not impressed. very small portions for the price. we all walked away feeling a little cheated. the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything that made it stand out. ashville is a very competitive food city and you really have to wow people. i wasn't wowed. didn't hate it, but probably wouldn't return.

zombie and taste of maine drinks were awesome. oysters were outstanding. however, both paled in comparison to the flank steak and quail. both dishes were simply amazing. flavorful, tender and great portions. can't wait to go back. the brown cake and sea salt gelato were incredible. our waiter, rich gave excellent recommendations and service.

absolutely excellent!. this is the closest in asheville, you will ge to a nyc/manhattan quality italian restaurant as i grew up in nyc and then spent 26-years in nj with frequent visits to nyc eateries. the quality and freshness of the food is exceptional and service impeccable by knowledgable native italians, which there is nothing better to serve you. they take traditional dishes and modernize them where i would call this cusine modern italian. the staff will also create special requests to cater to people like myself who have food allergy problems, with no problem. the whole experience is great. a little pricey, yes, but you get what you pay for and in this case it is well worth it.

asheville – not as in “uncooked”, but as in hard to find, italian cuisine taken to the next level. that is unless you’re talking about this steak tartare sent out to us by chef brian canipelli at cucina24. thank you, chef!. after meeting up with friends for dinner at sovereign remedies, we decided to head over to cucina24 for a(nother) drink and perhaps a little more noshing. mind you, these friends are slightly crazy foodiots, like me: a pr company owner who reps restaurants, a professional food photographer, and a well known local freelance writer who frequently covers culinary subjects.

we live in asheville and this is our go-to place for a date-night or special occasion or when the kids come home. it is consistently the best food in town - and we try them all. the service is top notch and the dishes are created with care and expertise. we've eaten here literally over a hundred times and on the one occasion that a dish wasn't our favorite, it was quickly substituted with something else spectacular. our favorites are pizzas, pork chops and any veggie dish, but the menu changes every day so we like to try it all!

a few weeks ago i attended the asheville wine and food festival, which was one of the best food events i have ever experienced, as far as a “taste” of a city, but i’ll tell you all about that in another post. today, i want to tell you about some of the food we experienced on our own. we didn’t necessarily have full dinners at all of the places, but they were noteworthy enough to share with you. not only is the food wildly creative, eclectic, slow, and locally sourced, if you are eating downtown, you can eat outside, which makes all food taste better. there are probably more outdoor cafes per capital in asheville than anywhere in the united states, because the population is only 80,000 people. on friday nights, the downtown buzz begins with a drum circle , which is amazing in itself, but on nearly every corner, there is someone playing some great music. in other words, there is a special ambiance to the downtown scene . it’s quaint, yet grown up, not small town, not big city, yet it’s h

sorry was not impressed. i ordered the mussels - i received a huge bowl of mussels - but no bread and the sauce was very bland. when i asked for bread, i received some rather dry bread with olive oil/balsamic vinegar that seemed a little stale. another member of the party ordered the chicken with mac cheese - the chicken was very good - but a very small portion and the mac cheese was under the chicken - only 4 noodles with cheese sauce! i think i should've ordered the pizza - but will not go back to see.

nice place but didn't wow. we ran into a local who recommended this place and since it was already on my wishlist we gave it a try. the ambiance was great--very well decorated and had a nice glow to it. the kitchen was open to viewing, so i enjoyed watching the pizza chef make them and place them in the brick fire oven. the prices were a little expensive, but not astronomical. i had the pizza, which was okay. not the best pizza i've ever had so i was kind of kicking myself that i didn't try another dish but nothing really caught my eye on the menu. my fiancé ordered the smoked duck breast. he really enjoyed it and found it very tender and tasty. i wish they had offered some bread and olive oil to start the meal.

the crust on this pizza was super thin and crisp. i loved this pie. it’s a pretty expensive pie at $17, but i would come back to get it again. in my personal opinion the best pizza is cooked over a wood fired oven.
