its my first time trying out irishfoodand i am curious and excited. we ordered the sausage for our apetizer, its a combination of 3 kinds of sausages with bread and cheese and pickles, raisins and apples, a little surprisingly i really liked it the taste of the cheese melting to your mouth with different kinds of flavors of sausages and sweet raisins. we got the corned beef and cabbage rolls it was ok but not really crazy about it, i just felt the amount of the corned beef inside is so little. then the fish and chips were amazing, veri big fillet but crispy on the outside, good combination with the coleslaw side dish.
overall it was a pleasant experience and would recommend.

friendly servers, disgusting food.. my fiance and i ate at claddaghs on a monday afternoon we were passing through plainfield on our way back to chicago. we decided to stop off around 4 pm to have a quick dinner before catching a movie.
for some reason we decided to eat at claddagh's, which was a horrible decision.
our server was pleasant, she seemed to hype everything to sound much more appealing than it actually was. the menu was lacking options... which was probably a good thing given the quality offoodproduced by this establishment.
we ordered a oktoberfest beer(mediocre at best), diet coke, calamari, corn beef and cabbage rolls (which the server said were "amazing"), "the burger" with a loaded bake potato( the server also said this was "amazing" with a "homemade cheese sauce") fish and chips (which are "amazing").
the apps came out quite quickly but probably because they were both deep fried. the calamari was incredibly weird... spicey served with "marinara sauce" which tasted like cocktail sauce. the cabbage/corn beef rolls were horrible. they tasted like nothing, the sauce that was served with them was disgusting. the entrees came out and my fiance immediately noticed that the "homemade cheese sauce" was a complete fraud. it was canned cheddar cheese that you would get on nachos or something at a football game. then i tried my fish... it was the single worst piece of fish i've ever had. i wasnt expecting anything extravagant, but this piece of fish was overcooked, dry and flavorless. the "chips" were potato wedges that seemed twice cooked. they were dry and flavorless as well. my fiance said "the burger wasn't anything special".
now on to the customers... entirely comprised of the elderly, probably 12-14 elderly people when we were there. which was odd, and weird...
we aren't necessarilyfoodsnobs but thefoodat the claddagh was abysmal. everything tasted like nothing, but given the demographic of customers it seems they are capable of passing this horriblefoodas acceptable.
the kicker to this story, the management. we spoke to a manager, he was not friendly at all. he was abrasive and didn't care at all. we barely even touched our entrees and he never even offered to comp them or apologize for the horrible food.

my advice... avoid this place. dont waste your money or time.

i once loved coming here for lunch from work. though not sure if new management cutting downfoodcosts...but the portions are increasingly growing smaller but the same price. a lunch shepards pie looks like it comes out in a petrydish instead of a deep crock like before. that is just one example, as even the fish n chips has shrunk in portions. might have to take a break from this place until the feeling of being ripped off goes away.

claddagh irish dud. this was the first time we decided to eat at the cip. it was extremely disappointing. both of our meals were disgusting and our both of our beers were stale. it was definitely not worth the price of the meal. would have been better off going anywhere.

its so sad because we thought there would be a lot of potential for cip to become our local watering hole. in the end if you plan to visit the claddagh irish pub stay away from theirfoodand be sure to stick to hard liquor and bottled beer!.

great food, but don't come here on a date. i've eaten here a number of times with friends, sometimes in a group, and on the occassional date. thefoodis consistently good though the coleslaw served with the fish and chips is in a little bowl that holds about 3 bites which is pretty meager as a "side" dish. they will bring you extra as a side serving but there is an additional charge. if you come on monday you can get two fish and chip dinners for the price of one.

the burger with jameson sauce is outstanding and a favorite and when we've come as a group and just ordered lots of appertizers to share everything was fresh and hot and came out about the same time.

my only complaint was coming here on a a few dates, early early evening when the restaurant was practically empty and we specifically asked for some place quiet and instead were seated directly next to a large group, with sometimes several noisy kids. sure it might make it easier to serve, but even a few tables away would have been nice. on time between that group of 10 folks celebrating an occassion with babies and us, we were the only people in that side of the restaurant.

overpriced and disappointing. that is the best description i can use.foodhas gone down hill in taste and portion sizes are much smaller. the marinara and goat cheeses were so small that it was barely enough for two people. we will not be returning.

food quality has declined since we started eating there in 2006. perhaps it has to do with the perpetual menu changes, but once-decent pubfood(we travel to england frequently and therefore crave good fish-n-chips) has become too pricey for a low quality on many of the dishes. hit or miss.

claddagh should change their name to "unfulfilled potential". such great atmosphere for a beer lover like me, but thefoodis consistently average to poor quality. i love corned beef so i expect theirs to be tender and delicious and i always get chewy and bland, particularly in the corned beef and cabbage rolls. yet i keep ordering it. i guess that is the definition of insanity.

i really did enjoy their fish pie they used to have but i never had it the same way twice. sometimes thick and hearty, sometimes runny. quality control seems to be lacking on this and other dishes.

service there is hit and miss, mostly miss. we had a couple of excellent services there from, shall i say, "more seasoned" servers and terrible service from some college kids that seem to have been hired for their looks or hipness.

the menu lacks variety and the "irish" component, though admittedly ireland is not one of the great culinary countries of the world.

i'll sit at the bar any day of the week (but i have to say some of the bartenders i've experienced there are very inattentive and just not good) but i think the family will boycott the claddagh for dinner.

i wasn't really that impressed with this place.... we called before we headed out and told them we were on our way with a party of 5 an hour before they closed their kitchen at 11pm. we got there on time, seated ourselves and waited 20 minutes for a waiter. once our waiter arrived he was annoyed and rushed us to order. thefoodwas not fantastic, the portions were small and the prices were way too steep for a restaurant in plainfield.

don't get me wrong, the decor and atmosphere are great but thefoodand service are sub par at best.
