awesome place, really friendly, welcoming, helpful staff. the outside garden on a warm sunny day is just awesome, great atmosphere. the service was great, all orders came out quickly and really well presented, the food was nice and fresh and very tasty.

wild highly recommend stopping off on the way through the crown range, we will happily return.

a must visit if you’re staying in wanaka or queenstown. such a cute and quaint pub & hotel in an amazing setting. the grounds are just lovely and inside is super cozy for the colder winter weather. drinks are very well priced (decent wine pours) and a good selection. great pub style menu, good quality food for the price & plentiful servings. the garlic cobb loaf is amazing & wedges, nachos very warming on a cold day.

great place with great history. didn't stay here a night so not sure about the stay. however the food was good. the service a little slow due to the fact that it was busy.

ample of seating space inside and out. great place for kids to run around in the back yard. and beer was perfect.

i'm surprised there aren't more foodies or outgoers trying this place out. it looks like a old run down building from outdoors, but its great on the inside. it is one of the okdest buildings around - a must visit for anyone passing by!!

historic country pub in wonderful setting
this is a gorgeous country pub with a fantastic beer garden. we came for lunch on a sunny saturday afternoon and sat outside listening to the live music. our seafood chowder and lamb salad were very good - and it didn't take too long to come out even though it was busy.

finally i have found myself at this kiwi icon! its just classic kiwi pub and grub in a nutshell except it's better. i love it. speights on tap, hearty food, the beer garden out the back to top it off for a perfect summers afternoon. inside is just the most rustic and warming atmosphere you could hope for if you arrive on a winter's day. the team are super friendly and energetic and run a good show. now, remember this is a popular stop for most. so relax, sit back and soak in the vibes of this historic pub. kelly wilby

we always make sure to stop in at the cardrona hotel on our trips to central otago. amazing beer garden and great menu. the pan fried blue cod melts in your mouth, and there’s a great selection of local beer and wine. there can be quite a long wait for food during peak times so be prepared to wait or don’t come hungry!

one of the best places to have a drink.. 154 years old restaurant means as old as nz itself.., amazing ambience with great vibes. a piece of history i must say. right opp is cardrona distillery which is a must visit too.
had the so very famous rogue society gin.. loves it.

awesome food and service and a beautiful beer garden out back. don’t miss the opportunity to stop here for a snack on the way to wanaka. try the frickles!

went here on a busy saturday for some blue cod and chips and they didn't disappoint!
food and atmosphere was fantastic, service is pretty much what you'd expect in a pub/hotel but that didn't deter us.
would definitely come back again

definitely an iconic place to stop for a drink and a bite to eat. we purposely travelled back to queenstown from wanaka this way to stop in at the cardrona. pub food done well, yes we were told that there would be a 45 minute wait on food, but hey at least we were told and the place had quite a few customers. and, what better way to pass a summers evening than with a speights in the garden! in the end the food arrived in 30 minutes, i had bangers ans mash and my friend the pork belly. the meals were huge and were delicious. definitely worth the detour and a stop :)

stopped by the cardrona for lunch on a weekend away with the husband.
purely wanted photos outside this historical landmark.
sadly there are road works dead centre outside of the hotel.
we decided to stay for lunch as it started to pour down with rain.

managed to get a nice spot by the fire, husband ordered the nachos. these were excellent, only downfall is the guacamole which tasted like it was from a packet.

i had the pulled pork & slaw burger, best burger i have had in a very long time !!

i really want to come back here and stay a night or 2 as well.
great atmosphere and still holds so much history.

love it !!

staff were very lovely and accomodating and we absolutely loved the rustic charm of this historic building (152 yrs old!) and how they have outfitted the place for its modern functions. good selection of beers and on tap and spirits on the shelves. the steak we had was done perfect, although we might skip the salad in lieu of dessert next time. looking forward to coming to this region again for a visit.

we popped in for a quick lunch on the way to wanaka, staff were accomodating and upfront told us the wait time for food was about 20min. we ordered vegetarian nachos and the parents had a potato bacon gratin each.
we sat outside in the sun with some wine and beers, a great environment if you can score a seat, bonus if it's by the fire.
the food came out, adam and i split the nachos which were really good, apart from the average packet guacamole. the potato gratin was smaller than expected in a smallish ramican, feedback was that it was tasty and actually rather filling.
inside was a really nice old fashioned sitting room by the fire, again if you can get a seat. overall would return.

excellent ambience..great options for food n drinks..a must stop spot when u driving by cardrona!! very friendly staff..a relaxing and picturesque place..
