coney island

king of the coneys. best coney in tulsa. love the amount of room in the new location and hours of operation have expanded. i have relatives that come from other parts of the state to visit, and the first place they want to go is thedowntownconey island. this long time tulsa tradition pretty much speaks for itself.

the greatest hot dog place ever!! i've not found a single restaurant that i've craved as much as coney island & thedowntownlocation feels like you go back in time to a much simpler world. i've not been able to order less than 6 & my personal best is 12.

i grew up in tulsa oklahoma and attended, central high ( downtown) in the sixties. at lunch time (30 min, gulp!) we students would race to the coney island on boston.the store windows would be fogged from the steam, during the winter and the smell of those lil dogs were heavenly! customers wld hve their trays loaded! they were only 25 cents then, and delicious! the coney buns were gently steamed warm & moist,( not soggy) onions,finely chopped, yummy chili and tasty, tender, dog! they also had slices of pie,,,,yum!downtownemployees and students filled the place at lunch time.
if i'm not mistaken, i think, ikes chili house, was on the same street? now if i cld only say the same about the coney islanddowntownin tulsa now??? its not the same location and its not the same food either...sorry.. the coney buns were cold ( what happened to steaming?) the chili, flavorless, onions, overwhelming.. .and i hvnt been back ( ten yrs ago) give me the good old days! :( i do not wish to offend anyone again sorry

alleyoops75. i started going to thedowntownlocation while working as an usher at the orpheum theater....1942...i would order three at a time and then go back for seconds...i'm coming to tulsa this coming week to catch the wayne newton show and i can't wait to introduce my wife to thedowntownconey place....

reasonable prices for thedowntownarea. excellent potato salad! i tried the bbq lunch sandwich & it was a generous serving though it did have a unique but pleasant taste. overall a good choice for a quick lunch.

best coneys ever!. i remember my grandfather taking me here when i was little. this place is a tulsa tradition & still has the old wooden school desks. these are the best coneys ever! if you were born in oklahoma, chances are that you have ate here. everytime i go back to oklahoma from colorado, i have to go here several times and not to the coney islanders...i have to godowntownto the original tulsa coney island.
