decent food - horrible owner and waitress!. a group of friends (4 women) from my office went this week after work. our waitress was not exactly friendly and seemed like she was doing us a favor taking our order. we had the pizza and salads and each of us had a couple glasses of wine. the service was slow and the food was alright. we paid our bill (including a 20% tip) and sat and talked for about 10 additional minutes when the owner came to our table and told us that "this isn't a coffee shop! if you want to sit around and talk, go to starbucks!" to say we were shocked would be an understatement! to top it off, there were about 5-6 empty tables in the restaurant! one of the ladies told the owner she had never encountered someone so rude only to have him respond "yes, i'm a rude person!" needless to say, there are way too many other places to go in this city and none of us or our friends will be coming back to this establishment!

after several tries, still not won over.... amy and i had an unpleasant first visit here before, but so many of our friends spoke so highly of the restaurant that we decided to try again. the ravioli appetizer was ok. i appreciate the handmade dough, but the cheese filling and the sauce was bland. also, we thought the dough was thick. the other appetizer of sausage filled hot peppers were also bland. amy had a salad that was over dressed yet still under seasoned. the pesto pizza was pretty good though. the crust was well cooked and the flavors were right on. lastly, when amy checked our bill, they had mis-priced the bottle of wine. if we didn't check, we would have paid more than the menu price. all in all, the pizza was good, but everything else just kinda fell apart for us.

best italian food in cleveland. absolutely wonderful riceballs, pasta, and pizza. however the best part of the meal is the nutella pizza for dessert.

...i stopped by crostatas this weekend on the way home from bainbridge to pick up pizza, one margherita and one salsica (sausage). the crust is by far the best we’ve had in cleveland.  they imported a wood-burning pizza oven from italy, which creates a deep caramelization and smokiness.  i always leave over pizza crusts, but i ended up eating these along with the slices. we weren’t quite as excited about the toppings.  the sauce is pretty mild and the portioning is  scant.  we would have liked our pizzas better if either the sauce was more bold or the portion more generous.  sarah’s verdict was that the pizza “had so much potential.”  the overall flavor is improved with red pepper flakes, but really good sauce has enough flavor as to not really need them. crostatas has good pizza, and we’ll definitely get it again if we’re in that part of town.  it’s doubtful that we’ll make the 25 minute trip from

i've been here a dozen times before. food is great but the sevice is progressively worse. recently walked out while waiting over 30 minutes for my chicken salad. not once did the waitress stop back to give me a status on my dinner or offer a refill on the drink. when leaving i expressed my frustrations to hostess who simply said. 'i'm not your waitress'. 11-2-16; 5:30 pm.

good pizza, salads and pasta, but bad service. wait staff needs to pay more attention to the customers. we were ignored and never received refills on drinks.

a true neapolitan pizza!. i treated myself to a 100 mile round trip drive to sample crostatas' neapolitan pizza after getting out of hospital today. i ordered a margherita d.o.c. with san marzano tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, basil and evoo that was baked in their artisan constructed wood fired oven.

it was outstanding! the crust tapered from the subtle, soft and chewy center to a crisp and flavorful cornice made from caputo 00 flour. the tomatoes were bright, full bodied, and definitely san marzano's. the mozarella, di bufala, was smooth as silk, with a sweet overtone. i sampled the parmesan in the shaker, and it was definitely freshly grated.

i just ordered a coffee, and when a caffè americano arrived i was pleasantly surprised. it was excellent also, by the way, as was the waite staff. i also appreciated my conversation with angelo at the counter as he described the construction of their prized oven and how long it took to "temper".

you will not be disappointed by crostatas if my experience with the margherita doc was any indication!

they also sell the very hard to get caputo 00 flour for the home pizza makers.

we are often heard complaining about the lack of good pizza in the area. we finally found a place to end our complaining. now we’ll complain about having to drive to highland heights to get good pizza because it’s not exactly close to home. but drive we will to enjoy their traditional thin crust pizza made with fresh ingredients.

not good. my husband picked me up from work yesterday and announced that moss man reviewed an italian restaurant on the eastside and we were going to try it out. we dine out frequently and have been to many, many restaurants in greater cleveland, and the world for that matter. we never mind paying top dollar for top dollar food and service. the waitress was very matter of fact and not friendly in the least. we both ordered the cavatelli (my husband opted to get the meatballs and extra $6.00). when our food came i thought it was a joke - it looked like a side dish of pasta ($15.00). salad was separate - not included. the waitress never checked back with us asking how the food was. we got her attention to ask if bread was included with the pasta and her response was, "only if you ask." she brought us two breadsticks on a big plate and wasn't very cordial about it. all in all we paid a lot for not much. our local pizza shop has excellent pasta, salad, and bread for under $9.00. we wil never return and will spread the word so that are many friends don't make the mistake we did. thank you.

stopped for lunch friday july 20th. very basic menu with limited choices and seemingly high prices. sandwiches were a lá carte. had the "gondola" and at $8.95 it was tasty and fresh but the cost of an undersized sandwich costing 9 bucks kept me from enjoying it. probably won't be back.

crostatas has the best pizza this side of the atlantic! also delicious (and generous in portion!) are the salads and other appetizers (my favorite, the grilled eggplant, my husband's are the arancini). the servers are lovely. the wine list, while short, is impeccable. the perfect place for a wonderful meal.

amazing pizza. i'm surprised to read so many negative reviews of crostatas. granted, if you are looking for the perfect pizza hut or chicago style pizza, this place is not for you. the pizza is authentic. the oven is actually from italy.
so yes, if greasy, heavy, pizza with processed ingredients is what you crave, skip crostatas - or get appetizers and desserts. they are also fresh and wonderful.
i took my very particular father here, who is first generation italian and he was very impressed.
the pizza crust and breadsticks are second to none! my personal favorite is the sausage pizza, nice and simple, but i've never had anything short of great here. the staff is also always friendly. i eat here with my family about once a month, and usually for lunch. never a bad experience yet.

awesome. if you love delicious, authentic italian food, you'll get it at crostatas. you can taste the flavor rich, fresh, high quality ingredients in every dish. i love the homemade cavatelli (my favorite) and ravioli. this has become our favorite restaurant for dine in and take out. kudos to the great chef and staff.
