads; i have had in a long time.

then, we waited and waited. it seems that since we had ordered an appetizer, salad, and a main dish, the chef had placed our order for the main dish on the back burner, so to speak, and forgotten about it. as i said, the place was busy now, and i suppose they were just overwhelmed.

we called our server, and she was apologetic, but at this point a good 30-45 minutes since our salad, we decided we were ok, with just leaving. we were not in the least bit disappointed from a satierity point of view. just the opposite, we were completely satisfied.

should your travels take you to asheville, n.c.
i would suggest you visit this restaurant, and prepare yourself for a fine meal in a very warm atmosphere, cared for by a great staff.

it's ok... if you enjoy pretentious jibberish. i feel like as a person who loves food i'm supposed to like cucina24. but, i don't. touted as "foodie heaven"/local ingredients/all the right words. theirmenuis pretentious, staff the same. i've been maybe 5 times for dinner. i've never heard of over half the items on the menu. i jokingly asked the waiter if they made up some of the ingredient names .... roasted garlic funnellike rassenberry rabbit tail encrusted pecan volanaise..... i'm kidding, but not really. that's what themenulooks like. & then when you ask what something is you get a death stare 'are you kidding me?!' or the waitstaff has no idea themselves. the food comes & it's just so so. all this hype over a meal which is only ok & you have no idea what you're even eating. oh, & it's quite expensive. a lot of attitude, no real delivery. save your money, plenty of other great restaurants in asheville.

best in town.. the gf and i dine at cucina about once a week. not once have we ever been disapointed. the food is unmatched by anyplace in asheville. the service is always on point. on our last trip we noticed the chef had added a porterhouse for two to the menu. although, we were not expecting to get a steak, the chef talked us into it. let me tell you. this was the best meal i have ever had. the steak was finished in the brick oven, and topped with a head of roasted garlic. to add to the steak was a homemade chianti butter, which might have been better than anything that i have placed on my tongue. although, the steak is to die for, there is never a bad thing on themenuand the specials are alway creative and great. the brick oven pizza is just like in italy, the pasta is some of the best i have every had and proteins are as fresh as you can get. cucina 24 is hands down my favorite place in asheville. i would make this my last supper. enjoy.
