bub's burgers & ice cream

get some waffle fries and attempt the burger challenge,  i ordered the big uglyelkburger and it was very good.  i just barely managed to get my picture on the wall.  i would definitely come here again.  nice people and nice clean facility.

after watching man vs food we had to come try the "ugly" burger here at bubs. the entire place is filled with photos of people who have managed to finish the one pound burger in one sitting. the more you eat the bigger the photo , very well marketed idea. our server was very sweet she started off by telling us about the different sizes of burgers and gave us a lot of instances of people who went on to eat the pound burger. she also suggested some burgers which weren't on the menu which were her favorite and we actually went on to ordering them. i had the creole burger in the "less uglyelk" size 6 oz which had cajun sauce withelkmeat instead of the beef patty. the cajun sauce was de-li-ci-ous. i couldn't stop eating my fries with the sauce. the burger was so good that i relished it till the last bite. the one pound burger didn't taste as good as ours since it had no additional sauces or dips. so i would definitely suggest trying the elf burgers if you don't have a very big appetite. the chocolate milkshake was also one of the best ive tried full of flavour and i would substitute beer for it anyday. and one thing that surprised me was they give you the jar in which it's made if all if it didn't fill up in the glass which i've never seen in any other restaurant. loved the whole set up if the place and would love if they had more outlets around indy.

we love bub's! i was first introduced to this great burger place at their store at iu. conveniently located on the monon trail for those living in carmel. great burgers and fries for a great price. service is always so friendly and attentive. they haveelkburgers, which is fun to try if you're adventurous! i also recommend their delicious ice cream for dessert.

this was a spur of the moment stop late on a sunday afternoon. no wait, greeted quickly and sat right down. very friendly waitstaff. kids had the 1/8 lb burgers with bacon and american cheese and i had the the 1/2 lbelkburger cooked medium, creole style with pepper jack cheese and cajun mayo spread.elkwas very juicy and flavorful. the cajun mayo was ok. the menu consists pretty much of beef and elkburgers in four different sizes. there are some side dishes to choose from, such as onion rings and loaded waffle fries. good place to go if you're in the mood for a burger. they also have a full ice cream parlor, but we didn't have room for any dessert this trip.

worth the wait.. first visit was on a friday that was a holiday. the atmosphere of this location made the hour long wait not seem as bad. the wait for food was long, too. the tables contained games, which sort of helped the wait, but only a little. (huge hint to bub's: we would have loved a deck of cards! i know, i know, i'm asking a lot, but, just a thought!) we were afraid this would be just "another burger joint." surprise! the food was very tasty. as the only non-burger eating guest, i was afraid my chicken would be an afterthought. it was one of the best blackened chicken sandwiches i have ever eaten. the waffle fries were tasty, and i do not like crunchy fries. the 1/2 lb. burger was a little much for dad, but, he still enjoyed it. theelkburger was enjoyed. my only complaint about the food was lack of honey mustard for my chicken. seriously, i had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find a complaint! service was decent, prices were decent, food was excellent. if we were near that area again, we would return! thanks for a wonderful meal. however, i would not get the ice cream again. it was average, buy it at a gas station ice cream, with typical, clueless, teenager run service. not a plus. selection of ice cream was mediocre, and quality was meh.

on the burger side of the equation, bub’s is famous for two things: itselkburgers and its big ugly burger, a full pound after cooking of either beef orelkthat actually counts as a challenge on its own. finishing one of these mammoths earns the eater a picture on the wall, and the size of the picture increases with each burger you consume.

sweet potato waffle fries and marshmallow dip!. when asked if we wanted marshmallow dip with our sweet potato waffle fries our answer was f*** yeah! i have had a lot of variety of good foods in my life and this was hands down one of the greatest things i have ever eaten in my life. i crave it at night and want to drive the 2 hours to get here again. theelkburger is a must have if you love burgers (i did mine med rare, and i think i did the half pounder, which if you are unfamiliar with the place they weigh the burgers after cooking, so if you order a 1 lb burger you get a 1 lb burger. i have not heard of any other place doing this). just amazing. this place is a favorite for a reason. i only wish they had a location closer to me.

my 15 yr old and i had dinner there last weekend. there was a 15 min wait and we chilled outside and watched people go by on the monon trail. we were seated at a 2 top and got prompt service from our young waiter. i got the "settle for less" 1/4 pound burger with cheddar and my son got theelkburger. he got reg waffle fries and i got the sweet potato waffle fries. i'm a huge burger snob and i try all i can from local joints around the country (i travel for work). this is by far one of the best hamburgers i've ever had. soft, fluffy bun with crunchy buttered/grilled faces, juicy, high quality, well seasoned patty cooked perfectly and real cheddar chz. i get mine plain so i can really taste the meat and they are so so delicious. the waffles were hot and crispy, delicious. people talk about the sometimes long wait and i'd remind them it's busy for a reason - it's really, really good! go and put your nsme on the list and then relax outside. your food will be worth the wait.

i tried theelkburger tonight... half pound and i stuffed my face and left an empty tray :-)

good burger!. theelkburger tastes like a lean hamburger. lightly charbroiled. very good. the sweet potato fries are tasty. going back soon and going to try to get my pic on the wall for finishing one of those ginormous burgers next time. ;)

bub's is a carmel gem!. i live in carmel and i can say this is one of the best restaurant in carmel. it's not just the delicious burgers, its the locations, the family atmosphere, and the general friendliness of the whole place. my suggestions, theelkburger, waffle fries, and any milkshake. a local tip: there is always a wait here, no matter if it is a monday or a saturday. a good tip is to call ahead, you can call ahead up to 25 minutes which usually cuts you wait time to 0-10 minutes.

elk burger. when i'm in indianapolis and it's nice weather i usually try to eat here. it's right along the monon trail and has outside seating.

i haven't gotten past theelkburger & onion rings. although, i've heard others say the dogs are great.

basically, the menu consists of food that you can get at a dairy queen or one of its generic knock-offs. that is, they serve burgers, hot dogs, fries, waffle fries, corn dogs, milk shakes, chili, etc. the only unique thing that i saw on the menu was theelkburger. i asked our waitress what kind of beer they had on tap and was surprised that they have none. only bottles. for a place trying its hardest to look like a college hang-out, i was surprised to hear that. i ordered an iced tea, instead.

elk burger is awesome!. the onion rings andelkburger were insane good! walk on the monon and the smells will lure you in as soon as they hit your nose. yes, it is as good as it smells!
