burg and barrel

this place executes on everything! burgers, sides and beer... when you got the basics down, you have a foundation that will make me wanting to come back over and over and over (tater tots for the win). not to mention for a pub, this place can be very friendly to kids as long as you pick good times of the day.

beer!

these folks are serious about their libations and it's freshness. a huge selection on tap and a tote board approach to inventory and pricing. unique to say the least. i wish i was able to say the same about their burgers. i ordered the classique - it arrived unseasoned. the fries were very over seasoned.  my bun had completely fallen apart on the third bite so i left half of my burger disaster and all but a few fries to be carried away. the waitress didn't ask me how my meal was - i was waiting for her to when she looked questioningly at my almost full plate. i'll be back to drink but probably won't come in to eat again.

this was such a pleasant surprise, i can't even tell you. i do not like burgers, and pub food, well, it's just pub food. but this place was a gem. my son had the smokehouse burger, my husband had the spicy avocado burger, and i had the fish and chips. we also ordered chicken wings with the medium sauce, which were some of the best tasting wings i have had in years. they were not over sauced and cooked perfectly. the blue cheese was excellent and the celery was amazingly crisp. next, let me say that the fish and chips were astounding, malt vinegar included. the tartar was delicious, the fries very flavorful. now lets talk burgers. my family loves them and eats them any chance they get. i on the other hand can't stand burgers out. i would rather make them at home and the way i like them. my husband and son ordered them medium rare like always and they were cooked to perfection, bonus number one. but then as i looked at how yummy they looked and at how much they were enjoying them, i just had to take a bite of my husbands (my son had wolfed his down to quick for me to scam a nibble). it is a good thing her was close to finishing the darn thing, because i think i would have eaten the entire burger. yeah, it was that good. now we live in the wichita area, but are in the overland park area of kansas often, and i told my husband that we will come back here and i am definitely ordering a burger. yup, me. by the way, i had a side salad and it was marvelous. it was just the right size and had diced bacon, tomato, onions, and shred cheese along with little mini croutons made from the beautiful buns they use for their burgers and sandwiches. this is an a+ in our book, and that says a lot. (also to note, that the music was not too loud, and it was busy but not over crowded for lunch on a friday afternoon)

the servers were all so nice and attentive. kudos for excellent customer service! the iced tea was awesome too. we don't drink alcohol much but they did have a great selection of beers and such. enjoy!!

above and beyond the great hamburgers/food, the service you receive here, is 'always' friendly / helpful / knowledge (about the food @ libations) & top-notch; it never waivers...

great place!. on a friends recommendation we went in on a friday about 7:15. place was super busy. hostess said they were on an hour wait but we could have drinks at the bar. my husband was pretty hungry and we said we would try it next time until he saw a one the burgers. we sat at the bar had a chocolate ale, some fried goat cheese and 2 burgers. all were superb. bartender was also very knowledgable about menu and beers. i highly recommend and we will be back.

awful food!!! awful service!!!. never again!! service was awful, and the food definitely did not make up for it!!! expensive for what it is!

great food and service. we had a rehearsal dinner in the rickhouse last week. what a hit. everyone really enjoyed it. the food, the service and atmosphere were great. awesome burgers and good variety of other choices. we loved having a separate space for our group with our own bartender. the marketing managers were also great, working with us to create a special menu and pulling the event all together. go there!!! you will be glad you did.

after working in the service industry for 7 years you learn to have more patience and to be more understanding when things happen when you go out to eat. tonight at burg and barrel none of those things were an option. it took almost 10 minutes to even be greated after being seated, our drink order wasnt even taken or brought to us by our waitresses, the food came out completely wrong and had to be returned, my food was drenched in grease to the point where my fries were limp and sogy, and instead of just apologizing the waitress blamed it on the expo girl...which if you've worked in the service industry you know not to throw a fellow team member under the bus because chances are it wasn't even their fault. after all of that the waitress brings us the check before we have even finished our drinks or the edible portion of our meal, which wasnt the case for me since i sent back a full plate that she still charged me $9 for. however she did have a manager give us a $5 coupon for next time, but i will not be going back so it doesnt matter anyways. so terrible service amd horrendous food but oddly enough great beer selection, at least they have something going for them.

spider*. easy to miss on the best burgers in any local
just be the dude and get through the first couple of crunches or tear those baby's off and give em' to ur bud and just eat the "unforgetable sandwich" the spider is pdg with asparagus. was here with a small (4) group on monday night and it the spider was perfect with asparagus. others in the group had burgers and chicken strips with 3 more thumbs up. just right bar-grill atmosphere and excellent service and food. wednesday had to do the trivia night and food and service was just as good with a larger group (16 ish) with reservations and many more other regulars to serve. one gripe (honestly not a problem) some beer's on their displays were not available - easy fix - but an it guy is not 24-7 - or are they? - use tape and printer paper. just be safe and get the it guy - not a ladder!... as long as he hadn't had a piraat already.

best burger i've ever had!. i ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it was so good it didn't need any condiments!!!! the fish looked fantastic too. can't wait to go again! (i live an hour and a half away)

i really wish the burgers were seasoned because i would love them. bun is good just no flavor to the meat. :(

great burgers!. if i had to get real picky the fries were maybe a little over done but honestly dinner here was great! went with a group of girlfriends, service was outstanding and the food super yummy. we spent a couple of hours and the time flew by. i say try it!!!

not good. the burgers were so bland and under seasoned they were also very over cooked (i ordered mine medium and got well done) cute atmosphere terrible service. the loaded fries and the fried mushroom appetizers were good and had lots of flavor. very disappointed about the burgers mainly.
