i enjoy vegetarian food and am not much of a meat eater in genera---and love local foods served in restaurants, but was unprepared for this menu. first, each dish on the menu is titled something like 'i am present' or 'i am grateful' and on and on and on. pretentious and cutesy, these titles tell you nothing about the food. so, you have to read the description of each and every meal item to even get a clue as what to order. as it turns out, there was literally nothing on the menu that sounded appealing. while many of the ingredients are on my 'fine' list, they aren't ever going to be on my 'want' list. if you love beans and seeds, you will be happy here. if not, skip. i settled on the 'i am present' aka bruschetta. (yes, i went with an appetizer for my meal--the meals sounded awful.) the bread was good, the tomato good, the balsamic fine, but the cashew cheese paste was no substitute for goat cheese. i ate a few pieces and gave up. surveying my friends meals after they were served didn't help my opinion of the place--their meals didn't look any better than they had sounded--in fact, they looked worse. i wish i'd gone with my initial gut instinct and just enjoyed the company, and opted out of eating. i didn't want to appear 'ungrateful' or rude, so i ordered and wasted a solid $10. not helping this establishment is the continued serving of luke warm water in carafes (apparently vegans don't believe in ice?? i really don't know....) or that when my waitress brought back my change (paid in cash), she shorted me--that ended up being her tip. if you aren't vegan, skip this one. if you are vegan, enjoy--but please, please don't drag your non-vegan friends here and expect them to like it. please.
