i had breakfast here with friends. the portions were huge, and nobody let unsatisfied. the french toast with homemade whipped cream. was amazing.

my favorite breakfast place! this is the izabal breakfast with a side of fried plantains. the plantains are amazing! chorizo, black beans, eggs over easy, with tortillas... my favorite! the coffee is so amazing... just absolutely love this place.

i've been here more times than i can count. i used to budget this breakfast place into my finances for once a week.
the owners and employees are top notch- as much as with their food!
if you haven't eaten here, you must. if you decide to dine here for breakfast on the weekend- be early!

definitely worth the wait. great and authentic food, super delicious. i'd go every day if the lines weren't so long. get the flautas and their coffee drinks!

this is my all time favorite restaurant. the coffee is heavenly. especially the mocha. everything on the menu is amazing. the wait is about 30 minutes during peak times so i suggest going a little earlier than normal meal times. you'll love it!

this is become my choice but for a guatemalan lunch or a mid morning brunch and offers a wide variety of choices on either menu. the food tends to be more savory than traditional guatemalan but that is easily appreciated by the american palate. the service is a mixed bag but tends to be better when they are busy. definitely worth a try the next time you're feeling exotic.

amazing! drive down every couple months from tulsa just to eat here. only place i'll wait over an hour for a table. good service yes, but it's the food! can't wait to have it again soon.

sooooo good!. my friend and i were looking for food at 10:15 a.m. (an odd food time)near penn and 23rd and found this place. i had the machaca, she had a breakfast burrito with chorizo. we both had the hibiscus tea. omg, it was all so good! the flavor profile was complex without being overwhelming. the meat for the machaca was slow cooked in red wine according to the description and it was so flovorful and tender. the eggs were also tender without the normal chewy texture of diner eggs. the potatoes and beans were just amazing. not sure what they do to them, but such a difference from standard papas and refried style black beans. her burrito was huge and the chorizo was extremely good with lots of flavor and just the right amount of spice to wake up your taste buds without numbing them. my dish also came with a side of seasonal, ripe fruit drizzled with a berry and cream sauce. the sauces just elevated the fruit. the tea was refreshing, slightly sweet and slightly tart. the tortillas were obviously fresh made and tender. will become a new standard brunch place!

excellent and authentic guatemalan fair! i particularly like this place for sunday brunch. it is worth the wait. everything on the menu is very good, but i like the carne adobado. if you haven't tried plantains or guatemalan coffee now is the time to start!

great food with some of the worst service in the city. the older blonde hostess will gladly push her friends in front of people who have been waiting and her attitude was unpleasant to say the least. the servers and kitchen staff can't get the food to the tables correctly and if you are not a hipster they basically ignore you. however if and when you do get your food it is absolutely wonderful. good luck getting served though.

amazing food. we tried the tamale appetizer special, which they should add to the menu. those were some of the best tamales i've had, and the sauce they came in is something i'll be trying to replicate. i had the carne asada and my husband had the adobado. both were fantastic. i love the black beans and the rice is good. the corn tortillas were fresh and handmade. my husband had the plantain dessert and said it was awesome (i was too full to try any). i did have a mocha coffee, and watching the owner make it was fascinating. the staff was constantly moving, was friendly, and had great advice and knowledge about the food. it's obvious the owners are very involved in the business and take pride in the quality of their food.

good food and the 2 dollar signs are accurate. i paid $11 for the cheapest breakfast, motuleno, and a coffee. the motuleno was my first experience having it and it was very good. the place was not as packed as i was afraid - so my order took about 10 min to go. will try again.

husband and i have been here twice. both delicious! the place was busy both times we went (saturday afternoon) but the wait wasn't long.

servers are nice and i definitely suggest the churros and the ice cream! although i don't understand why the churros come in a small fry basket.

food has tons of flavor! haven't had any of the coffee, only because i'm too stuffed with food! will be back more and more!

authentic guatemalan - a must try!. cafe kacao is home to one of the few restaurants that have guatemalan food. we came around noon for the lunch rush, and was not disappointed. we indulged in some flautas and burrito, and even a horchata smoothie. the food dishes were hot and flavorful, and the smoothie was to die for (we had to force ourselves to sip, since we both wanted to down it all in one go). if you like latin american food, this is a place for you, and if you are trying to find something unique and/or different, an even better place for you!

awesome food.. the place was great. the decor gave it a very good atmosphere, and yet you could tell it had been done very inexpensively. for instance, the bar was made out of plywood, with pieces of wood stained different colors, glued on. it made it look great.

overall, awesome!
