cafe kacao

the good: this was my first.... the good:
this was my first time going to cafe kacao. it was very busy but only about a 30 minute wait for saturday morning. the food was amazing! the quality and variety was great. they didn't have a problem with our large group or accommodating some special orders.

the bad:
it took awhile for our food to come. it was over 30 minutes. we were asked to leave after being seated for an hour and a half. they said it was their policy to ask people to leave after they had been there for an hour and a half. for a large group this is unreasonable. with the food arriving after 30 minutes we had less than an hour to visit, eat and drink. we did not have time to finish everything. the man who seemed to be the manager (not our server) was the one who asked us to leave.

horrible service. it's gone downhill. waited 30 minutes to be seated, so i was starving. about 10 minutes after we ordered was told that they didn't have all the ingredients to the dish. when i requested another dish, was told that mine was already made, like that wasn't an option. then when checking out attempted to use a keep it local card. was told they didn't accept that anymore, even though there is a sticker on the door and they are listed on the keep it local website. i won't be going back. the french toast was decent, but dry. you could get a much better breakfast with less wait elsewhere in oklahoma city.

wonderful. finally found a great breakfast with great coffee. it's worth the drive!

delicious!. i just tried this place for the first time and wow! is the only word that comes to mind. the food is amazing, service is friendly and i definitely recommend the specialty pancakes. i will definitely be eating here again. amazing!

this is the best guatemalan restaurant in the city! amazing food, atmosphere, and service! the staff treats us like family!

still the best breakfast in okc. you cannot beat this place for a latin-inspired breakfast. the tikal breakfast is my favorite. it is always been great and i keep coming back just to get this. i've tried other things on the menu and they were good but the tikal is where it is at. french toast is the best in okc, but i'd recommend going for the latin options. service is slow during peak times, meaning the coffee will be left empty for 5 minutes or more, staffing could be heavier. for the prices you pay for the meals and what you get, it is hard to complain. i would not mind paying $2/meal extra if the service was better, but it is what it is.

good food, reasonable prices. this used to be an arbys or wendys it looks like, however now it is a guatemalan restaurant. coffee is ok, but red cup is across the street, i'd get your coffee there then head over to kacao. i've never been disappointed here.

phenomenal! i can see why this is so highly rated. amazing food, good prices, pretty presentation. they sure know how to do brunch right.

only little thing was two things i tried to order they were out of. i guess it shows how good those two items are. also, one thing on the menu, the cheesecake chimi, i tried to order and the waiter stated they hadn't served that in months. wish it had been marked that it was no longer available or something

overall, will probably be back weekly!!!

okay. a bit bland for my pepperbelly, but the rest of the table's delicate palate was pleased. excellent custard on the excellent pancakes we had for dessert, though. clean and fast. a bit loud, but very busy during out visit.

harassed!. i absolutely love the food at this place, but! the older male server is absolutely creepy. i am a middle aged straight male. i have been in with ladies, very obviously on a date or breakfast the morning after on numerous occasions. when i come in alone this nut job will switch with other servers after they've greeted me to get my table. then he is completely over the top with his flirtatious over familiarity and touching. he always has to ask if i know i look like some celebrity and wink. entirely inappropriate under any circumstances! revolting!

great central american flavor. a good stop for central american food. they have an excellent selection, the food quality is excellent.

if i had 3 thumbs, they would all be up. what a treat, nothing fancy, just amazingly fresh, delicious food with a south american, slightly spicy twist. quick in and out lunch, people are in line waiting for a table so there's no lingering. the guatemalan beef stew was not your grandma's stew, it was big hunks of tender meat and potatoes ladled onto a plate of seasoned rice and black beans that are addictive. i want to try everything on the menu.

one of my favorite restaurants. i absolutely love this restaurant because the food is amazing and affordable. i'm the type of person who gets the same thing every time, but at cafe kacao i always get something different just because everything i've tried so far is amazing!
