not a big fan of burritos but this one is great tho. 😉 tried their best seller karekare burrito - it's basically pita bread stuffed with rice flavored with karekare sauce, pechay/lettuce depending on your liking and lechon kawali. they have 3 types of sauces, the usu. shawarma sauce, creamy cilantro and hot sauce. the first two are best mixed together! will definitely go back but not often. medyo nakakasawa yung karekare. they also have pares burrito - haven't tried it yet. 🤔

all the fuss about this place from friends finally came to an end!

on one friday night, we had dinner at this place. my friends had their usual orders.

i had one their quesadillas (118php). the quesadilla was good, it was good for one, not for sharing in my case 😅. almost everything was for sharing, they were all affordable but the servings were pretty hefty! 😉 😲

the ambiance is not fancy but very laid back. a canteen-like feel. the place was quite big and the walls were transformed and painted by some artsy murals related to the name of the restaurant.

we were all satisfied with our orders, there were even half of some burritos 🌯 that we couldn’t finish 😁

i wish there is a branch near me open 7 days a week so i can just go anytime i crave for my favorite chicken ceasar salad wrap!  why?  because it is masawrap!

i have tried almost everything in their menu and brought friends and family and as always, we love the food.

the warmth of the people: from the one who gets your order, to those preparing the food, plus the servers...  that is good customer service!

keep it up!  (and i will keep on coming back!) #dietmomukhamo

the very definition of a hidden gem 💎

i never would have heard about this restaurant if not for an impromptu dinner invitation, and i'm so happy i now have buen comer in my life. i learned that they are quite well-known for their kare-kare burrito, and i'm so glad i had the chance to try it. imagine your lola's kare-kare, put it on rice, mix everything up, and wrap it up and you got a thick burrito of deliciousness. definitely a must try. another dish you definitely have to try is their steak pilaf. perfectly cooked steak slices on perfectly cooked rice - - it' a the best.

while maginhawa street in quezon city is known for its chain of food parks, one must also be encouraged to check out the side streets since you might find a hidden gem there and this true with buen comer. basically, you get to dine inside a garage spacious enough with chairs and tables inside. there, they serve some burrito-based dishes and a few more other things that would satisfy your hunger. we went there around dinner time (7:30-ish) and i didn't had a proper lunch that day so i'm quite hungry and a bit cranky since that's what happens when i get hungry.

i ordered their kare-kare burrito which is essentially kare-kare with rice. they fried the meat somewhat and added the bagoong together with the kare-kare sauce and rice, wrapped into a burrito style. it was really good! the sauce isn't to much but enough to coat the rice inside. the meat, as i said earlier was fried to prevent it to being too greasy. even the bagoong isn't too salty, but you know it's there. you can put some sauce on it of you want and i find the garlic mayo perfect for that. for a price of less than 200 pesos, that dish was all good. i was able to to taste their steak pilaf rice and for a 200+ price range, that would be my second best favorite. soft beef strips on top of rice and together with that special sauce that they provide, you really can't go wrong with that. serving is good enough for me and food was great so it's safe to say that we will be back there soon. just a reminder, they are open on wednesday - saturday only around late afternoon to late evening.

i remember eating here when i still lived in tv west and they had weird operating hours. nevertheless, their food was good. i especially enjoyed the quesadillas. the sauces were also great. i'd definitely go back and visit them again.

buen comer is one of the low-key gems of the up-teachers-sikatuna village area who became known because of word-of-mouth marketing. organic reach.
been hearing about it years ago from my friends who lived in the area. i usually forget to pass by before. when i had the time to try it out...

i must say that it was worth it.

🏖 ambience:
i haven’t been to the latest address so i have to pass on this one.

🍽 food & 🍹drinks:
solid food taste! i am a solid kare-kare critic because it is my favorite dish and i’m happy to say that i like buen comer’s “kare-kare burrito”. haha! tried the chicken quesadilla too. the cheese tasted good. :d

💆‍♂️ service:
with the current setup on their latest address, not sure how the service goes.

🚳 parking:
can be challenging since there are no allotted parking slots.

🌏 overall:
food taste solid. must try and is worth the travel if you are a mexican food lover.

the best tex-mex restaurant in metro manila and possible the philippines! buen comer has the best price to taste ratio, sobrang mura nya for the quality and servings that their food has. i've tried a number of buen comer's dishes and i always go for either the chicken burrito or steak and fries wrap. the s&f wrap's steak is juicy and very tender while the fries is just cooked to perfection. crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. the dishes are always spiced right and matches well with their garlic or cilantro sauce. buen comer is the best bang for the buck that comes with excellent tasting food. around 160-250 pesos for a burrito.

best for a night out with friends

what to eat: japanese style fried chicken with rice + fries (sinful but one of the best meals ever!!!)

con: open air, so you'll be exposed to cigarette smoke from other customers 😢

i've been here few times already because i love their burrito especially their chicken burrito and the staff are always accommodating. however, i never dine in because the place is always packed.

for my very recent visit, i opted something different...something i've never tried before even from a different restaurant. i ordered their peri-peri chicken with dirty rice.

this is the first time i'll be eating peri-peri chicken so technically, i don't know what to expect. all i know is it's going to be something with a lot of spices like chillies, pepper, probably some paprika and the like.

the verdict, the chicken tasted a little tangy and a hint of spicy but it's flavorful. i liked the dirty rice, it's similar to cajun rice. the dish was good and i enjoyed it a lot same way i enjoyed their chicken burrito.

i heard their chorizo taco with mango salsa is a must-try. until my next visit. 😉

super good food at reasonable prices. my only recommendation would be to improve ventilation as it gets hot due to the spicy food that you are eating.

a recent hole-in-the-wall discovery.

it's surprising at first to note that people flock to this place, given that it's tucked away in a quiet street away from the bustling maginhawa food scene. i had my first bite of kare-kare burrito and i instantly became a convert.

other noteworthy fil-mex food offerings are: nacho potato crips, chicken caesar salad wrap, taco spring rolls, peri peri chicken with dirty rice, japanese chicken wrap, and beef pares burrito ( i have yet to try other menu options but i'm sure they're all good).

service can be slow as everything's made from scratch and the place can be quite busy from the time they open at 4pm until they close at 11pm. the dining area can get really hot and humid and although they provide an ample amount of electric fans, it can still be taxing to dine there - best to be dressed in thin garments when you opt to dine in.

serving sizes are big and the distinct fil-mex (caesar salad / kare-kare / pares in a burrito, helloooo) flavors are so good, you're sure to forget your name for a second. another notable thing is the fact the prices are so low, you end up wishing the owners (who are very warm and friendly, by the way - i've chatted with some of them) would impose a price increase - and they already have (not drastically, don't you worry) but it's not exactly a letdown as the food is really good.
