second time eating here. the food has always been great! but thisplaceis relatively small, and they get very busy after 5 pm. if you have more than 4 in your party be prepared to wait! the excellent bar next door helps ease the wait. both the bar and the restaurant have a very nice atmosphere. i ordered the gumbo ya-ya and crawfish etouffee. the gumbo was really good, a nice dark roux with lots of chicken, duck, and andouille sausage. the etouffee was buttery and spicy. we were all stuffed when we left, but we were already planning our next visit for more delicious food. only next time we'll split our party up and be eating in half the time!

have always had a good meal here; thisplacehas been a favorite over the years - something i can't say about their snooty sister, purple parrot. as a non-seafood eater, i appreciate the wide-ranging choices on the menu.

i've heard various complaints about ccg over the years, but hubby & i always have a great meal here -- such a large and eclectic menu! they're still one of my favorite places; just wish they'd take complaints to heart so more of our friends would want to eat there when we do!

exceptional dining experience. i am not in any way familiar with hattiesburg, but the army brings me to this city for a week and already i can make this determination: crescent city grill is the best restaurant for the money here.

there are 4 restaurants inside of this building, all are owned by the same person and all use the same kitchen. so the quality of the food is going to be very high. the decor and ambiance was a huge draw to me and my group of 5 guys with lots of dark wood, low lighting and a high, metal tiled ceiling (just take a look at my pictures so you can see for yourself). call it sexist if you want, but immediately we noticed that ccg employs a staff of very attractive females. they go to great lengths to treat you right and by default, the customers go to great lengths to tip well.

their menu is diverse, just stare at it for a while. southern dishes are their feature and seafood is in literally every dish. i started with an appetizer of fried pickles and jalapenos. for a group of 5, it was gone rather quickly. the jalapenos were not spicy at all.

for my main meal, i actually got two appetizers instead of an entree, just so i could see what they were all about. i got the soup trio (gumbo, corn and crab bisque and soup of the day which was french onion) and the fried green tomatoes. the french onion soup was borderline too salty, but otherwise had a great flavor. the crab and corn bisque was very skimpy on the crab and the gumbo had surprisingly large chunks of duck in it. i was very pleased with them. the fried green tomatoes were a huge hit and some of the other guys at the table got them as well. it is only three large tomato slices, but they were very firm and fried to perfection. the shrimp seafood topping on them was second to none and had all of us wishing we had a giant plate of them to eat all night long. one of my friends also go their steak special which had a smoked sirloin covered with smoked onions. he said it was out of this world and it looked every bit too.

finally, our group ordered up almost every one of the desserts they had to choose from: sweet potato pie, death by chocolate, new orleans bread pudding and buttery pecan pie. i got the death by chocolate (which did not kill me) and although it was good, the winner of the desserts had to be the guy who got the buttery pecan pie. this ain't your normal store-bought pecan pie. this stuff was crust-to-top full of pecans, with only the tiniest sliver of that corn syrup filler in between. it looked and tasted amazing and probably wins my award for the best pecan pie i've ever had.

in the end, we sat and reveled in this terrific meal with every single person declaring they wanted to come back the next day. thisplacewon't let you down and i would recommend it to anybody who is in the area as aplaceyou shouldn't pass up.

of note: i observed at least 3 separate tables of single diners who all had brought a book or something to occupy their time. i find this very strange in a sit-down, upscale restaurant like this. although i don't know what it would mean.

used to be a good restaurant. i agree with the last review thisplacehas gone down hill pretty fast. i already gave trip adviser a detailed review but we wont be back. poor value and atmosphere and they dont really care if you complain. my advise give it a miss there are loads of better value restaurants in hattiesburg.

i, a criminal?. most recent visit: food/service good as usual (see earlier review); however, on arriving, hostess asked, "were you just in the bar?" we said yes.
"well, did you clear your bar tab?"
apparently, good manners are no longer a long suit here. either that, or at 73 i must look like a crook.

next door. shares bldg and wine list w/purple parrot cafe, is less formal w/larger, less exotic menu. food generally very good, service sometimes rushed, prices moderate.

the rooms are crowded and horribly noisy at times. no reservations. if you're prepared for this, it's a goodplacefor all sorts of food, creole/cajun and otherwise.

the gem of the hub city. this is theplaceto go in hattiesburg. it is connected to the mahogany bar which is a niceplaceto wait for your table as it is a full fledged bar. i often get the catch of the day as the fish is fresh and tasty. there are several great dishes, too many to mention here. they have a nice wine selection which is the basis for their decorations. there is a very new orleans like atmosphere that feels like a breath of fresh air. the servers are well dressed and very professional. it might be loud at times but everyone is having a good time. if you visit hattiesburg, thisplaceis a must.

enjoyable environment, can be really loud at times due to the closeness of everyone. the food has always been great and service has been very helpful and informative! crescent city grill is a greatplaceto go if you want a change in style of food and away from big franchises as red lobster, outback, or olive garden. suggest crescent over any of those.

not so good. thisplaceis always busy, but in my opinion it's overpriced and everything lacks real flavor. it's almost like prepackaged right out of a can food. i'm definitely not impressed.
