here is what i liked about cosa nostra:
i can sit down and a waitress will take my order.
my wife liked the ceasar salad.
what i didn't like:
pizza was...meh.
i have found two very fine new york style pizza places here. miss ellie's and florio's. but i'm always looking.
and cosa nostra isn't one of them.
it's a kids pizza. a red baron type classiccrustwith very bland toppings. (sliced sausage)
i don't want to say i don't like it because any place that serves italian and i don't have to order from a counter is worth giving another try. but this time i will give either the stromboli or a calzone a try.
my wife liked the pizza but she was born here and doesn't know any better when it comes to new york style pizza. it takes more than a thincrustto give it that label.

they have a very friendly staff and a very tasty thincrustpizza that leaves no grease on the plate. the only thing missing here is dimmed lighting that would add to the atmosphere and show off a great bar design.

yummy pizza for sure!. looked on line for 'new york style' pizza places in san antonio. a couple were displayed, and since this one was a little closer to home than the other, we decided to give it a try. oh man, am i glad glad we did! this one hits the description of great new york style pizza right on the head! the pizza was delicious and thecrustwas something you don't leave behind either. done just right! when my wife and i finished that pizza, there was no evidence that it had ever existed. nocrustbones, this is all good pizza! salads were also good. there was plenty of different beers on hand, but we had iced tea last night instead and it was also very tasty, not the watered down instant junk you often get in other places. service was fast and friendly and the prices were reasonable. i like paying for good food instead of a fancy building and these people put the quality in their product plus keep this cozy little place sparkling clean. ( waitress was cute too guys!)

great neighborhood pizza place. quick, simple, great food and good beer selection. we both were craving a "slice" and decided to try this instead of luciano down the street. i actually liked the pizza better at cosa nostra (and luciano is a fav of mine). thecrustwas really good, like ny and you can pick your toppings. it's a ny-sized slice for $2.75 and very filling. we also had the cosa nostra salad - you have to try this. mandarine oranges, grilled chicken, feta and lots of other good ingredients. wonderful presentation. the slice was so big we took the salad to go for the next day. great place! very convenient in the neighborhood. like that it looks locally owned. we will be back.

very good nyc pizza. hopefully, cosa nostra refers to "our thing" in english rather than to the sicilian mob organization (you know to which one i'm referring! either way, this is very good pizza. newly opened only 5 weeks ago, it is conveniently located just a few minutes off of loop 1604. ambience is spartan and super clean with a handful of silenced tvs and quiet background music. the menu is heavy (good thing) on pizza but offers calzone, pasta, and salads. beer on tap, including birra morrettti (yum!) and in bottles. pizza is baked in traditional ovens (not coal or wood fired). service is friendly. pies come out quickly.crustis near perfect (using nyc thincrustor traditional italian as the gold standard): crisp, chewy, and toasted. we prefer ours just a bit crisper and slightly charred. we opted for one tomato-based and one white pie. each was delicious. all toppings were fresh, flavorful, and tasty. pies were nicely presented and came out piping hot. cheese is very good quality with no oil dripping off.

cosa nostra has some heavy competition in town, but stands up nicely compared to the likes of trilogy's thin crust. lacking the wood-fired ovens of dough or fralo's, cosa nostra takes a back seat to them. however, compared to all of the nasty chain pizza in town, this is great stuff! we'll be back. overall: very good to excellent. highly recommended.

outstanding pizza. was going to go out for dinner tonight, however, our youngest one had some tummy issues. decided to give the new place in the neighborhood a try. took about 50 minutes from call to door and was 100% worth the wait. got some pizza rolls, 1/2 cheese 1/2 pepp for the boys and a margherita for me and the wife. new york style thincrustand the flavor of the dough was exceptional. normally i'll eat the pizza bones with some ranch or something to give it a little extra "oomph." not necessary here. the flavor on the margherita was perfect. the basil was noticeable without dominating. the pizza rolls used the same dough and came with some superb dipping marinara sauce. the boys devoured theirs and even asked for seconds (rare for them). all in all 5 out of 5 stars from me and great to have it close to the house.
