good for a ladies lunch. well,i have eaten here three or four times and whilst i love the gardens and general ambience of the restaurant i think the food is a tad overrated. the large share plates work for groups of four or more but leave themenua bit sparse when there is only a couple dining. the ridiculously loud noise problem has been ameliorated and one can now hear oneself speak. whilst the produce served is good quality the choice of dishes and their execution lack imagination. ok for a boozy ladies lunch but not a serious dining alternative.

a lovely lunch for a wannabe "woollahra lovely lady who lunches". not being a master chef watcher (or carer for that matter) nor being a "celebrity chef" groupie, i had no expectation except for what you would hope for given the prices, the location and the offerings from other moran establishments. in fact, since i stay around the corner from chiswick i watched eagerly as they renovated for many months, vowing to visit regardless of who or what opened there. all that said, we had a wonderful lunch. it was a wednesday, and the place was packed with "woollahra lovely ladies who lunch" (wllwl). the setting is delightful and second to none. the kitchen garden is a sight to behold.

we started with the chicken liver parfait with date puree and grilled bread which was delicious, the bread was somewhat burnt, so that distracted from the enjoyment. we couldn't go past the lamb shoulder for two. slightly disappointed that veg did not come with it, rather a handful of chickpeas, although the lamb itself was exquisite, tender melt-in-your-mouth, and whilst themenusuggests it for two, three with hearty appetites would be replete on this dish. the hand chips were tasty in an overdone way, but the black garlic aioli was so amazing they could have been wood chips for all i cared. we had "food envy" from diners either side of us too, the wllwl do love a low carb meal after all but would never order a hunk of meat like that! the service was a bit "young" and hesitant but enthusiastic none the less.

one thing i noticed, there was a comment on themenustating there was an abundance of particular vegies from the garden but didn't really translate to themenuie one dish per vegetable but none as sides. a lovely side of roast beetroots or peas would have made my day with the lamb, but as it was the beetroot only came in a salad and i didn't even see peas (as opposed to snow peas in the orecchiette) feature in themenuat all.

since it is such close proximity i will be back, and next time with a few more people to try some of the shared platters which looked wonderful on other tables.

subscribing to matt moran's "garden to plate" philosophy, chiswick woolahra supplies a seasonalmenuwith ingredients fresh from the garden right outside the restaurant window. it offers casual dining experience in a contemporary, natural light-filled dining room and is perfect for a special celebration, lunch with family, or a quick dine and drink. book a reservation and come down at chiswick.

the service here is amazing!!! the food was so fresh and different, the vibe was awesome and i had one of the best lunches i’ve had in a long time. the only fault i can say is that i don’t eat seafood and the table i was at ordered a bit of seafood so i didn’t get to try too much on themenubut what i did try was fantastic as well as the wine! looking forward to returning

seasonalmenubut every dish is exceptional. i would highly recommend ordering the moran family lamb. so tender, huge portion and to feed x4 people. their handcut fries are delicious as well as their fresh salads and condiments straight from their garden.

chiswick, situated in woollhara is tucked behind a gorgeous garden at the front. it is the perfect location for lunch with friends and family.

the last time i came here was two years ago with family and the food and service was great! their foodmenuchanges seasonally due to their local produce. for entrees we had the salmon, zucchini flowers and the crispy duck. the crispy duck was pretty good but i wouldn't recommend the zucchini flowers, they tasted abit strange for my tasting.

the standout for me was the sirlon steak with the asparagus and greens. i have no idea how they cooked the asparagus, but every small piece was mouthgasm! :)

i visited this restaurant with my wife for our wedding anniversary after family friends have been hassling us to dine here.

i called them and thanked them for hassling us as this restaurant was absolutely spot on.

the atmosphere was great, the food was delicious and the service was good.

we know of matt moran but had never tasted his cooking and now we know why he is one of - if not the favorite aussie chefs in australia.

our entree was ricotta dumplings and this was a explosion in the pallet. it was full of flavour. absolutely delicious.

we also ordered a steak for main cooked medium rare and this was actually cooked medium rare + a slamon which was again cooked spot on perfect.

all the meals we had were delicious and full flavor, can't wait to go back again soon.

now for the cons:

1- some of the seating were very close to each other to the point were no one was comfortable to talk as the diners next to them would be able to listen. my wife and i were fortunate enough to be able to speak a second language so we can have a private conversation however the restaurant would need to review it's seating arrangements. it is better to lose a few tables for in turn a comfortable and relaxing dining experience that would make diners come back again and again.

2- the only reason i didn't give this restaurant a 5 star was because of themenuthat contained a little printout inside that was supporting a 'event' that occurred in australia. i think this restaurant should stay out of politics and concentrate on continuing delivery great food. remember - diners come from different backgrounds and believes and it is not great to advertise something that may insult them.

3- because some of the tables were bunched up, waiters and waitresses found it hard to collect plates and even see who was waiting to be served. after giving us our dessert menu, we waited approx 10 to 15 min to have our order taken. though i must admit, it was worth the wait...

aside from the above minor cons, it was a great afternoon lunch. thank you and i look forward to dining here again.

i had been wanting to frequent chiswick for some time now having heard that it was co-owed by celebrity chef, matt moran. just a few months prior, i had frequented aria brisbane (another one of matt moran’s venues). there, themenuwas delicate, contemporary and gastronomical. chiswick had a reputation for being meaty, wholesome and raw, yet everyone was heading to chiswick, so i was intrigued as to what this restaurant was all about.

definitely one of my absolute favourites. food is always consistently great and they have an awesome alcoholmenutoo! the collectivemenuis abundant and you will not be leaving hungry. the lamb is the ultimate. don't even need the knife, it literally falls apart with the fork. for dessert it's the banana parfait that won me over. so creamy and the right amount of sweetness.

visited chiswick couple nights a go as i was craving their spanner crab linguine which was on theirmenulast year, but noticed they changed it to a different type of pasta which i was totally fine with.
ordered the sashimi kingfish as an entree, boy was i disappointed some of the thick cut pieces had that "fishy" taste to it- couldn't finish the whole plate it was just awful. looking at other people's post of the kingfish sashimi they had more sauce then we did and it was nicely presented ours looked like it was rushed- mind you our booking was at 6pm so the restaurant was dead quiet.
we also got the steak tartare which was good, no faults in that dish at all.
when my spanner crab pasta came out i was just so excited to dig in.. i had my first bite and was so disappointed..... it was soooo salty and garlicky definitely not the same pasta i had a year ago.
the pasta i had last year was more refreshing and light where this years pasta was more garlicky. i couldn't finish my meal, was way too salty and i did not want garlic breathe, luckily we ordered the steak and hand cut chips on the side so i just munched on that.
looking at other people's post they had basil in their pastas which i remembered i had that last year too but this year it was just snow peas - where is the consistency chiswick ????
unsure if the chefs have changed but my memory of the spanner crab pasta has been ruined...

located in the heart of woollahra is the beautifully modernistic yet classic style white restaurant chiswick. overlooking a beautiful garden setting the scene like a movie. it is a good place for a nice long lunch even with kids, as they can run in the garden whilst you eat and chat. the restaurant itself faces the garden with glass doors for everyone to see. the service was very good and we were never left with anything empty or waiting for long periods of time. however don’t be surprised by the prices they are not the cheapest.

the food itself was delicious and because we went with a group we were able to order quite a few dishes to properly sample the menu. as entrée’s we grabbed the steak tartare, some leafy salads. for main meal with got a crab linguine, fish and chips, the salmon, the roasted chicken and a side of cooked veggies. the crab linguine was the showstopper it was super delicious with heaps of chilli and lemon flavours. the salmon and the roasted chicken were cooked very well, however the fish and chips were rather average and came out fried. the food is quite pricey but we felt that although it was good, themenuis quite a hit and miss.

the location is as pretty as a picture, so going for lunch was the perfect choice, to get in all the beauty in natural sunlight. i highly recommend going for a nice, long lunch, but i’m sure there’s also a different charm to it at night.

chiswick sure love to use their lemons! 🍋🍋🍋 everything had so much zest and spring to it – it was great. i loved the seafood entrees (the spanner crab salad was perfect, although i don’t think it’s on themenuanymore? 🙁), and the roasted baby corn was so simple but delicious!!

we also got the barramundi and portobello mushrooms for mains, which were quite good as well. entrees were definitely the winners here, but barramundi was cooked perfectly, like i mean perfectly, so that was a major plus.

it wasn’t cheap (around $75pp) but it was a bday lunch so every once in a while! 😋

stunning restaurant best visited in the day so that you can take in the beautiful gardens. reservations are a must and this is the perfect choice for a special occasion. go in a group so that you can sample as much of themenuas possible. if you have four or more i would recommend the collectivemenuat $80 pp which gives you a fantastic selection including the moran family lamb straight from the farm which is mouth watering. parking is not abundant but you won't have to venture too far to find one. have the staff recommend a wine as the list changes regularly with the seasons and the menu. pick a sunny day and make it a looooong lunch

good service, good food, good wine and all at a great price. themenuhad some great vegan choices as well. the tiger prawn starter was so super fresh and full of flavour, and the orichiette main with chicken was well spiced. the sorbet though with basil was the best dish around.
