catch - modern seafood cuisine

horrible experience. attempted to try catch tonight for the first time. excited to try the special menu for restaurant week. service was bad. the bartender was trying to be a waiter. had to repeat our order multiple times. took over 45 minutes to get a salad and chicken satay that was not impressive. watched multiple tables seated after us get their meals and desserts. still no dinner or even acknowledgement feom the staff. finally was able to get the attention of a waitress to hear the excuse that thet were really busy with two menus. she went to the kitchen to check then never came back to us. after another 15 minute wait we asked for our check. that took forever. so 26 bucks for a glass of wine, crappy salad and satay. no apologies. horrible communication. will never be back and will not recommend to anyone.

great food and cozy atmosphere. my wife and i dined at catch last week and were pleasantly surprised. the décor of cityscapes was amazing and the food was stellar as well. i had the soft shell crabs and my wife had the crab cakes, which she is still raving about. the waitress and service were excellent and she recited the night's specials flawlessly. we will definitely be returning and this will probably be our "go to" spot for date night!!

we had an excellent evening at catch. not only is the food outstanding, it's creative. each and every dish was so flavorful. it's a casual atmosphere, which suits our vibe. we now truly believe it's the best restaurant in wilmington.

the maine lobster roll was as good- if not better- than ones i've had in maine!
the crab cakes were the best we've ever had. service was great. highly recommended. so good we are here two nights in a row....

catch was good tonight. on a monday night, we needed reservations. we are wilmington townies and this was our first time at catch. the food was great. the waitress was helpful in guiding our selection.

my asian salmon on noodles was delicious and my wife's grouper was equally so. i really like the amount of ingredients (vegetables) used in both dishes. pricey for wilmington, but worth it.

tucked between cape fear river and the intracoastal waterway, wilmington, nc has an interesting vibe. make that  vibes . historic downtown wilmington has that riverboat, wharf, old brick warehouse feel. head east from downtown toward wilmington’s “midtown”, and beyond to the intracoastal waterway and bordering, wrightsville beach , and a more modern, surf shop – beach town vibe emerges. eat the basics  -  located in the cotton exchange , facing north front street, the basics is a casual breakfast to dinner eatery that’s popular with locals. they source locally and serve from a frequently changing menu that features an eclectic mix. the day we headed over to the basics for breakfast they were closed due to a “maintenance emergency”. they came so highly recommended by a variety of those in the know, they’re top of our “next visit” list. image: http://thebasicswilmington.com/ at the basics, we try very hard to preserve [southern] history and to advance the tradition in new ways. the prix

absolutely fabulous food! if the duck pâté is ever on the specials, get it. it was my first time to ever try pâté and this was divine!

we had a great first time experience at catch last night. both fish entrees we ordered, grouper & mahi, were prepared beautifully. i particularly enjoyed my side item of cheddar - jalapeño polenta. ask for tameka; she is helpful, friendly & very pleasurable waitress.

what a great place!. this was our first time to the catch and our waiter erica (you should ask for her) helped guide us through the menu and pick some terrific dishes with wines to match. the spicy, crispy beef lettuce wraps were unbelievable. they exploded with flavor. we also had the crab cakes (worthy of all the awards they have won) and the seared tuna, which was a fabulous piece of fish properly seasond and perfectly seared. i travel 45-50 weeks a year and have to eat most of my meals in restaurants. the catch served some of the best food i have had this year. i may live 150 miles away, but i will be back soon.

our favorite restaurant~. my husband and i agree that our food at catch last friday night was the best we've had in a long time. this was our second time eating there and both times it was awesome. erica, our server was so knowledgeable about the menu and the specials, and answered all of our questions. i love that they have so many specials and they memorize the menu instead of reading it off a piece of paper~ (very impressive ....)
i like the atmosphere...not too crowded and not too big. the lighting and the decor was just right for a date night out.
we started with the best mussels we've ever had and in fact i wanted to drink the broth out of the bowl, but maintained my dignity none the less....
the mussels were such a hit that we decided to go with appetizers, soup and salad so we could try a few things. (although the entrees were very enticing)
the oysters were delicious and the trout soup was also incredible. the flavors combined with the presentation was phenomenal. truly the best night out in a long time! we both agree that this is the new favorite and we will be going back as much as possible. we didn't have room for dessert, but i'm looking forward to trying one of the many homemade specialties.
and erica , our server rocked. she was personable, friendly and so knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients.

exquisite food, excellent service. i went to catch tonight for my father's birthday dinner. the food was amazing. mom and i had the crab cakes and dad had the scallops. we cleaned our plates! i can't wait to go back. there are so many things on the menu i want to try. catch is my new go to restaurant for special occasions.

always searching for new unique quality eeateries. my wife and i love unique, local eateries. we found this one through a recommendation from our neighbor. we were not disappointed. menu was immense. every dish flavorful. restaurant was bustling. wait staff attentive. thoroughly enjoyable evening.... go back? in a heartbeat! thrilled we found a hidden gem.

great food!. we ate at catch with a group of 15 and no one was disappointed. the appetizers, entrees and desserts were delicious and the service was spot on. the only negative was that it was over priced. otherwise, a grand time was had by all.
