thisplaceis immediately eyecatching for anyone of a certain age and who possesses a certain level of discrimination and appreciation of the golden age of american dining. i suppose there are smarter and sharper restaurants out there, i know for damn sure there are worse. it's not particularly cheap but nor should it be. it has the freshest seafood i've encountered in years and this is definitely worth seeking out. it does what it does extremely well. a civilized pleasure, and thankfully not a magnet for the hipster crowd. loved it.

no. just no.. the decor is cheesy. really cheesy. it's like long john silvers trying to be papadeaux but can't even beat red lobster. ugly inside and out. it's dark too. i seem to remember they had carpet.... which is a no no for any restaurant from a cleaning standpoint.

the dishes have promise, but execution is needed. we had some sort of pasta which was bland and oily. boring salad. i think we had a drink from the bar and it wasn't great.

they recently renovated i think. whatever they spent that money on, they should have spent making theplacelivelier to speak to a younger, savvy audience. and their menu or cooking staff needs to revamp the dishes. 60%fine running and thisplacewould be great.

but you can get a good meal here on occasion; maybe you'll have good luck.

the christie's restaurant in houston, last survivor of a once-thriving chain, embodies everything that made the old s.a. location so popular: a clean, large, traditional dining room, with cloth table coverings, a menu full of long-time favorite dishes, and a swarm of staff keeping each customer supplied with everything they expect in a good restaurant and eachplaceunobtrusively cleared. it's nice, i think, that a restaurant doesn't cut staff in order to save a few bucks. the quality of service is well worth the relatively slight premium in prices. we chose thisplacemostly from a sense of nostalgia, and were rewarded with a pleasant m

the standard in fried shrimp. christie's fried shrimp is the standard by which i measure all other's fried shrimp. that's what you go to christie's for - the plump fried shrimp and remoulade sauce. it's hard to try to veer off and try much of anything else when you've got the best! : )

i've been eating at christie's since i was a little girl - over 50 years. not much has changed, thank goodness! it's a no-nonsense kind ofplacewith class - none of that promo stuff chains do. sad that there is only one location remaining, but soooo glad it is still here after so many years.

christie's is sentimental for my family and we still get there for family events, but we choose them for the shrimp and great service.
