agreattime. from the host staff to the wait staff to the kitchen staff, this was a terrific dining experience. montgomery needed a place like this. it's all there, atmosphere, food selection, affordable, the whole package. you won't be disappointed. i had the pork shank (pictured). it fell off the bone. i can't wait to go back. a+.

several coworkers and i ate dinner at central last night. we ordered appetizers and mostly fresh fish entrees. i had the duck wonton appetizer. the wontons were overdone, the duck filling was fairly bland, and the sauce was hot and spicy enough to completely overpower the flavor of the wonton. the grilled amberjack entree was better but, again, the sauce was loaded with capers that smothered the taste of the fish. for dessert, i had the milk chocolate creme brulee. it was good but not spectacular. overall, i think it was an mediocre and overpriced meal. the one bright spot was agreatwaitress. however, that won't be enough to convince me to go back.

best anniversary ever! my hubby and i went on the recommendation of family to celebrate 10 years. we drove two hours in to have a night to remember and i must say it was worth it.
our server, drew, was top notch. excellent suggestions for both food and drink that complimented each other expertly. matched with attentive service andgreatconversation.
i had the filet special and my husband enjoyed his ribeye. the steaks were awesome, perfect temps andgreatseasoning and flavor. the creme brulee was divine.
good job central! we now have a reason to visit town more frequently. keep up the good work!

my husband & i had a terrible experience last summer here, but we decided to give it a third shot based on the more recent experience of some friends. this time we were not disappointed and had agreattime. we spent $115 between the two of us - appetizer, 2 drinks each, entrees, 1 dessert. it would seem the wait staff is hit and miss. our waiter was okay this go around. i revised my urbanspoon opinion to "likes it", but i'm still apprehensive.

$101.00 for two and i had to pick crab shell out of my mouth with every bite.

my husband & i have been twice: the first time was pretty good and the second was just disappointing all the way around. on the second trip, i ordered a 1/2 dozen raw oyster appetizer and 2 out of the 6 were literally the size of a quarter (a big no-no for raw oyster fans). my husband got the calamari and it was covered in the wasabi cream sauce (as opposed to it served on the side); the calamari quickly turned into chinese buffet honey shrimp. his entree was decent, though there was no chorizo to be found in the chorizo mac n' cheese. mine was a little fishy and full of small bits of crab shell.

if i'm going to spend top dollar (montgomery style) for my dinner, then i expect far superior food than what i had tonight.

central is one the best secrets of montgomery. jerry kyser is to be hailed for this excellent restaurant and warm lush old atmosphere. this is on my regular list now and my favorite restaurant in montgomery. enter central and take you time and enjoy the luxury of agreata dining experience!

it's all good. didn't know how good duck could taste until tried the appetizer won tons. yum! only made better by the slaw served with them. entree was salmon and cooked just right. very flavorful. others at the table had chop, steak, and another salmon. everyone was pleased and totally enjoyed.greatjob from servers and all were attentive. good going chef!!!

anothergreatmeal. four of us went for new years eve. it was another fabulous meal. for starters we had calamari, wood roasted oysters cooked to perfection. grouper entree was outstanding. i would love to see most of the new year eve menu would stay.
i can not way for our next meal there.

wonderful meal. four of us went to central on saturday evening. we started off with the boiled peanut hummus. not a hugh fan of this one. then we got the calamari with a wasabi aolii and the shrimp with hominy, andouille sausage and avocado. both of those starters were really great. i could have made a meal out of those. for our entrees, one had the pub burger, it was cooked to pefection, and the bacon onion jam was really good. the meatloaf is outstanding, this was probably the favorite out of all. the presentation was nice, but the favor was out of this world. the gulf snapper was good as well as the skeak-frities, which was cooked to perfection. their steak sauce has a nice little kick at the back of yor throat. their wine selection is great, as well the bar. for dessert we split the chocolate layered cake, which was a fudgy goodness, as well as the triple coconut cream pie. i can say we will go back again.

had the reddish and loved it. i havegreathopes for this restaurant which reminds me of roux in the early days.

great space, ok food. i was so excited when this restaurant opened. wonderful space in downtown montgomery that one hopes just offers good food and a place for a good time. i have been 3-4 times and have enjoyed the experience as the service wasgreatand the atmosphere was exciting. the only thing that does not deliver is the food; very ordinary. i realize that the prices do not call for a 5 star result but when the chicken is not as good as costco, there is a problem. other dinners who had fish dishes were also "ok at best " with those dishes. only the steak eaters were satisfied. i truly hope the food will improve as this place has a lot of up side.

great food!. outstanding service andgreattasting food all around. menu is short, but everything looked intriguing. had the pork and peach appetizer and the tuna entree. excellent!!! prices are a little on the high side, but worth it... i'll be back.

good food.greatpours in the bar in the early days. today the old less than full thimble for over 10 bucks. good bartenders always keep me coming back. sad they got cheap like whatever you expect at applebee's or any chain

business dinner last night. good bar and wait staff. menugreatbut i did coose what i would normally get so it was fair. they ran out of coffee to have with desert whic seed odd but did recover by offering an "americano". could tone down the music but overall good and will return

lunch at central - just opened for lunch. i finally got to central to check it out after hearing good things about the dinners. i went to a lunch there after they'd just opened a week before for the lunch crowd and had agreatmeal. the patty melt was different than what one usually sees, but in a good way. the patty actually apperars to be a piece of their meatloaf and it's well seasoned. then they put pimento cheese on it in lieu of american or cheddar and it tasted great! the onion rings served with the sandwhich are made there and dipped in a beer batter i think. they were very good and the dipping sauce that comes with them is spicy, hot-ish and i did like it alongside a bit of ketchup. interesting taste. a buddy of mine had a san marcos flatbread that had jorizo, black beans, corn, avocado and white cheese. delicious and wood oven flatbread fired!

i have been to central 5 times since it has opened and i have not been disappointed! it is agreataddition to montgomery. the service is excellent and the food is fantastic!

downtown adds another asset. my husband and i visited central for the first time this past friday night. even though we did not have reservations we were quickly seated near the bar even though the place was nearly full. they had two private parties and a lot of prom kids there that night, but we were served quickly and courteously. our server who was also working the bar was one of the best we've had in montgomery in a long time. he was quick to help but not intrusive. we had the raw oysters appetizer and it was wonderful. for our entrees my husband ordered the meatloaf and practically licked his plate clean. i had the flounder and thoroughly enjoyed the red bell pepper coulis. we splurged on dessert and ordered both the banana cream pie and the krispy kreme bread pudding. although we had a bit of a wait (as one of the private parties seemed to have ordered dessert at the same time) our server was very diligent to keep us updated and keep our drinks filled while we waited. the desserts were excellent! the bread pudding came out hot with a nutella sauce drizzled over the top. the banana cream pie had an oreo cookie crust and tasted freshly made. portions were generous and in the future we may only order one dessert and share!
overall the atmosphere is good, decor has agreatvibe (especially loved the gas lit lanterns) and the staff is excellent. this restaurant is definitely agreatoption for a date night or hanging out with friends!

we didn't like central. i took my husband to central for the first time for his birthday. we checked out the menu on their website beforehand, but when we got there they had a different menu. we both felt the price was too high for the amount on the plate, plus the food wasn'tgreat- it was just good. there were too many waiters & waitresses just standing around looking at you - it made me feel uncomfortable. i loved the old-building look & feel. i'm excited about the growth happening downtown so i feel badly that we do not plan to go back to central.
