delicious! cabbage rolls and cheesecake. corned beef & cabbage rolls: corned beef, shredded cabbage, diced potatoes, mozzarella and provolone cheese in a fried wonton - the house made remoulade sauce takes it over the top

this is a delicious app making you want more - i could make a meal of these

irish car bomb cheesecake: guinness brownie topped with bailey's cheesecake and fresh infused jameson cream

this dessert melted in our mouths - you could taste the hint of baileys - the hint of jameson - we wanted more more more

we will definitely order the corned beef & cabbage rolls and the car bomb cheesecake again!

the gaelic chicken: seasoned chicken breasts on a bed of mashed potatoes drizzled with rosemary infused irish whiskey sauce - was very good - not something we would order again just because we are not gravy people but it was good it had an interesting smoky flavor which we were not sure if we liked.

restaurant is dark, so hard to get good picture. live band playing old songs. pleasant atmosphere great service

its my first time trying out irish food and i am curious and excited. we ordered the sausage for our apetizer, its a combination of 3 kinds of sausages with bread and cheese and pickles, raisins and apples, a little surprisingly i really liked it the taste of the cheese melting to your mouth with different kinds of flavors of sausages and sweet raisins. we got the corned beef and cabbage rolls it was ok but not really crazy about it, i just felt the amount of the corned beef inside is so little. then the fish and chips were amazing, veri big fillet but crispy on the outside, good combination with the coleslaw side dish.
overall it was a pleasant experience and would recommend.

my husband had fish and chips and was disappointed. according to him it was not authentic. spicy chili was also not spicy at all and bland. service was slow and seating was slow with plenty of extra tables open. we probably won't be back to this location. another fail for plainfield

great authentic irish atmosphere. seating can take a while but it's well worth it and you can walk the mall until a table is available. they will alert you via text. was very pleased to see equally authentic irish dishes and appetizers mixed in with some dishes for the less adventurous. the potato cakes were phenomenal, a must try. i went with the steak and was not disappointed. very attentivd and polite staff. the only complaint i have is about the workers uniforms as i feel they are not formal enough for the restaurant. there was also live music the night we went. everyone was buzzing. all around great experience, would definitely return and recommend!

great meal here tonight! the general's meatloaf was moist and really flavorful with chargrill outer taste. steak sandwich was very good. got mine without mushrooms but plenty of sautéed onions & peppers with cheeses. the guinness baked mac & cheese was very creamy, cheesy and so good. also great scotch eggs and pretzel sticks here for appetizers. won't disappoint. our server was fantastic and attentive. pics included! enjoy! 20151023

jameson burger is excellent!. the jameson burger is very good! the onions and beer cheese really set this burger off! will be my go to burger next time i visit!

had a very nice family meal with great appetizers!. we enjoyed the "scotch eggs" and "guinness beer cheese & pretzels". the cheese was fantastic tasting! in regards to our entrees, wife had the "meatloaf melt" and she liked it very much. son-in-law had the "claddagh's signature burger" which he enjoyed. daughter had the "guiness baked mac & cheese" she loved it. service on the back patio was great! nice family dinner! pics included, enjoy!

no service!. my husband and i decided to eat at the pub at the metropolis. we arrived at 3 and waited 20 minutes at the door and were never seated! there were two women at the fireplace table, a man and young boy at the bar and you could see that someone was at the table beyond the fireplace room. we never saw anyone that worked there!!!! we finally gave up and took our money to another restaurant. i've eaten there one other time and didn't have this problem. we were very disappointed and plan to warn our friends in the area that claddagh will be a mistake!!!!!

this place is not safe for anyone with celiac disease...waiters also stick their hand in your plate!. i visited this restaurant on sunday may 18th. i have celiac disease which is an auto-immune disease in which my body destroys the tissue in my small intestine when i ingest gluten. i read that there were many items on their menu that can be made gluten free. i thought it would be a lovely place to have lunch with a few friends; i asked for a gluten free menu and was told that it was marked on the regular menu. i explained to my waiter that i had celiac disease and asked if the kitchen prepares gluten free items separately and he said they did. i ordered the gluten free irish beef stew and again i specified gluten free. when i received my meal it was accompanied by two small pieces of bread! i asked can i have this? is this gluten free bread? he said he was sorry and removed it from my plate with his bare hands. i have only been diagnosed for a few months so i am kind of new to this, it was awkward so i went ahead and ate my stew. i realize now that either my meal
was not rang up gluten free which means that the stew most likely had flour in it or the bread cross contaminated my food. i had horrible stomach, joint, and head pain for a week. this is a typical response in a a person with celiac disease that has been contaminated by gluten. i wrote them an email a few days later and received no response.all i asked is they please explain the difference in a celiac and a person on a gluten free diet to their staff. i do not eat gluten free because i enjoy it (who doesn't love bread??)i eat that way so that i don't get sick or develop life threatening complications. if you cannot accommodate people with celiac disease please remove these options from your menu or specify that you cannot guarantee a true gluten free experience! they also need to let their staff know that it is never appropriate to put your hands in someone's plate....that is just gross!

friendly servers, disgusting food.. my fiance and i ate at claddaghs on a monday afternoon we were passing through plainfield on our way back to chicago. we decided to stop off around 4 pm to have a quick dinner before catching a movie.
for some reason we decided to eat at claddagh's, which was a horrible decision.
our server was pleasant, she seemed to hype everything to sound much more appealing than it actually was. the menu was lacking options... which was probably a good thing given the quality of food produced by this establishment.
we ordered a oktoberfest beer(mediocre at best), diet coke, calamari, corn beef and cabbage rolls (which the server said were "amazing"), "the burger" with a loaded bake potato( the server also said this was "amazing" with a "homemade cheese sauce") fish and chips (which are "amazing").
the apps came out quite quickly but probably because they were both deep fried. the calamari was incredibly weird... spicey served with "marinara sauce" which tasted like cocktail sauce. the cabbage/corn beef rolls were horrible. they tasted like nothing, the sauce that was served with them was disgusting. the entrees came out and my fiance immediately noticed that the "homemade cheese sauce" was a complete fraud. it was canned cheddar cheese that you would get on nachos or something at a football game. then i tried my fish... it was the single worst piece of fish i've ever had. i wasnt expecting anything extravagant, but this piece of fish was overcooked, dry and flavorless. the "chips" were potato wedges that seemed twice cooked. they were dry and flavorless as well. my fiance said "the burger wasn't anything special".
now on to the customers... entirely comprised of the elderly, probably 12-14 elderly people when we were there. which was odd, and weird...
we aren't necessarily food snobs but the food at the claddagh was abysmal. everything tasted like nothing, but given the demographic of customers it seems they are capable of passing this horrible food as acceptable.
the kicker to this story, the management. we spoke to a manager, he was not friendly at all. he was abrasive and didn't care at all. we barely even touched our entrees and he never even offered to comp them or apologize for the horrible food.

my advice... avoid this place. dont waste your money or time.

food is shrinking. have been going to cip for years and one thing that i am consistently noticing is how much smaller the servings are getting. ok so maybe my doctor is happy but when i first went there their corn beef and cabbage rolls (my absolute favorite) were 5 whole eggrolls filled with corn beef and cabbage, now you get 4 small halves for the same price as the original. their shepards pie was enough that i would order the half size and feel like i was going to be sick if i finished the whole thing (also very yummy) now they serve it in a saucer, again for the same price. another thing that has been bothering me is that every week they seem to change their menu. my girlfriend went there for the sole purpose of getting their steak sandwhich, then they got rid of it. she found that the balsamic chicken was very good, they got rid of it. she then gave their pesto a try and she loved it so ofcourse they no longer serve it. please stop getting rid of her favorites otherwise i will not be able to talk her in to going there anymore!!!

amazing. not sure what the prior reviewer had that was so small with the fish, i went on bogo free night, it was huge! it was one huge piece of fish that hung over the ends of my plate. crispy, golden brown, delicious. excellent caesar salad - so perfect! i go with a friend every monday i can!

we had some girl server that was absolutely terrible - i didn't want to even tip her. we got a salad and she didn't even bring it, then blamed the kitchen. we had a young shaved head guy that was awesome, and another young girl that was excellent service! good time was had 90% of my visits.

i once loved coming here for lunch from work. though not sure if new management cutting down food costs...but the portions are increasingly growing smaller but the same price. a lunch shepards pie looks like it comes out in a petrydish instead of a deep crock like before. that is just one example, as even the fish n chips has shrunk in portions. might have to take a break from this place until the feeling of being ripped off goes away.

great food, outstanding service, great beer selection. waiting on my friends to pick up at the airport, i decided to stop in at the pub in plainfield...sat at the bar and was welcomed by the bartender with a handshake and a smile! she told me the specials and about the beer they had on tap...she even suggested samples if i wasnt sure what i wanted...i looked over the menu and told her that i would be back after picking up my friends.
we came back and enjoyed great appetizers, fish & chips and of course a few pints! had a great time and stayed to listen to the live music which was great too! cant wait to come back!

claddagh irish dud. this was the first time we decided to eat at the cip. it was extremely disappointing. both of our meals were disgusting and our both of our beers were stale. it was definitely not worth the price of the meal. would have been better off going anywhere.

its so sad because we thought there would be a lot of potential for cip to become our local watering hole. in the end if you plan to visit the claddagh irish pub stay away from their food and be sure to stick to hard liquor and bottled beer!.
