buttermilk cafe

i will never go back. ordered asteakand was not able to cut it and it looked like it came from the sewer.
the fried okra was burned. told the girl waiting on me and my wife but nothing was done.
again told the girl taking my money and nothing was done.
they had no problem taking my money and did not hear "sorry".
will never eat there again. bad for your health and pocket book.
if i could.....they would receive a - 10 score.

delicious. every time i come to buttermilk cafe, the waitresses are friendly and great, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is just perfect for any time of the day. i love their chicken friedsteakand their pork chops! they never fail to satisfy!

half & half - half good half bad. we tried buttermilk cafe again after saying "never again" after our last visit. the reason we decided to try it was after seeing a steady crown there. this time, my husband had a burger & fries. he said the burger was very good but they brought him chips and then later brought the fries. i had the reuben sandwich w/fries. the fries were great. the reuben wan not. the meat was more like jerky than thinly sliced meat. you could look at it and tell that something was wrong. in fact, it was the waitress who called it jerky. i filled up on fries so the waitress suggested that i try a piece of pie since the sandwich was not edible. she was very nice and did bring a piece of pie. when i went to pay our bill, the owner/manager looked at the ticked and yelled at the waitress for not putting the pie on the bill. even when i explained how bad the sandwich was, she was still very angry and voiced it not only to me but by yelling across the room to the waitress who, in my opinion, had tried to satisfy a customer who was served bad food. the owner/manager was only interested in the bottom line and did not seem to care about the bad sandwich. very unprofessional!!!

i am not sure if we will try it again due to the treatment by management.

so wanted arlington to be better. i so wanted the arlington location to be better! we were in arlington on 05/25 and when we saw the restaurant, we circled back really hoping that it was better than the hurst location. i ordered a reuben sandwich and onion rings which should not be a problem. the waitress took the order and brought complimentary soup which was listed as chicken gumbo. the soup was okay but not gumbo - only chicken & rice - a lot of rice but had a good flavor. i managed to get 2 bites of soup down before she showed up with the sandwich & onion rings. the sandwich is advertised as being on marbled rye - not served that way. the saurkraut was not drained so the sandwich was mushy. the onion rings were prepared so fast that the inside of the batter and the onions were not cooked. the outside appeared crisp until you tried to pick them up. they fell apart because they were not done. i ate less than half of the mushy sandwich and left all of the rings. my husband had a sandwich & fried that he said the fries were not done. he had coffee which was good and i had water. to pay over $20 for uncooked food does not leave me with a good feeling at all and we will not be back to this restaurant. i did voice my disappointment & was told "i'm sorry and i will pass this on to the kitchen."

if momma wasn't a good cook.... if your momma wasn't a good cook you might like this...but, mine was and this is just average or less in quality and taste. last night i had their chicken friedsteakwhich they advertise as "voted best". i would like to know who is doing all of this voting. i live in the area and have never heard of a chicken friedsteakcontest and there are other restaurants in the area that make better chicken fried steak. it was just okay in taste and was tender but not as tasty as some others. i also had mashed potatoes and green beans. the green beans were the worst i have ever had and could not even eat them. my husband said he could smell them across the table and nearly jumped out of his chair when i suggested that he try them. the potatoes are real mashed but have no seasoning whatsoever and also have no taste. they are not creamy and appear dry and crumble when you cry to get a bite. the rolls and cornbread had been reheated in the microwave and would not even melt butter.

they do have cakes and pies in their cooler but they all looked like they had been there for quite some time so i didn't have the courage to even try those.

i'm afraid i won't be rushing back to try them again any time soon.

all food great here !!!!!!!!!!!!. service, & food is great. they have daily lunch specials, & everything taste's like its made from scratch. we had the chicken fried chicken, & chicken friedsteakwhich were fantastic. good gravy, and crispy batter on both plates. orders were not alot of dough either. portions were large, & fresh made rolls/cornbread comes with the meals. for a free appetizer we received a bowl of chicken with white rice soup. pie's and cakes are made fresh daily and can be ordered. the buttermilk, and blueberry sliced pies were out of this world. also the triple decker turkey, ham, cheese , & bacon club sandwich looked great with soup, on the next table to us. they also accept the star-telegram press pass for a 20% discount. we will be back for sure for breakfast , lunch, or dinner.

been 8 times, always pleased. i've had swiss and mushroom burger several times. always great. had the seafood platter on friday evening. jumbo shrimp practically made it a full dinner. my friend had asteakwhich she enjoyed. my other friend had a club sandwich which she enjoyed.

i've had the peanut butter pie, which i enjoyed. they have sugar free pies for diabetics and caloric obsessed.

the dinner rolls are great. i don't particularly care for their sugar whipped butter or margarine. i think an herb butter (possibly chive) would be a better offering. or a cinnamon spiced or "strawberry" butter for a sweet version.

i am surprised to read some of the negative comments. every business can't be on game every time, and i expect one of these days i'll become disenchanted with the buttermilk. i've spoken with the owner who i thought was very concerned about making sure his business is successful and customers are pleased.

btw, i've been to the neighborhood cafe down the street. overcharged, undercooked, and proud enough to expect a tip for doing so.

soured on buttermilk. thought i would give it another chance last 2 times so so, everytime i go there is a problem i ordered the lunch chicken friedsteakand was charged a dinner price 11.00 for lunch come on man , when asked by the manager ( short and stocky guy ) how was everything i told himsteakwas tough and my potatoes were cold and there was no response handed me my change turned and walked off, i thought we had a good thing with this cafe but looks like i maybe wrong . prices to high service by managment terrible. will not go back, neigborhood cafe down the street still hard to beat.

not so great. the service was great, the food not so great. i had the chicken friedsteakthat was burnt and i could hardly cut it with asteakknife, tasteless green beans, great cucumber salad and the gravy was good. the chocolate pie was the worst i have ever tried to eat. the crust was burnt, a thin layer of chocolate with mile high whip cream from a can. such a disappointment. i might try it again for breakfast and see if they do any better.

feels like home. **update**
went here for lunch today. i had been there a few times for breakfast and loved it. lunch was seriously lacking. got the chicken friedsteakand it was not good. no seasoning (i almost never salt and pepper my food at restaurants, but i was dumping it on) on it or the potatoes, or the gravy for that matter. chicken and rice soup tasted canned. the side salad was good, but you can't really mess up salad with ranch, right? my water never got refilled. i wasn't impressed with lunch, but i may still come back for breakfast items.
