coney island

i know this is probably more nostalgia than anything, but every time i travel totulsai stop in for some cheese coneys. they are much different than anywhere else i have eaten them. a soft bun with a great hot dog, topped with a mild chili that has a hint of cinnamon ( i think) then finished with cheese and onions. i love it

king of the coneys. best coney in tulsa. love the amount of room in the new location and hours of operation have expanded. i have relatives that come from other parts of the state to visit, and the first place they want to go is the downtown coney island. this long timetulsatradition pretty much speaks for itself.

i grew up intulsaoklahoma and attended, central high ( downtown) in the sixties. at lunch time (30 min, gulp!) we students would race to the coney island on boston.the store windows would be fogged from the steam, during the winter and the smell of those lil dogs were heavenly! customers wld hve their trays loaded! they were only 25 cents then, and delicious! the coney buns were gently steamed warm & moist,( not soggy) onions,finely chopped, yummy chili and tasty, tender, dog! they also had slices of pie,,,,yum! downtown employees and students filled the place at lunch time.
if i'm not mistaken, i think, ikes chili house, was on the same street? now if i cld only say the same about the coney island downtown intulsanow??? its not the same location and its not the same food either...sorry.. the coney buns were cold ( what happened to steaming?) the chili, flavorless, onions, overwhelming.. .and i hvnt been back ( ten yrs ago) give me the good old days! :( i do not wish to offend anyone again sorry

alleyoops75. i started going to the downtown location while working as an usher at the orpheum theater....1942...i would order three at a time and then go back for seconds...i'm coming totulsathis coming week to catch the wayne newton show and i can't wait to introduce my wife to the downtown coney place....

best coneys ever!. i remember my grandfather taking me here when i was little. this place is atulsatradition & still has the old wooden school desks. these are the best coneys ever! if you were born in oklahoma, chances are that you have ate here. everytime i go back to oklahoma from colorado, i have to go here several times and not to the coney islanders...i have to go downtown to the originaltulsaconey island.

love it. best food in all of downtown(probaly 2nd intulsabehind ted's). i like going to the bok just so i have an excuse to go.
