don't be put off by the outside. . . or inside!. foodies in the know have no problem stepping into casino el camino, but for the casual person simply walking along 6th street, the place would not be inviting. this is truly a dive in every sense of the word. it's grungy and it smells of stale beer. but the food is simply some of the best to be had in austin. go back to the pick-up window and just peer back there and watch how hard those cooks work to make all thoseburgers(by hand) and cut all those onions and do the prep work that most restaurants rely on sysco to do for them, and you will gain a respect for what you are going to eat. the meat is humanely sourced, from all i can tell, and i know a lot of very fancy restaurants that charge top-dollar prices for factory-farmed meat, eggs, and cheese.

and then, you bite into the buffalo cheeseburger, and you think, how can this restaurant associate itself decor-wise with the devil!? you think you've gone to heaven! even better are the chili-cheese fries, which are literally worth a road trip just to savor them. (i know--i have taken that road trip!) the nm green chile, the tomatillos, the thick and crispy fries, and a cheddar cheese that is melted to perfection--just the right consistency, no stringiness, no clumps. . . .

plan to get stuffed, and plan for the hamburger and fries of your dreams.

to make it even better? some of the friendliest bartenders and waitstaff i have met in austin!

i live literally around the corner. theburgersare amazing. however, if you are expecting a touristy place, keep walking. casino is a bar... a dark, off beat bar. it's quirky. the people are nice and do their jobs well. i've never been silly enough to order them around, but i'd love to watch the entertainment if some princess tried it.

here's how the place works... go in and head to the back. you usually have to step up. when the guys in the kitchen have a free moment, they will take your order. don't hem and haw... read the menu on the wall and tell them what you want.

pay them and grab a seat. they will call you when it's ready.

after you grab a seat or table, head over to the bar and start a tab or order a drink. pay them. i've found if i tip generously, the soda is easy to get (i'm not much of a drinker).

soak in the bar atmosphere.... it's like biker, tiki, dantes inferno, and kitsch had a nocturnal baby.

theburgersare chargrilled, medium, and fabulous. the fries are fine, but pale in comparison to the burger. the bun is grilled and if truly is a magnificent burger. i know several people who drool over their blt because it's really a bbbbbblt and bacon is delicious.

a must stop by dive staple on the way home. cold, strong drinks and colorful, friendly yet serious staff. several pool tables and a nice secluded back porch for smoking with a charming little water fountain. casino is a home bar and they have their dedicated clientele but plenty stop in just to check out the awesome rockabilly decor, and to get one of the bestburgersin town and the bestburgersdowntown or on 6th, period. enjoy a beer while you wait, it takes about 45 mins or so for the magic, but it is beyond worth it. try the amarillo with succulent, fiery peppers. they have a second location off ben white that's relatively hidden, but this is where it's all at.

there is a $15 minimum on cards here. there is a small sign dictating this, but i didn't see it and went to check out. when i did, the bartender, told me about the minimum. i didn't have cash and was using a credit card. i asked what i could do to remedy the situation and she gave me a confused look. normally bars will just charge you a dollar to complete the transaction, but she wouldn't even do that. luckily some guy at the bar offered to pay the $2.50 i owed. theburgersare great though, it's a shame about the card minimum.

casino el camino lived up the hype and gets a thumbs up from me. theburgershere are much bigger than any i have had recently, but you are also served a quality burger to go along with the large size.

the nicest i can manage: theburgersare, as advertised, huge. oh, and there’s a bar. i think that’s their business strategy, because i definitely wanted to drown my sorrows afterwards.

gory films while eating meat - disgusting. i went to this restaurant based on the stellar reviews it had received on both the food network and on this site, and was very, very disappointed. theburgerswere good, but not close to the best i've ever had. the french fries were frozen store-bought, very disappointing. half-way through the meal i lost my appetite as the was some bloody vampire movie playing while i was trying to eat... the place is extremely dark, likely to prevent people from noticing how dirty it probably is. i would never go back.

my bf and i, new to austin, bought into the hype and decided to fight traffic to try these burgers. it's a dingy bar where you order at the counter and pick up your own food while a waitress walks around expecting a hefty tip. theburgerswere extremely underwhelming. both of ourburgerswere dry and barely had any toppings. the green chile cheese fries were amazing, though. this would be a good place to eat if you're already drinking there, but i don't think we'll ever head back just forburgersagain.

first i go in to the place the waiter never came to the table to ask for drinks nor food. you had to go to the window n order your own food. my friend an i order two burgers. after 2 hours wait we got are burger cold an rare. they have sign saying that there "not a fast food resturant everything made from scratch so be patient." it's great everything made fresh, but it doesn't take 2 hour to makeburgersn it comes out cold n rare.

just try it! greatburgersand atmosphere!. i had the buffalo burger (not bison, like the hot wings) and i think it was the best burger i've ever had. washed it down with a couple different local brew bottles. i love the decor and the jukebox. definitely will return.

best burger in town?. this place isn't pretty... in fact it's kind of a dive...

you won't see any valets or bathroom attendants. no table cloths or white napkins. no fine china, no candles... but you will find some hellaciously delicious food!

casino el camino offers *in my opinion* some of the bestburgersand dogs in austin.
