casino el camino lived up the hype and gets a thumbs up from me. the burgers here are much bigger than any i have had recently, but you are also served a quality burger to go along with the large size.

best burger. casino on 6th st has the best burger in austin but it is the worst place on earth to eat it. place is dark, rank and gross with the loudest horrible sound (some might say music) coming out of some giant speakers. all that and i have only been there at lunch, can't imagine what it would be like at night. on my two visits (no more planned) the staff was friendly but like the place not so much the type you wish to have associated with your food. it is a 6th st bar and nothing more just happens to make a great burger. fries are nothing but average frozen stuff.

the food was good but i will never return or recommend anyone to eat here because of the extremely rude man who took my order. not sure what his problem was but there are many places nearby that offer both good food and good service.

paleo? could it be true??. with hordes of food allergies, i was pretty doubtful that i'd be able to eat anything at casino el camino, so i was stressing when the group decided on this place. i'd seen the menu online before and was thinking that they'd probably laugh my face off when i went to order. to my surprise, the guys behind the counter were awesome and were able to make me a modified chicken sandwich that, not only didn't make me sick, but was delicious. it was a juicy grilled chicken breast topped with a perfect pile of bacon plus a side of all the gf/df fixins. might not sound that impressive to the normal food eaters, but for someone allergic to most everything (paleo by necessity), i was beyond impressed. while they don't carry gluten free bread (that's garbage anyways), i would definitely consider them "gluten-free friendly."

the nicest i can manage: the burgers are, as advertised, huge. oh, and there’s a bar. i think that’s their business strategy, because i definitely wanted to drown my sorrows afterwards.

along with the angus beef ground daily, they offer a variety of toppings from hot wing sauce to shallot mayo. try the amarillo burger with roasted serrano chiles, jalapeno jack cheese & cilantro mayo in this dive bar, and enjoy your favorite song on the jukebox.

100%. the review below is correct (might have exaggerated a little on the fries, but that is your opinion) and that's what makes this place so good. i tried the amarillo burger with serrano peppers, jack cheese and cilantro mayo. it was well worth the wait. the buns are grilled, too, which is a nice touch.the staff is friendly and funky, the owner is from buffalo so i can't wait to pair a burger with wings next time, and the beer selection is wide. the ambiance is what gives cec its charm. i can't wait to go back.

gory films while eating meat - disgusting. i went to this restaurant based on the stellar reviews it had received on both the food network and on this site, and was very, very disappointed. the burgers were good, but not close to the best i've ever had. the french fries were frozen store-bought, very disappointing. half-way through the meal i lost my appetite as the was some bloody vampire movie playing while i was trying to eat... the place is extremely dark, likely to prevent people from noticing how dirty it probably is. i would never go back.

character abound. i felt like i was walking into a quentin tarantino movie. dark and dingy where were the vampires. this place oozed with character from the skulls in the carved woodwork to the broken chairs and tables from one to many brawls attitude is a given. decent burger done medium but it is so dark was hard to tell but the definate mouth feel determined that medium rare was it. juciy flavorful a given. my chicago burger with cilantro may was very good nice char taste and super juicy. my wife had the double dog and the amout of bacon was insane. draft beer sucked and i left mine and just got a water since they both tasted the same.

my bf and i, new to austin, bought into the hype and decided to fight traffic to try these burgers. it's a dingy bar where you order at the counter and pick up your own food while a waitress walks around expecting a hefty tip. the burgers were extremely underwhelming. both of our burgers were dry and barely had any toppings. the green chile cheese fries were amazing, though. this would be a good place to eat if you're already drinking there, but i don't think we'll ever head back just for burgers again.

long wait. burger and blt were pretty good, fries were very good. however, having to wait over an hour was way too long.

casino el camino is original. there is no debating that. well loved by locals and frequented by travelers, this is a do not miss spot. the only thing about when i visited was that the volume of the music was so high that it was hard to hold a conversation. this was a real turn off, but the place is so original that it retains the high mark of 8 in this category. turn down the music a bit and you get a solid 9 in this mark.
