chompie's deli

went there with my daughter and we bothorderedsliders. they are quite large and they are very good. there are so many items on the menu that sound great. i look forward to coming back.

i usually like chompie's, but today - not so much!. the service was rushed and so-so; but i can look past that when the food is good; but . . .

the garlic & parmesan fries were okay, but most of the cheese was on top with very little mixing up of the cheese throughout the pile of fries.orderedthe pastrami on onion bun - and it was okay; but nothing special. the cole slaw absolutely lacked any flavor whatsoever. my associate's meat loaf sandwich was okay, but . . . and, then the carrot cake was dry.

so, all in all, i will keep my vote as "i like it" because of my loyalty in coming so many years; but if today was my first experience, i would have voted "don't like it." so, with that said, this is a 2.5/5 rating as a "might come back" and will update the review if/when i do come back.

the waitress was nice. the asortment of pickels was delish. the hamburger was super huge, but over cooked and dry. no flavor. as this is supposed to be a jewish deli type of place. we alsoorderedthe latkes sampler plate, 4 of the 6 were burnt, the spinach ones were good.orderedthe perogies also, they came deep fried from the deep fryer (menu stated boiled then sautéed in butter and onions), served with sour cream that was off. they were very over cooked, hard & chewy to say the least. for desert we took home some french macaroons, and chocolate twists. the baked good were great, but a bit pricy as they were sold by weight. $9.95 for 9 mini cookies, a bit much. we will not be returning, as this restaurant was a big dissapointment. too bad phoenix doesn't have a real non-americanized jewish deli. we will still be looking for one...

absolutely the best corn beef sandwich..maybe it competes w zingerman's from ann arbor. iorderedhalf and then asked for more. lovely.
