central restaurant

best dinner i ever had. my whole flunder was amazing... desserts are to die for... will bebackagain....

sketchy service. my wife and i met my brother and his wife for dinner at central recently. we were shown a table immediately by the hostess. after about five minutes, we were asked by another hostess if our server had arrived yet, and we replied no.
finally a young man arrived, and was very cordial. he seemed a little quirky, but was trying to be friendly. he took our drink orders and then left us to browse the menu after making some suggestions. he was very helpful with his knowledge of the main dishes. after ordering, we didn't have too wait very long for our meal. we ordered a fish and a chicken meal, which were ok, nothing special. upon completing our meal, our server asked if we needed more drinks, and we told him no, but we would probably order dessert and have coffee. he left us with a dessert menu. after about 10 minutes, we noticed our server hanging out outside of the restaurant with the valet workers. after a while, he camebackin, and made several trips past our table without saying a word. finally, we asked another server if we could get some help with our dessert order, and we told her what we wanted. a few minutes later, the manager came by and offered to help. we explained the problem, and she verified our order. shortly thereafter, our original server stopped by and asked us if we needed anything, and we explained that the other server had taken our order. he was agitated, and said that she couldn't put the order in. so we told him what we had ordered. then the second server, a young girl, brought us our desserts and coffee, and said that she would be our new server. we finished our meal and left our second server a nice tip for being so helpful and friendly.
i'm just not sure what happened with our first server, but his mannerisms changed completely about halfway through our meal. he seemed to be high or something. a very strange experience.
the manager and second server were very friendly. the food was ok. and the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice.
but overall, it was not a good experience, and we probably won't bebackanytime soon.

another great meal. four of us went for new years eve. it was another fabulous meal. for starters we had calamari, wood roasted oysters cooked to perfection. grouper entree was outstanding. i would love to see most of the new year eve menu would stay.
i can not way for our next meal there.

wonderful meal. four of us went to central on saturday evening. we started off with the boiled peanut hummus. not a hugh fan of this one. then we got the calamari with a wasabi aolii and the shrimp with hominy, andouille sausage and avocado. both of those starters were really great. i could have made a meal out of those. for our entrees, one had the pub burger, it was cooked to pefection, and the bacon onion jam was really good. the meatloaf is outstanding, this was probably the favorite out of all. the presentation was nice, but the favor was out of this world. the gulf snapper was good as well as the skeak-frities, which was cooked to perfection. their steak sauce has a nice little kick at thebackof yor throat. their wine selection is great, as well the bar. for dessert we split the chocolate layered cake, which was a fudgy goodness, as well as the triple coconut cream pie. i can say we will gobackagain.

class & style in the gump. i rarely get to eat at high end restaurants, but i was treated a few weeks ago to go to central in the alley section of the newer re-fashioned downtown mtgy. i was stunned at the beauty and careful design of an old cotton gin warehouse. the indian light fixtures alone are worth the trip to see. the food was equally stunning. i enjoyed the iceburg lettuce wedge and bleu cheese with grapefruit garnish. it was better than any i'd had before. the pub burger was expected to be nothing special, however, it was really one of the best burgers i'd ever had. there sandwich had a bacon and onion jam on the bread and a pickled green tomato. the beef was really choice and all together in a burger bite, all the flavors worked together wonderfully. others in our party had the grilled chicken and hanger steak. both were bragged upon--although there was a bit of controversy over how the steaks were ordered and how they came out. (the waiter made up for the issue with reserving them fresh steak [which they took home] and dessert to share!)
i plan to gobackagain soon. i want to try everything on the menu.

was embarrassed. took friends from china there friday night ,two orders of calamrie , servering were half the portion i got the first time i went and it was all breading only pieces of squid no rings at all.ordered two oysters with mignonette can't belive what they brought the oysters were dried out they had to have been opened for days i mean you could not eat them. my friends looked, laughted and refused to eat them i should have sent the oystersbackbut did not want to deal with management,got the $160.00 check ,we did have 8 beers that was good and the service was nice.last time for this place . i have been to every resturant and bar downtown but so far everything the city is trying to establist is not much too talk about except the baseball stadium...

today was our wedding anniversary and my husband suggested that we go to central. once we arrived at the restaurant, we were immediately greeted "by name". we were then escorted by two or three people thorugh the restaurant. we proceeded to thebackout of the common seating area, through a door, and down a stairwell. by this time i am thinking..."where are we going?" once we get to the bottom of the stairs, we proceeded down the hall into a dimly lit private dinning area where there were candles everywhere and a bottle of chilled wine on the table. there was a place card on the table that said, "happy anniversary catina, love thomas". the atmosphere was very romantic and elegant. we were in our own private dining area with a private waiter. our waiter was robert and he was awesome! he told us about the history of the bulding and the owners of the restuarant. robert was very attentive to our needs and ensured that we were satified and comfortable. he would check in with us to make sure that we were enjoying ourselves. how could i not enjoy this kind of treatment. i felt as though i was royalty. i would really like to give a big thank you to michelle rivera and robert for going all out for us. it really meant a lot to me and my husband thomas. we will definitley visit central restaurant again and make sure our family and friends visit as well. thank you michelle for making this a day i will never forget. god bless!

gluten free friendly & delicious!. we went to central recently, and had an awesome experience. i called ahead to ask about their gluten free options and was told to ask my waiter when we arrived, which i found odd. however when i asked her, she returned with a regular menu directly from the head chef, who had gone over the menu and marked off what i could not have and added modifications to a few dishes to make them safe. no one in montgomery is that accommodating! we started with the boiled peanut hummus (unique and tastes just like it sounds), which they brought out with some veggie sticks for me. then i chose the pork shank, and it was one of the best things i've eaten in this city, by far. completely fell off the bone, i had no need for the giant knife they brought. we will definitely gobackhere again. the ambiance is great, but even better was the helpful staff and tasty food. only thing i'd change is for them to have a gluten free dessert, because i know it would be tasty! thanks central!!

we didn't like central. i took my husband to central for the first time for his birthday. we checked out the menu on their website beforehand, but when we got there they had a different menu. we both felt the price was too high for the amount on the plate, plus the food wasn't great - it was just good. there were too many waiters & waitresses just standing around looking at you - it made me feel uncomfortable. i loved the old-building look & feel. i'm excited about the growth happening downtown so i feel badly that we do not plan to gobackto central.
