while this restaurant may not look fancy nor does it have fancy food, it routinely has some of the best service and straight forward food of any place in hurst, euless and bedford.

i would rank the food a solid 3.5 - 4 as i've had better food howeverbuttermilkcafe consistently delivers above average home cooked meals that for the price, really can't be beat.  breakfast is a favorite of ours (along with most the area) and we make every attempt to eat there at least twice a week in the morning and end up eating several times a week for dinner.

the bakery items are fantastic and some of the best i've had.  their cinnamon roles are to die for and every desert we've had is better than most in the area.

the service is what makesbuttermilkcafe really shine and also keeps us coming back (along with the food and price) multiple times a week.  it's fast, friendly and i've never had a bad experience with take out or dine in.  about the worst i can say about the place is that it's regularly packed in the morning and the bathrooms are tiny.  aside from that, it's quickly become a favorite of ours the second we moved to this area.

speaking as a server. in reference to servers taking one or more tables order at a time. i have seen many times where the server puts the food in and the food comes out reverse of how it was put in. don't you realize that this also upsets the server? don't you think most good servers see this happening? but tell me, what do you want the server to do? i agree thatbuttermilkhas it's faults, as all places of business do, but a lot of the servers at this restaurant truly care about customer satisfaction. but you as the customer also need to remember that a server can not fix a problem if you, the customer, don't let the server know. complaining to the cashier/manager/owner is to late to have something done. please, please tell you server. and please remember that you do not have to be rude about it. most (good) servers will do whatever it takes to get the problem taken care of. servers can't fix the problem if you don't tell them.
servers deal with a diverse group of people through out the day. some happy, which is a great, and some people that aren't so happy.
please remember that this is not fast food. and if you are in a hurry then you need to go to a fast food establishment or come in earlier.
one last thought.......you may not realize this, but hungry people are the hardest people to take care of?

delicious. every time i come tobuttermilkcafe, the waitresses are friendly and great, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is just perfect for any time of the day. i love their chicken fried steak and their pork chops! they never fail to satisfy!

great food, low prices. i recently moved back to the area and this has become my favorite local restaurant. this place has always served good food. years ago it used to be a sizzler and had the best burgers. now thebuttermilkcafe continues the tradition and serves excellent burgers on homemade buns.

their daily specials is full of choices and will fill you up. i have yet to have a bad meal here.

however, my one criticism is the wait staff. they are very friendly, but they are easily distracted and frequently mess up orders. for example, you know you're in trouble when the waitress takes your order and that of the table next to you. this happened to us a few days ago and not only did the next table get their order first, part of my order was messed up and missing.

there are some places where the waitstaff are friendly, efficient, and can take orders correctly--and if they are really good, they can do it without writing it down. unfortunately, the waitstaff atbuttermilkcafe are below average in every area except friendliness.

appreciative. this is one of my favorite restaurants. i come here often with my two children and husband and they always leave the restaurant satisfied. the food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the management is commendable. one of the things i noticed that separatebuttermilkfrom other restaurants is its use of fresh ingredients. being a mother of two children who are allergic to most food from other restaurants, i know when a restaurant's food is fresh and clean. every time i go to other restaurants with my children, they always suffer from allergic reactions and have problems with the food. but with buttermilk, i've been coming here for about a year now and we've never had that problem. that shows thatbuttermilkuses clean oil and fresh ingredients.

i applaud them for being able to put aside the cheap food in order to satisfy their customers fully. my family and i appreciate the care they have for their customers and the quality of their food. i can see that the management atbuttermilktakes great care and effort to please all of their customers.

half & half - half good half bad. we triedbuttermilkcafe again after saying "never again" after our last visit. the reason we decided to try it was after seeing a steady crown there. this time, my husband had a burger & fries. he said the burger was very good but they brought him chips and then later brought the fries. i had the reuben sandwich w/fries. the fries were great. the reuben wan not. the meat was more like jerky than thinly sliced meat. you could look at it and tell that something was wrong. in fact, it was the waitress who called it jerky. i filled up on fries so the waitress suggested that i try a piece of pie since the sandwich was not edible. she was very nice and did bring a piece of pie. when i went to pay our bill, the owner/manager looked at the ticked and yelled at the waitress for not putting the pie on the bill. even when i explained how bad the sandwich was, she was still very angry and voiced it not only to me but by yelling across the room to the waitress who, in my opinion, had tried to satisfy a customer who was served bad food. the owner/manager was only interested in the bottom line and did not seem to care about the bad sandwich. very unprofessional!!!

i am not sure if we will try it again due to the treatment by management.

so wanted arlington to be better. i so wanted the arlington location to be better! we were in arlington on 05/25 and when we saw the restaurant, we circled back really hoping that it was better than the hurst location. i ordered a reuben sandwich and onion rings which should not be a problem. the waitress took the order and brought complimentary soup which was listed as chicken gumbo. the soup was okay but not gumbo - only chicken & rice - a lot of rice but had a good flavor. i managed to get 2 bites of soup down before she showed up with the sandwich & onion rings. the sandwich is advertised as being on marbled rye - not served that way. the saurkraut was not drained so the sandwich was mushy. the onion rings were prepared so fast that the inside of the batter and the onions were not cooked. the outside appeared crisp until you tried to pick them up. they fell apart because they were not done. i ate less than half of the mushy sandwich and left all of the rings. my husband had a sandwich & fried that he said the fries were not done. he had coffee which was good and i had water. to pay over $20 for uncooked food does not leave me with a good feeling at all and we will not be back to this restaurant. i did voice my disappointment & was told "i'm sorry and i will pass this on to the kitchen."

if momma wasn't a good cook.... if your momma wasn't a good cook you might like this...but, mine was and this is just average or less in quality and taste. last night i had their chicken fried steak which they advertise as "voted best". i would like to know who is doing all of this voting. i live in the area and have never heard of a chicken fried steak contest and there are other restaurants in the area that make better chicken fried steak. it was just okay in taste and was tender but not as tasty as some others. i also had mashed potatoes and green beans. the green beans were the worst i have ever had and could not even eat them. my husband said he could smell them across the table and nearly jumped out of his chair when i suggested that he try them. the potatoes are real mashed but have no seasoning whatsoever and also have no taste. they are not creamy and appear dry and crumble when you cry to get a bite. the rolls and cornbread had been reheated in the microwave and would not even melt butter.

they do have cakes and pies in their cooler but they all looked like they had been there for quite some time so i didn't have the courage to even try those.

i'm afraid i won't be rushing back to try them again any time soon.

dead to me which almost killed me!. omg, the worst case of food poisioning i have ever had last wednesday.buttermilkhas now become sourmilk. 3 grueling hours of having to endure their lasagna special...not sure what was so special about it but never again. oh well, just another place to write off! so long!

homemade cooking at it's best! it is so wonderful to find a place for good food that is not laced with sodium!! great place to visit for many times to come!

like family. i’ve been going to this restaurant since it opened. i go there like many people because its got great food at a great price, and its staff is like family. it is common to run into old friends and next door neighbors here. in most restaurants, customers pass like ships in the night, but here complete strangers’ strike-up conversations and get to know each other. it is like an old-time restaurant in a small town. it has become the meeting spot for the community and that is its charm. i couldn’t pick a better atmosphere to hang out and eat. another fact is that it is a senior mecca. they love the food and the service. my father even says, “let’s go to thebuttermilkand see my girls.” i figure that thebuttermilkwould have more excellent reviews on-line, if more seniors had the internet. they love this place! by the way, if you have a problem at a restaurant, talk to the management. i have never seen a manager turn down an honest complaint, and this restaurant is no different. things happen in business, and an excellent business will take the time to address the issue. oh ya! get the pie, it is excellent.

3 strikes and your out !!. my wife and i went back for our 4th time this morning..our 1st time everything was great..the last 3 times the orders have been so screwed up it made our breakfast experience a disaster.. i always give a restaurant a 2nd & 3rd chance.(i do punish myself at doing this, i know).this one just got my last..
this time as the 2 times before, the 'over easy' eggs were 'over well' (more like a fried egg sandwich type)..pancakes were hard and they ran out of orange juice (at 9am on sunday ?????)!! the waitress reordered the eggs, but of course everything else was cold when the new orders arrived !!
seems like a lack of management.. the poor waitress tried her best..when the floor manager came around to give us our bill (which had the oj on it that we never got), i politely mentioned that this would probably be our last time here..she just turned, walked away, turned and looked over her shoulder and shrugged as if to say so what!!
i had in the past recommended this to several people...well no more !!! they need to wake up and realize, there are 6 or 7 very good competitors within 1 mile or less from them !!
