chama gaúcha brazilian steakhouse. interesting conceptual dining experience. all it takes is for you to flip your card that's provided at you table for "yes, i want meat" and the waiters bring out skewers of various meats like sirloin, lamb, filet mignon, chicken, and more...the meat is so good with a lot of flavor. there's also a really unique salad bar with artichoke hearts, olives, feta cheese, and much much more. the service is outstanding. some people will say it's expensive, but i think it's a great value for what you get. you can expect to spend $33.00 per adult at dinner time, and $19.00 per adult at lunch.

it's okay. the first time we went for dinner, it was amazing. the service was what i had expected. however, a year later we went back and the service seemed to have dropped a bit. considering its atmosphere and image i figured nothing changed as much. i was wrong. we had multiple servers asking the same questions, interrupting personal conversations, waste of our sides (they replaced it without asking), and not providing much information to desserts. the meats this time didn't speak for themselves, they tasted as if they were showered with salt and pepper.

fantastic!. we decided to try chama gaucha for our anniversary, and i'm glad we did. from the time we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. they seemed to anticipate what we needed even before we mentioned it.

after being seated and having the routine explained to us, we were off to the salad bar -- one of the best we've seen. it was hard to limit ourselves, but we had heard that we would need all the room we could spare for the main course, too.

salads done, we flipped our service cards from red to green, and within seconds, there were no less than six servers at our table to provide a wide variety of beef, pork, chicken and sausage. looking back at the menu this morning, we find that the only two things we didn't have were chicken, pork ribs, or filet mignon. our favorites were the ribeye and the picanha (prime sirloin), but everything else was tied for a close second. the sides of polenta, mashed potatoes and fried bananas rounded out the meal, and the yucca flour rolls may just be our favorite bread in the world now!

we declined dessert, not only because the fried bananas satisfied our sweet tooth, but also because we were completely stuffed!

this is not an everyday place, at least for us, but it will definitely make us look harder to find "special occasions" in life.

our sincere thanks to everyone that made us feel welcom (and full) at chama gaucha.

have to be a meat lover.. you must dream about steak in order to fully enjoy this place. excellent service. manager very attentive. fresh and beautifully presented salad bar...the chicken salad is actually my favorite. luv the house special cut of beef. found the chicken to be a lil dry and the lamb gamey. wish they had grilled pineapple to complement the protein, but otherwise nice place to celebrate a special occasion.

worth every penny!. been there twice in the past 2 weeks! you can't get a better deal, seriously. all the meat you can eat, literally! when you arrive to sit down they explain how it all works, and soon after you're free to run wild on the salad bar, thought it's not just a salad bar! you name it, pancetta, hard cheese, marinated mushrooms await!

try this gem! it's behind the now defunct rio mambo!

all meat lovers come hungery. great cuts of meat love the options. the salad bar wasn't bad either. even my 4 yr old daughter loved it, and we have the fight to get her to eat anything. best cut imo is the house special

finally a brazilian steakhouse in san antonio whose food quality and service are outstanding. we cane on their grand opening and from the time i came in i felt like a king in my own palace. the waitstaff, supervisors, and manager worked in harmony and were constantly checking on all their guests to ensure their dining experience was top notch. even with all the people there i felt like i was being given special attention that's how great they were. the food quality was amazing and they replenished the side dishes faster than you could eat it. the meat was delicious and cooked to perfection. the best is the picanha aka the house special. the secret about eating this churrascaria style food is to taste the salad bar and eat the meat! when i eat here i get my money's worth with all the steak i eat. you'll love this place but it is a little pricy. try the brazilian beer brahma or cocktail caipirinha.

enjoyed it. typical brazilian steakhouse fare (lots of meat!) ; however, was really impressed with the unually attentive waitstaff. my wife and my drinks were never empty ... we were "checked on" every 10 minutes or so ... lots of folks making sure that we had all the meats we desired and that our sides were hot and fresh. typically expensive ($67 for the 2 of us, plus another $20 for cokes, ($3/each), one cappuccino, and a great tasting creme brule (i, know ... where did we find the room?!!) will return in the not too distant future ... 4 of 5 stars.
