cucina 24 asheville, nc

we were on our way to raleigh, and decided to stay over in asheville.
our daughter had told us about cucina24, and we called and made reservations.

we were seated at table #16, which gave us a partial view of the kitchen, and a better view of the pizza preparation and cooking area.

this section of the kitchen, consisted of a wood burning brick oven, that was stoked by the hard working lady, making the pizza's.

as a cocktail, my wife had a superfruity $10.00, and i had a hendricks martini, $10.00 while we took in the atmosphere, and reviewed the menu. the 7 o clock crowd began to
arrive.

the bread sticks caught our attention, long and seasoned just right, sticking up from a glass on the table, like flowers.
the menu had a notice "our menu changes nightly to ensure the freshest local and seasonal ingredients".
a good sign, i thought to myself.

we decided on the burrata mozzarella appetizer $12.00, and 2 farm greens salads $14.00.

we had no idea what burrata mozzarella was, but accepting the suggestion of katekyn, our server, we were more than willing to try it.

the burrata, was a delightful appetizer, both cold and warm, and the taste was out of this world.
this was followed by one of the freshest green salads; i have had in a long time.

then, we waited and waited. it seems that since we had ordered an appetizer, salad, and a main dish, the chef had placed our order for the main dish on the back burner, so to speak, and forgotten about it. as i said, the place was busy now, and i suppose they were just overwhelmed.

we called our server, and she was apologetic, but at this point a good 30-45 minutes since our salad, we decided we were ok, with just leaving. we were not in the least bit disappointed from a satierity point of view. just the opposite, we were completely satisfied.

should your travels take you to asheville, n.c.
i would suggest you visit this restaurant, and prepare yourself for a fine meal in a very warm atmosphere, cared for by a great staff.

it's ok... if you enjoy pretentious jibberish. i feel like as a person who loves food i'm supposed to like cucina24. but, i don't. touted as "foodie heaven"/local ingredients/all the right words. their menu is pretentious, staff the same. i've been maybe 5 times for dinner. i've never heard of over half the items on the menu. i jokingly asked the waiter if they made up some of the ingredient names .... roasted garlic funnellike rassenberry rabbit tail encrusted pecan volanaise..... i'm kidding, but not really. that's what the menu looks like. & then when you ask what something is you get a death stare 'are you kidding me?!' or the waitstaff has no idea themselves. the food comes & it's just so so. all this hype over a meal which is only ok & you have no idea what you're even eating. oh, & it's quite expensive. a lot of attitude, no real delivery. save your money, plenty of other great restaurants in asheville.

lunch on 3-8-2012. two of us had lunch here on thursday and enjoyed the total dining experience. both the lunch and dinner menus change daily and are both quite eclectic.

not many patrons that afternoon, apparently just recently opened for lunch. service was excellent (natalie), nice wine list and the food was very good!!!!

tender meatballs!!. i have been in town visiting and this is one of my sister's favorite place. we had their made in-house mozzarella and house cured olives for apps. i had their procuitto and veal meatball and she had their bolognese. all food was exceptional and cook to perfection. service was above average, but not great. however, we let him decide on our wine and he did not disappoint. would definitely recommend, especially if your an italian food junkie!

cucina24 is a beautifully decorated and conveniently located on wall street in asheville, north carolina. many asheville restaurants are well known for their use of local farm products and cucina24 is no exception. the twist is that chef/owner brian canipelli uses the local food to make innovation italian cuisine. he states on his website: the freshest seasonal and local ingredients highlight cucina24's menu. the farms and ranches of western north carolina help add local flavor to classic italian tastes. it's been some time since i dined at one of chef brian's tables so i had a good reason to take my wife and friends in for dinner prior to catching a play at the asheville community theatre . since we were early we landed one of the tables beside the window facing patton avenue as well as the open kitchen. perfect for watching everything - like dinner and a show before going to the show. pig trotter and foie gras terrince this was the first experience at cucina24 for my wife and friends

tonight, we had a wonderful experience at cucina 24. my friends had already had a good experience, so we went together. we all had delicious meals, everything cooked to perfection. the ingredients are fresh, and flavorful. the grouper was fantastic. the pizzas were authentically italian, with a thin, thin crust. it was a little noisy, but it's a friday night. the service was good, although our reservation was lost, immediate accommodations were made. great experience! will definitely be returning.

fantastic dinner; impeccable service. had the pleasure of visiting cucina24 for a date. both my date and i were blown away by the level of service, the menu, and the chef's efforts. the server was incredibly knowledgeable of both the wine list and the rotating menu; her recommendations were spot on. the house made burrata with heirloom tomato sorbet, the swordfish, and the figs with goat cheese were highlights of an amazing meal.

i would certainly dine here again . . . looking forward to my next meal.

favorite in town!. blows me away every single time! we usually save this one for special days though, b/c we do splurge when we go, but i crave it always. special places are reserved in my heart for chefs who love food and love to cook it and present it in a way that says so. the servers here are great too, and always have good advice for choosing wine to go with your meal. i am partial to chianti, but they do have some other really tasty selections.

glad we didn't miss it. i had originally canceled our reservation the night before because i didn't feel well. the next night we wandered back when i felt better and caught them still open. the food was amazing. the wood burning oven pizza was out of this world. everything was so fresh. even the croutons are made on premises. the waiter was very friendly, attentive, and informative.

very! rude host. we went last night and have to say we are happy we did not stay. the host was so rude it was pathetic. after 20 minutes we decided to just leave. will never go back. good food should revolve around good service. thumbs down for cucina 24

although we are regularly on wall street, i haven’t been inside the cucina24 space since it was akumi (i.e., a few years ago). the interior is classy wood and romantically lit; we were sat along a row of windows with a view of patton avenue, which was bus
