delicious lunch spot and great choices if you want to be healthy or indulge!. the lunch menu was fantastic and i wanted to order everything on it. they have a lot of salad and healthy options as well as several fishes they prepare with olive oil and tomatoes. the pastas looked very appealing but we opted for the lighter options which were perfectly prepared and delicious. i would love to go back sometime and try the pastas. te dessert was ok but next time i would go to dolcezza for gelato instead.

for my main dish, i stuck with the seafood theme and ordered the fettuccine nero with tiger prawns, grilled calamari, and clams in a spicy tomato sauce. this amalfi style dish was fresh and satisfying. the pasta was black from squid ink and the tomatoes gave a nice tart balance. the clams were plump, the calamari tender with nice charcoal flavor, and the prawns were large and pink. all in all, this was a lovely dish.

i fell in love with casa luca. we went there for restaurant week and everything was on point, from the three dishes to the professionalism of the staff. it's a smart-casual italian restaurant that deserves 5+. highly recommended

i recently stepped into casa luca dc for the first time as i was researching sustainable restaurant practices in the dc area for immersion travel magazine.  not only did i get to sample some great vegetarian dishes which made me think “if i had a chef who cooked this type of food at home, i would totally be a vegetarian” but chef erin clarke was kind enough to share her delicious broccolini with toasted pine nut pane fritto & broccoli “pesto” recipe with the dining traveler readers.  the broccolini is sourced from path valley farms in pennsylvania and uses every single part of the vegetable for this dish, to include the stems to create a “pesto”.

my third and final restaurant week meal this year happened by accident. i’d already booked reservations for our january girls’ night dinner at casa luca, before realizing they were participating in restaurant week. i was a little disappointed, but we decided not to cancel and hope for the best.

the lamb was phenomenal!!! if you're looking for a weird and slightly pretentious dinning experience this is the place for you!! went on a date with my husband and had a great time! if you sit inside be prepared to get comfy with your neighbors, cause it is a tight fit! with 2 drinks total, an appetizer, the spaghetti entrée and the lamb entrée, we dropped $160 after tip, at this place. it's not the most expensive place i've been, but don't expect an olive garden bill.

they also offer a "wine school" on saturdays which could be cool. don't worry about a dress code, jeans and a t shirt seemed to be par for the course.

their homemade pasta is a selling point, however skip the red sauce cause to be honest a 97¢ can of hunts spaghetti sauce with 1/4 c cream would taste about the same. better splurge for some thing a bit more rare and unconventional, like their tiger figs! yum!

the prosciutto is really just salty unflavored beef jerky. i mean, it is thick cut for sure! typically it is sliced thinly due to its very strong flavor and how expensive it can be, but money apparently was no object here. the goat cheese and huckleberry compote was fantastic! ultimately, i'd go again, but maybe just for lunch.

excellent food. for the quality, authenticity, taste, and portions, this food experience is worth what you pay. this is not a place for those who frequent olive garden so i find the price issue others mention to be out of place.

i enjoyed a four course meal that included an amazing fresh burrata with grilled asparagus, a branzino filet with a tomato and pepper sauce, fresh pasta with garlic and cheese, and a panna cotta with an amazing candied fruit topping.

march 12th, 2015 | by cori sue tweet pin it it was a cold, wet, rainy day—the first of march no less—when i gathered my dc bitches for a catch-up and planning session. annie, or social bitch, and amanda, our baby bitch, joined me for brunch at casa luca. it was nice to catch up with the ladies, but we also had to set about planning. you see, the bitches turn next month and we’re throwing a five year anniversary brunch in april, as well as a white party on the roof of the penthouse pool in may. be on the look out for invites in the coming weeks! we schlepped in to casa luca, which is cozy and upscale, with an attractive private dining room. the staff was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about all of their brunch offerings. jamming to the eclectic music choices in the warm atmosphere made us almost forget the dreary weather looming outside. last year, we rated fiola mare as the best brunch of the year. so, i was excited to try casa luca, it’s downtown cousin—also owned by fiola and maria trabocchi. while the brunch menu is expensive, there are two affordable options as well as a bottomless option. the first option is a three-course prix fixe—with your choice of one appetizer, one brunch entree, and one dessert plus bottomless beverages. a great deal considering the prices and quality of cuisine. there’s also maria’s light brunch, a $26 healthy entree and mocktsail, which is the dish annie ended up having. the drink menu is solid: with cocktails, mocktails, and fruit juices. there are three cocktails: a silician mimosa (blood orange with prosecco), a gazpacho bloody mary, or sangria. you can order bottomless of any of the three cocktails for a mere $14. amanda selected the sangria, made with donna laura sangiovese red and generous helpings of fresh fruit. the delightfully strong cocktail and frequent refills made for a relaxing sunday afternoon fit for a leisurely brunch. annie ordered the luca’s derby “mocktail,” which was festive and light. the combination of gr

if you’re looking for a departure from traditional brunch menu – casa luca dc is your place . their new brunch menu was released on february 22, offering several italian favorites from chef/owner fabio trabocchi.  fiola mare might be getting most of the attention, but casa luca dc is no slouch. with the release of their new brunch menu they do everything needed to prove their place among the better brunch spotss in washington, dc.

great experience at the casa luca. i was in washington, dc for business. my birthday happened to land on this trip and i brought my adult daughter along with me.
we decided to try casa luca for my birthday dinner. it was the perfect choice!! it all started with a great waiter who explained the menu items. he even got the chef to make a dish which wasn't currently shown on the menu. the food was fantastic and the service was even better. from topping up the water and wine glasses to the special birthday coffee cake, after dinner liqueur and a personalized birthday card signed by the staff. the general manager even popped by to make sure all was well.
i highly recommend casa luca and will definitely return next time i'm in town.

excellent italian food. a few months ago, my wife and i dined at casa luca with friendsand were disappointed. almost every dish was flawed and we wondered why this restaurant received such high praises. i proceeded to publish a critical review of our experience and was very surprised when the general manager jesue madera called me a few days later and wanted to discuss our dining experience in greater details. following our conversation, he extended an invitation to my wife and i to an encore dinner. yesterday evening we dined again at this restaurant and the food was absolutely fabulous. every dish was expertly prepared, beautifully presented and the service was precise and attentive. the salad of misticanza of winter fruit included a large variety of seasonal fresh fruits tossed with an excellent dressing. the agnolotti stuffed with squash was done to perfection and we enjoyed every bite of it. the main course was grilled dover sole for two which was de-boned at the table and was exquisite. to finish our excellent dinner we opted for a quince tart which was flaky and just melted in our mouths. we eat out quite often, and this memorable dinner is probably one of the finest we have had in recent times.

we had such a nice time. the ambiance was lovely. slightly loud, but not so much that we couldn’t carry on a conversation. it was more of just a buzzing hot spot. the food was delicious. inventive, but distinctly italian and hearty. our service was prompt and helpful. all in all, we had a really great date. we’d definitely go back and we left feeling more inquisitive about the other restaurants run by trabocchi.

it has a sophisticated yet approachable vibe with good service and an approachable menu. the pastas we tried were very solid and worthy of a return visit. i wouldn't call casa a mom and pop home grown italian experience, but that's what makes it special and good.
