waid's in a groovier package. i enjoyed my dinner at cafe gratitude. the decor was pleasing and the other patrons were attractively hip. but my caesar salad, accompanied by our server's request that we think of something that empowers us, was a cleverly repackaged dish that i might have encountered at that ultimately unhip venue that i believe has closed forever, waid's. that is to say, plenty of iceberg lettuce, croutons and salty salad dressing. the hummus was not too good either--and awkwardly accompanied by crackers so thin and lacy that they always broke when any hummus was applied. so, cafe gratitude is a fun concept that tries to pass off very mediocre food as something special. not too empowering.
