great places in europe

we flew to rome for about 4 days and then got on norwegian spirit cruise ship for 13 days. we went to naples, sorrento, athens, rhodes, israel (3 days), turkey, etc.greatplaces to visit.

just 'okay'. after reading all of these rave reviews, we decied to try it while we were in town it was okay - just okay. for the flavor, i thought it was over priced. i don't mind paying $$$ for agreatmeal, but not an 'okay' one.

the shrimp was large, but the breading was dough-y on the inside. we scraped if off. i was hoping to find that elusive sweet flavor some larger shrimo offers, but no.

the cole slaw had an unusual flavor. two of our party would not eat it, but i thought it was okay. there's that word again - 'okay'.

the rolls were just plain old white bread - boring. same with the house salad. the atmosphere? unremarkable.

i think if you've grown up with this restaurant, so there is an emotional appeal, then you would have a different opinion. we just wanted somegreatseafood!

on our next trip, we'll look for a restaurant that is better than 'okay'.

best seafood i've had a loonnngggg time! the atmosphere is a little dated, but the food wasgreatand the staff was wonderful!

the standard in fried shrimp. christie's fried shrimp is the standard by which i measure all other's fried shrimp. that's what you go to christie's for - the plump fried shrimp and remoulade sauce. it's hard to try to veer off and try much of anything else when you've got the best! : )

i've been eating at christie's since i was a little girl - over 50 years. not much has changed, thank goodness! it's a no-nonsense kind of place with class - none of that promo stuff chains do. sad that there is only one location remaining, but soooo glad it is still here after so many years.

christie's is sentimental for my family and we still get there for family events, but we choose them for the shrimp andgreatservice.
