cafe lemontree is a unique take on korean food and for the most part, succeeds in doing so. while certainly areas to improve upon, the base cuisine is decidedly authentically korean and should be on the radar for anyone looking for good korean, especially if you are in the area or are tired of the usual offerings.

the atmosphere was wonderful, very cozy but not cramped. the menu had a good spread of korean, japanese and western options and the food was delicious! i got the chicken apple sandwich and my friend got the korean bbq skillet; both were generously portioned for the price. my only complaint was that it appeared to be one man working the front and kitchen and several customers came in after us so he was busy with them. we would have liked to get dessert too, but after an hour of waiting for him to come back and check on us we decided to leave. i’d love to visit again so hopefully next time we’ll be able to try the bingsu like we wanted!

first time, i came the service was warm and very friendly, the room was cute, inviting and unique. food was mediocre, we both ordered a breakfast plate. nothing special, just a few combinations that didn't work. two years later, i was convinced to try again. service was so professional and attentive, and the ambience cool, just like before. this time, i ordered the salmon and rib skillets. food was very well prepared, hot and flavourful. best korean ribs i've had. friends loved their breakfast and wrap. give this place a try - better than a chain restaurant.

food was okay. but i think, they’re a little under staff. they only have one staff for everything. i wonder if she’s the cook too! lol hehehe but the food is okay. the dessert is great!

order: korean ramen (lunch special), spicy pork skillet, takoyaki, popcorn chicken.

korean ramen:
i was very excited to try this ramen! it was good at the beginning but i started to recognize the flavour. from my experience it tasted like shin ramyun, i believe that's what it might have been. if i had known i was getting instant noodles i would not have spent $10 for a bowl of ramen i could make at home for $3. the dumplings were not amazing in opinion. they were very doughy, and didn't have a lot of filling. there also a few chunks that were hard. the good thing about this ramen were the rice cakes! i wish it had come with more!

spicy pork skillet:
the spicy pork was a bit different from what we were expecting, but it wasn't bad. this was very filling and had a lot of different components! if we were to go again, we would probably get a different meat!

popcorn chicken:
this appetizer was not visually attractive. they basically put popcorn chicken and deep fried rice cakes on a plate and threw some sweet and sour sauce on it. i personally don't like that sauce and was not aware it would be on there...i think their menus lack some information, so be sure to ask questions if you have any concerns! the popcorn chicken tasted like your average kfc popcorn chicken, was expecting a bit more. as for the rice cakes, they were good but from the plate there was probably only 5 tiny slices of rice cakes...which is not a lot.

takoyaki:
i can give a real review of this because it never came! we didn't get charged for it, but the waiter just didn't put it in our order. it was fine because at that point we were full. i didn't appreciate the fact that they didn't apologize for their mistake though.

overall my experience was okay. i would only go back to try their popular dessert but not for anything else. the restaurant itself is really cute though! customer service was ok.

had the beef bulging. loved it. generous portions and the flavour was incredible. beef was so tender. the restaurant is so cute and well decorated. one wall has chalkboard paint where they have a lot of their menu. love the tea cups and teapots that decorate the shelves. con: service when i was there was super slow and disorganized. i understand some waitresses are
better that others there. ps. skip the dishes was there 4 times while we were there. that would be a good option

wow i love the lemon tree with its quirky decor and really delicious food that is reasonably priced. i had the spicy pork with rice and a diet coke in a colourful bottle that i'd never seen before and as a lunch special only cost $12.00 where else could you eat for this cheap. the staff are really nice and accommodating and i will definitely be back for more at my new favourite restaurant.

came here after church with my wife and a friend. it's always nice to find a restaurant that is open early on sundays. restaurant was super quiet when we arrived, we were greeted promptly and given a choice of table to sit at. we noticed a very extensive tea selection written right on the wall along with several specials.

wife ordered the spicy seafood pasta and i ordered the hamburger egg skillet. i found the combinations really interesting. my skillet had a side of stir fried shanghai thick noodle, rice, french fries, kimchi and a hamburger steak. it was a kaleidoscope of chinese, korean and western flavours. it all tasted alright, but something about it threw me off. i have to say the same for my wife's pasta. it was actually pasta in a spicy korean haemul jigae broth. alone, the broth was very flavourful, but something about having it with spaghetti is once again somewhat odd. soup is simply too runny to coat spaghetti. the pasta was bland while eating and after eating the pasta, you're left with a very intense broth that is almost too intense on its own.

my wife and i will definitely come back for tea and dessert as well as come back for something not quite so exotic. i do believe the food is good, and will give them another try.

i was here yesterday with a friend and quite enjoyed the cutesy/kitschy atmosphere. it is definitely unique in that there are korean dishes on the menu along with western baked goods, teas and waffles. my friend and i both had a salad as we are eating light, and i really liked the crispy salmon salad i had, and i liked that it had berries and a variety of lettuce and kale, and no cheese in sight. the salmon was almost like salmon skin, because i didn't taste meat, just the crispy batter and a burst of salmon flavour you usually get from the skin. the service was good and polite. i'll be back to try a waffle and some tea at some point on a cheat day for my diet.

ok winnipeg !!!! the honey bread dessert. wherever you live in the city, take a drive some evening for a coffee or tea and the honey bread dessert. the original is carmel, they offer a chocolate version. in my opinion, this original carmel honey bread dessert is amazing ! think of a large piece of a toasted cinnamon bun cooked to perfection (crunchy on the outside soft on the inside) then cover it with the lightest and most flavourful whipped cream with drizzled carmel. i contemplated trying it because i thought it might be too sweet and i am not a fan of "honey flavoured" desserts, but it is the perfect combo of sweet and crunchy. can't say enough how good it is. lovely cafe atmosphere. you will be pleased you made the drive - it is something quite different and surprisingly so great than anything else you will get anywhere in winnipeg, that's for sure.
