great view, atmosphere.... the view, ambiance, and atmosphere are great. the food was altogether a different story. we started with she-crab soup, a so. carolina favorite, this was a horrid mocking of she-crab soup. first it was pink and thick and very crabby. not at all like the name-sake should be. $10! that's is like going to see aerosmith and getting airo-smith, a cover band instead. dissappointed. the server recomended vanilla grouper. the vanilla sauce was an insult to the beautiful piece of grouper underneath it. the side was burnt, wilted spinach... yuk! all of our entrees were very disappointing, plus, it cost us the amount equal to a car payment on a bmw. i felt like i needed an apology. but the service was good... they just need someone who can cook in the kitchen.

had the seafood combo here. it was a great mix of shrimp, crab cake, and battered fish. the fish was the highlight of the meal, beautifully battered in a flaky beer coating. service was great for our table, but the awkward layout of the restaurant made overall service iffy. in short, this is not another one of those seaside seafood pretenders. they know what they're cooking but you'll pay extra for it.

view is all they are selling !!!. we had light pour drinks if and when you could get one... the service was unbelievably bad... it took 15 min for a server to show after we were seated... then the order was completely wrong when we did get it. do not go expecting anything other than a view...

top 5 florida seafood. classic florida on the water seafood and drinks place. love the deck, food, view, service, attitude.

great great great atmosphere ! impeccable dishes lovely presentation. but read reviews who did not like the oysters , funny thing about oysters are every region has it's own and the menu tells you they are from applachicola. they are not huge but the rockefeller was delicious! dessert amaretto chocolate ganache fantastical! light fluffy moose type chocolate dessert with a crispy cookie bottom! save room for dessert! the view grey even though we ate here on chilly night , anywhere you sit nice ... location outrageous! try it once or twice!!!

amazing. one of my favorite places to go. the specials are always awesome. the fish is always cooked perfect. the veiw is amazing!

location!!!. i always leave satisfied and i always have a great meal. the location is beautiful and the atmosphere is amazing. who wouldn't want to dine underneath an oak hammock? if there's a wait, grab drinks and head out on the dock over the tolomato river. great place for kids too. just don't go if it's cold or rainy.

what are you thinking?. i can not believe that caps is decided to rip off tourist as well as the locals!!!
$10.00 for 6 mini sized oysters? $12.99 for maybe 2oz of nori tuna. i was shocked.
i has been said you do not eat the view. i would have rather. $60.00 lunch?
wake up caps and treat the locals like you want our business. i will not be back nor will i tell anyone to visit becuase of the view. i will say, eat somewhere else and maybe stop for a beer. not, they probably want $5.00 for a beer.
this was our favorite place, but not anymore. i was very dissapointed.
total rip off!!!!! yes i will tell 20 people and they will tell 20 people and so on, and so on, and so on.

change of ownership?. i have been to caps numerous times and had enjoyed it a lot. something seemed to be different this time. ordered the special calamari that i loved there and this time i was disappointed. i t came on a small plate as a very small portion and was not as crisp as it used to be. there was maybe 12 pcs in total on the plate with a few fried pcs of spinach. i ordered the horseradish encrusted grouper and was again disappointed. it was not what i remembered it to be. this seemed to have been deep fried and was very dry even with the little bit of vanilla sauce. it usually was pan seared and then finished off in the oven and came out moist and delectable. yes the view and location are tops but unless they get back to their original great food this will just become a memory.

rocky start. great atmosphere....great food....i recommend the calmari...awesome! service was a bit touchy at first we had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us because of a mix up...but the manager gave us a round of drinks and an appetizer which made it well worth it! really loved this place and will definitely come back again!!!!

best mashed potatoes ever!!. while our overall experience left a little to be desired, i have to comment that the mashed potatoes at caps on the water are the best i have ever had.

we had a fairly large party (7) and got seated in the oyster bar with no one really to wait on us. sadly that made our experience lack in the typical excellent service and atmosphere of cap's.

but this isn't my first time to be here and i definitely recommend it - maybe just not for groups - someplace with a reservation might be better in that case.

yes the view and location are great but the food was nothing extraordinary and it was pricier than i expected. the entree included nothing but the entree and for the price i thought a salad or side should be included. would be a good pick for a special occasion.

caps is tops!. i took my girlfriend here for her birthday and our food was out of this world! the service was impeccable and we really felt like the staff cared about making it a memorable evening. our server bought us a flaming dr. pepper shot and even stuck around to watch us take them to see if we liked them. on another note, the bartenders have a very extensive knowledge of fun, delicious shots and drinks, many i had never heard of. the atmosphere of the outside deck is wonderful, and we will be back

que romantico. caps is a great place to take a date. they have a nice spit of sand to take a quick pre dinner jaunt, and an outside bar kind of "tiki" area to sit and enjoy a drink before eating. if you can catch it around sunset with a bottle of wine while neslted under the majestic oaks on the deck there will be some guaranteed swoonage.
