coney island

i know this is probably more nostalgia than anything, but every time i travel to tulsa i stop in for some cheese coneys. they are much different than anywhere else i have eaten them. a soft bun with a great hot dog, topped with a mild chili that has a hint of cinnamon ( i think) then finished with cheese and onions. i love it

king of the coneys. best coney in tulsa. love the amount of room in the new location and hours of operation have expanded. i have relatives that come from other parts of the state to visit, and the first place they want to go is the downtown coney island. this long time tulsa tradition pretty much speaks for itself.

downtown coney island. i agree with rhonda on the old coney island . my aunt used to take me there in the late 50,s as i was around 8 or 9 then . they had the old desk,s then . i,d eat 4 or 5 of those things then , 15 cents apiece. a grapette for a dime or so . and we were set . then went up the street to the rialto theatre or whatever the name was and watched a movie . my dad also took me to ikes a lot then, john usmc ret. in nc

the greatest hot dog place ever!! i've not found a single restaurant that i've craved as much as coney island & the downtown location feels like you go back in time to a much simpler world. i've not been able to order less than 6 & my personal best is 12.

i come here about once a week. the lady that is always there is so nice and the young guy with the pink hat. they have great coneys that are always fresh with friendly service. no complaints about this place. keep up the good work.

this place is a local landmark. i hope they never update it because that's what gives it it's charm. my friends and i used to have contests on how many we could eat, but now i just go back because the coneys really are good.

coney island has been a staple in my life since i was a child! always a favorite for when your craving a good hotdog. these are smaller in size and considered greek style. the buns are steamed and the chili has wonderful flavor. you have an option of adding onion, mustard, chili and cheese to any hotdog. their frito chili pie is pretty tasty as well. grab a soda and a bag of chips and your set!

i grew up in tulsa oklahoma and attended, central high ( downtown) in the sixties. at lunch time (30 min, gulp!) we students would race to the coney island on boston.the store windows would be fogged from the steam, during the winter and the smell of those lil dogs were heavenly! customers wld hve their trays loaded! they were only 25 cents then, and delicious! the coney buns were gently steamed warm & moist,( not soggy) onions,finely chopped, yummy chili and tasty, tender, dog! they also had slices of pie,,,,yum! downtown employees and students filled the place at lunch time.
if i'm not mistaken, i think, ikes chili house, was on the same street? now if i cld only say the same about the coney island downtown in tulsa now??? its not the same location and its not the same food either...sorry.. the coney buns were cold ( what happened to steaming?) the chili, flavorless, onions, overwhelming.. .and i hvnt been back ( ten yrs ago) give me the good old days! :( i do not wish to offend anyone again sorry

fantastic!. this is by far the best coney place in town! if you go around noon plan on waiting in a line that may run outside. it is so worth the wait!!

best coneys ever. this is the one that started it all in 1926!! all the i lander restaurants are spin offs of this one. they just moved across the street to their old location. by far, these are the best coneys in tulsa. if you are going on your lunch break, the line will be out the door....they're that good.

alleyoops75. i started going to the downtown location while working as an usher at the orpheum theater....1942...i would order three at a time and then go back for seconds...i'm coming to tulsa this coming week to catch the wayne newton show and i can't wait to introduce my wife to the downtown coney place....

surprisingly tasty little doggies. stopped by for a quick hot dog,asked how big are they and she said you can easily eat two or three after looking at me up and down!
gotta admit they were yummy, she recommended with the works, onions, cheese and chili. i dont normally like hot dogs but these sure were tasty...dont mind if i will have a few more next time i'm at this local historical restaurant.

reasonable prices for the downtown area. excellent potato salad! i tried the bbq lunch sandwich & it was a generous serving though it did have a unique but pleasant taste. overall a good choice for a quick lunch.
