central restaurant

disappointing. first of all, the positive: the waitress was really nice.
now to the meal ... serving tap water in a chilled wine bottle does not make the water any better. the boiled peanut humus was bland and gritty. the humus needed seasoning and more olive oil. the quail portion size was meager at best, and the taste was masked with cheap hot wing sauce. why serve quail and then mask the flavor of the meat in cheap sauce? furthermore, the blue cheese slaw was atrocious. the calamari was under-cooked and had a bizarre sweet sauce accompanying it. i actually found the calamari better dipping it in the wing sauce. lastly, the pub burger .... i have honestly never taken two bites of a meal and quit eating it. the burger and bun were both burnt even though the burger was supposed to be medium rare. the addition of a pickled green tomato added in a unappealing consistency to the burger. the bacon/relish reduction has no taste and contributed nothing to the overall meal. i left the restaurant hungry and $75 lighter.

a great time. from the host staff to the wait staff to the kitchen staff, this was a terrific dining experience. montgomery needed a place like this. it's all there, atmosphere, food selection, affordable, the whole package. you won't be disappointed. i had the pork shank (pictured). it fell off the bone. i can't wait to go back. a+.

my friends steak was over cooked & my tuna had been sitting out. and that was after we waited 1.5 hours to find out we had to change our order 3 times because they ran out of everything!!!!

great experience from the moment we were greeted at the door. my guest was amazed that a restaurant like central was located in montgomery al.

the first time we went to central it was just ok. i had the red fish but was a little disappointed. however we gave it another try and it was delicious! i had the pork shank and it was so good and tender. also i am gluten free and both our waiter and the chef were extremely helpful and accommodating. we will definitely keep going!

it was just perfect, nothing could have been better. the service was just

we eat out at these meeting all over the country and everyone was just
amazed how good the food was prepared and served.

our moderator, eats out at least 100 days a year traveling
to these different groups. he stated "it was the best meal i have ever had anywhere."

1st visit: my teenage daughter and her boyfriend went for dinner. she had the cheese board and said it was disappointing. she brought the rest home for our opinion and i would have to agree. crustini was fine. blue cheese was meh. second cheese was shredded (weird for a cheese board) and tasted like parmesan you’d put on pasta). third cheese was crumbled (again, weird) and tasted fine. fruit chutney was marmelaide fresh out of the jar. her boyfriend loved the mussels.
second visit: my husband and i went to see for ourselves. drinks were fantastic (italian red, glenmorangie signet, dirty martini and joe spicer). the bruschetta was so over salted it was inedible. my husband enjoy the belly fat fries. the crispy brussels salad was also a bit salty, but sprouts typically are when roasted and i probably wouldn’t have minded had i not been subjected to the over salted bruschetta first. mozarella and craig is that were in the salad were a stroke of genius. my husband loved the short ribs. cooked to perfection and the anglaise was en pointe. too bad they felt the need to ‘local it up’ with grits instead of sticking with decent mashed potatoes. i loved the pecan pie. hubby thought not sweet enough. coffee creamer brûlée had a nice taste although i prefer a crisper glaze and creme over mousse like stuff underneath. service was fantastic from hostess to waitress to busboy.

i ate here a few weeks ago... it is probably one of the best restaurants in montgomery and probably the best space.
the ambience was great, there were large group of auto executives drinking large quantities of booze but that was fine.

the service was very good but the food was just average on this trip. i've been here two times before the food was better so i'm gonna give it a break and recommend it and try it again because i know they can do better and have.

there was a problem with the light over our
table and they came by to check on us numerous times to see if we wanted to move or were happy. i appreciated their extra attentiveness.

this place is worth going to try again then i will.

my "go to" place in montgomery....when i want to relax, be pampered, and enjoy a wonderful lunch.  the atmosphere, service, and food quality is worth the price. central is full of local flavor and southern hospitality. the shrimp and grits, as well as the burger, are two of my faves. the desert menu items will not disappoint. some of the best deserts i have ever tasted. delicate, flavorful, yet not too sweet.  central is a gem in the heart of montgomery...and is worth every penny!

went for a working lunch to central when i was in montgomery on business. i had the margarita flat bread pizza which was very good. the tomatoes were fresh and overall it was very tasty. the atmosphere was beautiful and service was good.

best restaurant in alabama doesn't disappoint with their seasonal menus filled with farm fresh ingredients and natural meats. don't miss the rotating cocktail menu and wine list.

whether or not a couple can travel together is a deal breaker.   kirsten and i decided to test these waters early with a spur of the moment weekend trip to montgomery, al.  the drive to alabama’s capital through small towns and expanses of farmland was accompanied by various flavors of laffy taffy, ice cold coke zeros, several specially prepared mix-tapes, and continuous conversation.  it was a glorious and memorable four hour ride.

dinner rolls: mass produced, from their distributor. caesar salad: romaine was old...too bad. dressing was excellent. croutons: stale pieces of those dinner rolls. yellowjack (fish) entree was best part of meal. salmon entree was a tiny piece relative to the price-point. server: attentive & pleasant. based on what we paid vs. the food...we would not return. basically it was a "ho-hum" experience. will not return.

i've been here for both lunch and dinner. chef leo knows how to put an amazing dish together. i've never had a bad experience here.

best dinner i ever had. my whole flunder was amazing... desserts are to die for... will be back again....
