disappointed. let me first say that we eat here often during weekday lunch hour. the food has always been excellent and the service very good. this past saturday we took friends there for lunch and were surprised at the large crowd even well after noon. a testament to what a good place this is to eat. however, when there was a discrepancy with what i ordered and what was set before me, our server, who often waits on us, indicated there was nothing he could do. also, two in our party who ordered what we frequently order found the item to be devoid of some of the usual ingredients. disappointing. but the real issue we had was that a few at our table tried to use one of the restrooms, and it was unusable due to a very nasty stopped-up stool. we were there probably an hour, but we don't know how long this situation had existed before our arrival. obviously for a significant length of time, however. repeated reports to the staff about the problem went unheeded. their response was that they were aware of it and would get to it when they had time. yes, they were very busy, but we noticed staff members unoccupied who could have done something about this distasteful mess. we know this is not the usual protocol at kacao, and we will return--someday. but, for now, our resolve is to never return on a weekend. and not very soon at that.

mmmmmmmmm. finally found this place. tried twice to find it, but the hard-to-read signage kept me from seeing it until today. i had the carne asada, and omg was the flavor awesome. loved the plantains too. also enjoyed the russian potato salad. very casual atmosphere; friendly people; great food.
