don't be put off by the outside. . . or inside!. foodies in the know have no problem stepping into casino el camino, but for the casual person simply walking along 6th street, the place would not be inviting. this is truly a dive in every sense of the word. it's grungy and it smells of stale beer. but thefoodis simply some of the best to be had in austin. go back to the pick-up window and just peer back there and watch how hard those cooks work to make all those burgers (by hand) and cut all those onions and do the prep work that most restaurants rely on sysco to do for them, and you will gain a respect for what you are going to eat. the meat is humanely sourced, from all i can tell, and i know a lot of very fancy restaurants that charge top-dollar prices for factory-farmed meat, eggs, and cheese.

and then, you bite into the buffalo cheeseburger, and you think, how can this restaurant associate itself decor-wise with the devil!? you think you've gone to heaven! even better are the chili-cheese fries, which are literally worth a road trip just to savor them. (i know--i have taken that road trip!) the nm green chile, the tomatillos, the thick and crispy fries, and a cheddar cheese that is melted to perfection--just the right consistency, no stringiness, no clumps. . . .

plan to get stuffed, and plan for the hamburger and fries of your dreams.

to make it even better? some of the friendliest bartenders and waitstaff i have met in austin!

thefoodwas good but i will never return or recommend anyone to eat here because of the extremely rude man who took my order. not sure what his problem was but there are many places nearby that offer both goodfoodand good service.

paleo? could it be true??. with hordes offoodallergies, i was pretty doubtful that i'd be able to eat anything at casino el camino, so i was stressing when the group decided on this place. i'd seen the menu online before and was thinking that they'd probably laugh my face off when i went to order. to my surprise, the guys behind the counter were awesome and were able to make me a modified chicken sandwich that, not only didn't make me sick, but was delicious. it was a juicy grilled chicken breast topped with a perfect pile of bacon plus a side of all the gf/df fixins. might not sound that impressive to the normalfoodeaters, but for someone allergic to most everything (paleo by necessity), i was beyond impressed. while they don't carry gluten free bread (that's garbage anyways), i would definitely consider them "gluten-free friendly."

gory films while eating meat - disgusting. i went to this restaurant based on the stellar reviews it had received on both thefoodnetwork and on this site, and was very, very disappointed. the burgers were good, but not close to the best i've ever had. the french fries were frozen store-bought, very disappointing. half-way through the meal i lost my appetite as the was some bloody vampire movie playing while i was trying to eat... the place is extremely dark, likely to prevent people from noticing how dirty it probably is. i would never go back.

my bf and i, new to austin, bought into the hype and decided to fight traffic to try these burgers. it's a dingy bar where you order at the counter and pick up your ownfoodwhile a waitress walks around expecting a hefty tip. the burgers were extremely underwhelming. both of our burgers were dry and barely had any toppings. the green chile cheese fries were amazing, though. this would be a good place to eat if you're already drinking there, but i don't think we'll ever head back just for burgers again.

the casino rocks!. the buffalo burger: hot wing sauce and the blue cheese make this burger the best. just enough zip to keep it interesting. the so had the chicago burger (bacon and cheddar burger) and it was less interesting. flavor was ok, but not outstanding.

in my humble burger opinion, the ratio of burger to bun was off. don't get me wrong, the patty was huge! hand pattied. i like that. maybe a little too huge. but the key point with such a big patty is the bun. the bun is a dense bread type, so the bun doesn't squish. it's too much bread. i dropped the top bun off and the burger was more enjoyable. the beef was first quality and cooked to perfection.

chilli cheese fries: omg! really good. i couldn't walk away from them! they had just enough spice and heat to make them great. it was a huge basket. more than i needed, and a meal in themselves. as i was cramming another portion into my mouth, the so pulled them away from me and said enough! i was glad she helped me to break the cycle. i needed an intervention. thanks baby.

when we left we were going back to the hotel to lay on the bed and rub our respectivefoodbabies! i'm glad i don't live near the casino.

the casino is a dark hole, more appropriately named the inferno, or dante's, or hell. it seems clean and the service was great. the carney looking, tatted, waitresses were kind and attententive. we will definitely return.

first i go in to the place the waiter never came to the table to ask for drinks nor food. you had to go to the window n order your own food. my friend an i order two burgers. after 2 hours wait we got are burger cold an rare. they have sign saying that there "not a fastfoodresturant everything made from scratch so be patient." it's great everything made fresh, but it doesn't take 2 hour to make burgers n it comes out cold n rare.

hole in the wall but goodness. yes the wait is long (30 minutes to an hour forfoodto be ready) but you will not be disappointed. the burgers are fantastic - ive tried three different types now and every one is good. dont get the buffalo burger too spicy though - go mild to medium. the verde fries are a must - love em. the atmosphere is just that - a hole in the wall so dont expect ambiance.

viva las vegas. as a zombie, i usually avoid the dance floor because my depleted dexterity and limited flexibility mean i just shuffle around out there, and i don't mean the cupid shuffle either. but when the juke box is going at casino el camino even i can't stop myself from shaking it until one of my limbs falls off. add in a great atmosphere and cold beers and this is a great place to hang out, which you will be doing for a long time because thefoodservice is pretty slow.

slow, but worth it. casino el camino has two of the finest burgers in austin (the buffalo and the kc). so whether you've been hitting up the clubs or terrorizing the streets of the living casino el camino is the best place in town to end your night!
