cafe centraal

i previously had great times at cafe centraal, but today the service was atrocious....20 minute wait for a couple bloody marys that arrived to my table without straws. no more smoking indoors which was disappointing but inevitable. love thefoodand the atmosphere though, so it won't stop me from coming back....just a disappointing experience.

fun place, great food.foodis outstanding with a lot of selection! service was really great except when i asked about afoodallergy in one of the sauces, they never got back to me. that was a little disappointing, but not disappointing enough to stop us from coming back. we will definitely be back!

really nice establishment, service is always good,foodis always great. they change the menu with the seasons, except a couple house classics. friday fish fry is one of the best in town! nice selection of beer if your looking to try something with your dinner. outside seating during summer is really nice...

don't be fooled. cannot understand why people live this place. it was overpriced,foodwas mediocre at its best. service also average or worse. i have been there 3 different times at different days and times and all of them were bad experiences. never going back. some people just likes it is 'trendy' just like cafe hollander, cafe bavaria and others like that. and they do not care about the quality of thefoodthey get. my dish was watery and very small portion. i had to go home and eat again. not interested in restaurants that cater to 'yuppies'

had the jalepeno bbq burger and it was delish, looooveed the pistachio creme brulee. was very busy but thefoodwas great and beer was good. server was extremely nice and attentive.

poor service and crowd control. i’ve been to café centraal several times since my girlfriend lives really close by. other than the excellent beer selection i really don’t have much else good to say about the place. thefoodis just so-so. my last experience was my worst yet....on new year’s day went here for breakfast. first, they forgot about us and never sent a waitress and i had to ask a bar tender to get us service. next, their ability to control the people waiting for a table was outrageous. my table was completely surrounded by people waiting. it was like the bar i was at the night before somewhere around 1am. butted up against my table was four people waiting for a table. the place was so packed with people standing that they were nudging against my table and surrounding me to the point of feeling claustrophobic. i know that new year’s day is going to be crowded, but this was ridiculous. it ruined my entire meal and because of the poor “crowd control” i won’t be coming back to cc or any of their sister restaurants.

went in for a meal and a few drinks with friend. the waitress made an obvious assumption 'we didn't look like we would tip her' . we ended up not orderingfoodand went straight to the bar. the bartender was great. i wouldn't go back, the waitress left a bad taste in my mouth.

outstanding!!! from the waitress to thefoodand even the atmosphere, this place is great!! the waitress took seven orders in her head and everyone got what they ordered. for a busy saturday night, everything was superb!! can't wait to come here again

favorite brunch spot. milwaukee has a lot of great brunch spots. which is great because i love good brunch. that being said, the place i go to most often is cafe centraal. partly becuase they also service it on saturdays. i have been going here for a couple years and have never been disappointed. thefoodand service is constantly good and they have a great beer selection. i have no problem recommending this or the cafe hollander establishments.

cold food. service was so slow that we thought our waitress might have forgotten about our table. restaurant was not overly busy. after finally being servedfoodwas cold.

will not return. the closestfoodto the highbury pub i walked to cafe centraal at the start of half-time to get a burger to go. waited almost 10 minutes at the bar to order, despite numerous attempts to get the attention of the two bar tenders. after ordering i waited another 25 minutes to get my burger, which was cold by the time i got back to the soccer match (21 minutes into the next half). terrible service, despite decent food.

belgian perfection, bay view location. in the blooming world of gastropubs, bay view's cafe centraal stands out among the crowd. delectablefoodevery single time i've dined, whether it be breakfast brunch on the weekends or a random wednesday night at 11pm. bartenders are extremely knowledgable with the many beers available there. i could go on and on about this place, but instead you should just go there and find out for yourself. right now. seriously stop reading, just go there.

sunny brunch spot.. the restaurant is very cute and has it down for atmosphere. we went for brunch on a saturday and the specials seemed interesting. the service was a little slow and forgetful and thefoodwas good. to hang our for an afternoon burger and beer might be more the style for our next try at cafe centraal.

great time and really, really good food. our first and definately not last our trip to cafe centraal was full of pleasant surprises. i had some family and friends (all who have never been to the cafe centraal before) meet here to celebrate my wifes birthday. we were greeted by the hostess and was accomodating to us when we asked to have at least 8 seats at the bar. our barkeep also greeted us kindly and started to suggest us our cocktails or one of the many many beers in house. we ordered four apps which were all fantastic. corquettes, frites cone, calamari and the scotch egg.foodwas hot, presented great , flavorful and good sized portions for the $. another great part of centraal is that it is smoke free and a great place to people watch! our group was really happy and we will all be back.

greatfood- awesome brunch. i would definitely recommend cafe centraal - the service is excellent, thefoodis great and the brunch is good. i like the non-smoking aspect, there is a back area outside to smoke - but if you're eating do you really want a side of nicotine from someone else's table?
