best burgers i had till date. it's a cute littlecafeserving only burgers. a must visit in pondicherry.

i have heard a lot about the place for their burgers and wanted to try it out. the place wasn't difficult to find and seemed like a house turned intocafe, located in first and second floor. the walls and decors are so unique and retro. the food is served in trays.
the latte was good and aromatic. the cold coffee was really good.
the burgers we took were miami chicken burger and classic veg burger. the miami burger was so damn good and juicy and filling. they had options of single patty or double patty. the classic veg burger has barbecue smokey flavour which i didn't prefer. they give mad angles with burgers.

a house turned into a smallcafewith innovative decors. good collection of burgers and also worth the price. a must visit place for some top-class burgers at pondy.

hands down, one of the best burgers i have ever tasted. the vibe of this quaintcafeis unbeatable. it gives such a cozy jazzcafevibe with lovely decor, pleasant jazz music in the background, and it's a must visit burger place in pondy, without a doubt. food coma is guaranteed after having their chicken and beef burger. cheers to the person who curated this quality menu.

cajun and new york burgers are highly recommended for people who like spicy sauces.

the best thing about the burger is their quality of buns (ohh so soft and crisp!), how much loaded they are, the perfect blend of sauces, melted cheese and veggies on top of the patty. definitely worth every rupee spent.

also special mention to their crispy fries with a dip.

this (july 2021) is the second time i am visiting thecafeafter my very first visit in march 2020. safe to say, i will be coming back every time i visit pondy. :")

in puducherry and craving good burgers? look no further, canteen18 is a place meant for burger enthusiasts, specifically meat eaters! this is a burgercafethat tries to cater to all kinds of clientele but truly manages to impress the "carnivore". beef lovers are only a few burgers away from achieving nirvana here in this jazzy/new orleans styled cafe. the meat used is of top quality, cooked well and is perfectly seasoned. i ordered the "nothing" burger. nice name, considering it had "everything". my only disappointment is that i ordered merely one burger. it can be filling but it is so well made it makes you crave another for the next meal. looking forward to more.

the burgers were filling, tasty and unlike the simple burgers you get otherwise. you could see that each burger had its own taste and they can customize for you as well. the menu is full of varieties and for a moment you'd want to try it all.
really, really loved the ambience of the place. truely gave a relaxedcafefeeling where one could spend hours.
the only thing i wasn't fascinated by was the nachos they give along with the burgers, which were not good and seemed right out of a packet.
but then, that doesn't affect the burgers and the experience.
and, the staff, though only 2 people are nice and welcoming.

being in pondy for a leisure trip, i wanted to visit some serene and reposefulcafeand atlast found one! a small sized yet cozy cafe. got amazed by the decor. simple but catchy.

ordered a cowboy chicken hotdog and chocolate cold coffee. the hotdog was snappy and succulent. perfect flavours. nothing to complain about the cold coffee though.

will surely hit this place once again if i visit pondy, to try their burgers. very much satisfied for a first visit.

to start off with, the cafè is inside a small contemporary building run by 2 amazingly friendly people. the ambience is welcoming. i'd personally give it 5 stars for the hospitality.

since we had a late breakfast, we weren't hungry and just ordered a cowboy chicken hotdog and cold chocolate coffee.
hotdog - the best hotdog i've ever had and i'm pretty sure this would remain the best. sausage was juicy and had a mild snap to it. the sauces were at the right proportion. the flavour from caramelized onions were phenomenal. it was like 'flavour explosion' right till the last bite. i was so full and still was on a dilemma whether i should be ordering another one.
cold coffee - it was good, not too thick - just like how a cold coffee should be. the chocolate flavour was predominant, though. i loved it, nevertheless.

totally worth the money!
expect yourself to spend a few hours, enjoying a delicious meal, feeling the uniquess of the ambience, grabbing a book to read and clicking pictures.

so i heard a lot about this place and that they serve the best burgers and stuff so i thought lets have a try. and this is what i thought.

i ordered the miami double patty signature pressed burger , french fries and 🥜 butter and jelly milkshake (might have been my cheat day, lets not judge shall we!).

and i finally found out what everyone is talking about and i literally mean everyone! it was an experience i shall remember!

it's a really charming burger and jazz café inspired by new orleans... the interiors are rustic with knick knacks the couple who own thiscafehave collected from all their travels, the music is jazz... well a match made in heaven i say.

the burger was juicy, tender, sweet, savoury, spiced with buns toasted to perfection! can't remember the last time i enjoyed a burger this much! it comes with a side of spiced nachos.

the fries were really well done and crispy, do remember to request them for their house sauce with the fries.

the 🥜 butter and jelly milkshake was a home run; perfection!

i would give 2 thumbs up to canteen18 and hope they consider serving beer along with.

would i go back? hell yeah!!!

ambience: with low lighting, rustic ambience, smooth jazz playing in the background. canteen 18 is a laid back treat and a great place for a romantic date or a quiet dinner with plenty of conversation. it's never overcrowded and the music is faint. overall a very pleasant experience.

this burger was hands down one of the best burgers i've had in pondicherry, taking into careful consideration that pondicherry doesn't have many burger joints dishing out excellent burgers.
the bun was soft and toasted and held together it's contents well. the layers of toppings and beef were put together in such a way that the burger didn't fall apart in your hands. the quantity for the price was full filling. the sauces weren't over done and complimented the meat exceptionally. what was a real let down though was the chips that came with the burger. wasn't a big fan of mad angles and would've preferred the option of fries which unfortunately weren't on the menu. but with crisp bacon and sausage, i was nothing but content.

service: 🤵quick as it is not a very busy joint (5/5)

overall cost: rs 450/- 💸

verdict: 🌟4.5/5 and definitely vfm. would love some fries though.

canteen 18 is one of the best cafes in pondicherry.

when i first spotted this cafe, it seemed small and not too attractive. but after having the food there, i was speechless.

the bacon and beef texas burger was the best burger i ever had. the beef patty was tender and juicy. the bacon was extra crispy and added the perfect amount of greasiness to the burger. the cheese and various sauces just melted in my mouth.

the hot dogs were just as delicious. the prices might be a little high but the place is worth a try.

in all, this is a beautiful frenchcafethat i would love to visit again and would recommend to all.

found a gem in the by lanes of heritage town. canteen 18 is a warm, cosy café raw interiors, cute small tables, people paintings, a balcony and flowers. it is the exact kinda place i would love to own someday. so warm and beautiful.

the menu is limited and even more so for veg food but everything we tried was super delicious. must try:

➡️ nothing burger - 2 sausages, 2 patties, 3 layers of cheddar, egg, jalapeño, tomato, lettuce. all of this in one burger phew!! we ordered a beef one and it was like a burst of flavourful meat in the mouth. totally recommend!

➡️ texas sandwich - baked beans, cheddar, jalapeño, lettuce, etc. made for a brilliant veg sandwich. only thing missing for eggs to pull everything together. none the less, it was a fab sandwich. next i intend to try the cottage burger.

➡️ affogato - served in a teensy size cup, the affogato is such a surprise. loved the balance of the flavours. 💜

perfect place for a fun date, or handout with pals, or just for a quite afternoon with a book. overall rating 4/5

i visited thiscafefirst when they were outdoors and i recently had the chance to visit them again. i was pleasantly surprised to see they have moved to a much bigger indoor space. a new orleans style american fast foodcaferestaurant now open even for lunch!!! with even better ambiance service and food (i didn't think was possible as they were already soo amazing) they have also introduced some new burgers and desserts to the menu that are simply scrumptious... 5 stars and 2 thumbs up. i will definitely visit again.
