delicious! cabbage rolls and cheesecake. cornedbeef& cabbage rolls: corned beef, shredded cabbage, diced potatoes, mozzarella and provolone cheese in a fried wonton - the house made remoulade sauce takes it over the top

this is a delicious app making you want more - i could make a meal of these

irish car bomb cheesecake: guinness brownie topped with bailey's cheesecake and fresh infused jameson cream

this dessert melted in our mouths - you could taste the hint of baileys - the hint of jameson - we wanted more more more

we will definitely order the cornedbeef& cabbage rolls and the car bomb cheesecake again!

the gaelic chicken: seasoned chicken breasts on a bed of mashed potatoes drizzled with rosemary infused irish whiskey sauce - was very good - not something we would order again just because we are not gravy people but it was good it had an interesting smoky flavor which we were not sure if we liked.

restaurant is dark, so hard to get good picture. live band playing old songs. pleasant atmosphere great service

its my first time trying out irish food and i am curious and excited. we ordered the sausage for our apetizer, its a combination of 3 kinds of sausages with bread and cheese and pickles, raisins and apples, a little surprisingly i really liked it the taste of the cheese melting to your mouth with different kinds of flavors of sausages and sweet raisins. we got the cornedbeefand cabbage rolls it was ok but not really crazy about it, i just felt the amount of the cornedbeefinside is so little. then the fish and chips were amazing, veri big fillet but crispy on the outside, good combination with the coleslaw side dish.
overall it was a pleasant experience and would recommend.

this place is not safe for anyone with celiac disease...waiters also stick their hand in your plate!. i visited this restaurant on sunday may 18th. i have celiac disease which is an auto-immune disease in which my body destroys the tissue in my small intestine when i ingest gluten. i read that there were many items on their menu that can be made gluten free. i thought it would be a lovely place to have lunch with a few friends; i asked for a gluten free menu and was told that it was marked on the regular menu. i explained to my waiter that i had celiac disease and asked if the kitchen prepares gluten free items separately and he said they did. i ordered the gluten free irishbeefstew and again i specified gluten free. when i received my meal it was accompanied by two small pieces of bread! i asked can i have this? is this gluten free bread? he said he was sorry and removed it from my plate with his bare hands. i have only been diagnosed for a few months so i am kind of new to this, it was awkward so i went ahead and ate my stew. i realize now that either my meal
was not rang up gluten free which means that the stew most likely had flour in it or the bread cross contaminated my food. i had horrible stomach, joint, and head pain for a week. this is a typical response in a a person with celiac disease that has been contaminated by gluten. i wrote them an email a few days later and received no response.all i asked is they please explain the difference in a celiac and a person on a gluten free diet to their staff. i do not eat gluten free because i enjoy it (who doesn't love bread??)i eat that way so that i don't get sick or develop life threatening complications. if you cannot accommodate people with celiac disease please remove these options from your menu or specify that you cannot guarantee a true gluten free experience! they also need to let their staff know that it is never appropriate to put your hands in someone's plate....that is just gross!

friendly servers, disgusting food.. my fiance and i ate at claddaghs on a monday afternoon we were passing through plainfield on our way back to chicago. we decided to stop off around 4 pm to have a quick dinner before catching a movie.
for some reason we decided to eat at claddagh's, which was a horrible decision.
our server was pleasant, she seemed to hype everything to sound much more appealing than it actually was. the menu was lacking options... which was probably a good thing given the quality of food produced by this establishment.
we ordered a oktoberfest beer(mediocre at best), diet coke, calamari, cornbeefand cabbage rolls (which the server said were "amazing"), "the burger" with a loaded bake potato( the server also said this was "amazing" with a "homemade cheese sauce") fish and chips (which are "amazing").
the apps came out quite quickly but probably because they were both deep fried. the calamari was incredibly weird... spicey served with "marinara sauce" which tasted like cocktail sauce. the cabbage/cornbeefrolls were horrible. they tasted like nothing, the sauce that was served with them was disgusting. the entrees came out and my fiance immediately noticed that the "homemade cheese sauce" was a complete fraud. it was canned cheddar cheese that you would get on nachos or something at a football game. then i tried my fish... it was the single worst piece of fish i've ever had. i wasnt expecting anything extravagant, but this piece of fish was overcooked, dry and flavorless. the "chips" were potato wedges that seemed twice cooked. they were dry and flavorless as well. my fiance said "the burger wasn't anything special".
now on to the customers... entirely comprised of the elderly, probably 12-14 elderly people when we were there. which was odd, and weird...
we aren't necessarily food snobs but the food at the claddagh was abysmal. everything tasted like nothing, but given the demographic of customers it seems they are capable of passing this horrible food as acceptable.
the kicker to this story, the management. we spoke to a manager, he was not friendly at all. he was abrasive and didn't care at all. we barely even touched our entrees and he never even offered to comp them or apologize for the horrible food.

my advice... avoid this place. dont waste your money or time.

food is shrinking. have been going to cip for years and one thing that i am consistently noticing is how much smaller the servings are getting. ok so maybe my doctor is happy but when i first went there their cornbeefand cabbage rolls (my absolute favorite) were 5 whole eggrolls filled with cornbeefand cabbage, now you get 4 small halves for the same price as the original. their shepards pie was enough that i would order the half size and feel like i was going to be sick if i finished the whole thing (also very yummy) now they serve it in a saucer, again for the same price. another thing that has been bothering me is that every week they seem to change their menu. my girlfriend went there for the sole purpose of getting their steak sandwhich, then they got rid of it. she found that the balsamic chicken was very good, they got rid of it. she then gave their pesto a try and she loved it so ofcourse they no longer serve it. please stop getting rid of her favorites otherwise i will not be able to talk her in to going there anymore!!!

claddagh should change their name to "unfulfilled potential". such great atmosphere for a beer lover like me, but the food is consistently average to poor quality. i love cornedbeefso i expect theirs to be tender and delicious and i always get chewy and bland, particularly in the cornedbeefand cabbage rolls. yet i keep ordering it. i guess that is the definition of insanity.

i really did enjoy their fish pie they used to have but i never had it the same way twice. sometimes thick and hearty, sometimes runny. quality control seems to be lacking on this and other dishes.

service there is hit and miss, mostly miss. we had a couple of excellent services there from, shall i say, "more seasoned" servers and terrible service from some college kids that seem to have been hired for their looks or hipness.

the menu lacks variety and the "irish" component, though admittedly ireland is not one of the great culinary countries of the world.

i'll sit at the bar any day of the week (but i have to say some of the bartenders i've experienced there are very inattentive and just not good) but i think the family will boycott the claddagh for dinner.

disappointing. we ate there on saturday and both the hostess and the server raved about how good thebeefstew was. my wife and i both got it, as well as a dinner salad for me. my dinner salad arrived and was fine on the first bite, about 15 second later, our entrees arrived. i pushed my salad aside and started into thebeefstew. the stew was lukewarm at best and mine had about 3 small pieces of beef. the stew tasted ok but obviously the hostess and server had never had decentbeefstew. the next time we saw our server was when he delivered our bill. every piece of the dinner was disappointing. we won't be back.
