bub's burgers & ice cream

a trip back in time! i'm 64 and these burgers and milkshakes taste like those we used to get at the diners and drive-ins we went to in the 50s and 60's. the flavored and textures are wonderful. the atmosphere is a cacophony of noise making conversation impossible but the food more than makes up for it.

good food, fun atmosphere. not sure that bub's lives up to the hype, but it was a fun place to visit and a pretty good burger. we've tried to go twice before on weekends, and there's generally a 30 to 60 minute wait in the summer at least. definitely a fun place to take kids.

long wait for a good burger. i chose to take up the big ugly challenge for my birthday meal. the burger was good (i finished!) as were the onion rings, and the staff were great. unfortunately, i doubt we will be going back due to the long wait times to get a seat.

good burger!. the elk burger tastes like a lean hamburger. lightly charbroiled. very good. the sweet potato fries are tasty. going back soon and going to try to get my pic on the wall for finishing one of those ginormous burgers next time. ;)

bub's is a carmel gem!. i live in carmel and i can say this is one of the best restaurant in carmel. it's not just the delicious burgers, its the locations, the family atmosphere, and the general friendliness of the whole place. my suggestions, the elk burger, waffle fries, and any milkshake. a local tip: there is always a wait here, no matter if it is a monday or a saturday. a good tip is to call ahead, you can call ahead up to 25 minutes which usually cuts you wait time to 0-10 minutes.

still like it. used to love bubs, although we've been there enough times its not a big thrill---- but bottom line, they still do a really good job

you know youre going to have to wait on a weekend night, but the kids that work there seem to do a good job of getting people seated as best they can

and this time, as we stood outside waiting for a table, a girl came up to us and asked us if we wanted beers. is there anything better while waiting for a table than to have someone come up to you and offer you a beer?

the burgers--- as always---were consistently good, and the food came as quickly as you'd expect. they never seem to mess up your order at bubs.

unfair. i say this, because it really is just unfair that a restaurant has the ability to combine (not only helpful service) but an uncanny selection of delicious flavors... when it comes to the burger world at least. i had heard about this place from, where else, "man vs. food", and knowing of my proximity to the area, i couldn't help but travel out of my way to give it a look. upon arrival, and inquiring of the "big ugly"--which is 1 1/2 of meat, cooked down into a pound, with a 1/2 pound bun, one stick of butter per bun, 4 pieces of cheese, and the wonderful hamburger toppings.

i was truly in awe, wondering about how amazing this burger would be, and i was not let down in any fashion. after we had finished being enamored by the plethora of past "big ugly champs", we then stared at the large foe before us. taking up the entire plate, although, it wasn't as huge as i remember on the television show.

without care, we prayed for thankfulness of the heaping portion, and (being the connoisseur of heat that i am) i doused it with some tableside tobasco on top of the pepper jack cheese, to heat it up some more. sinking my teeth into the first bite was fantastic, and by the time i had finished the challenge, i was in awe. not as much at the size of the big ugly, but more at the phenomenal taste i experienced. i started to wonder about the people who had eaten 2 or 3 in one sitting, and decided it couldn't possibly have been due to the challenge itself, but to the incredible grilled flavor of the burgers. they were succulent, juicy, and perfectly cooked. i cannot even fathom how much love was put into this burger. all four at my table agreed, they were either, a) the best burgers we had ever had, or b) one of the absolute best burgers we had ever had.

please try this place if you are anywhere near the vicinity of carmel, and also, the waiter said there was another location in bloomington... which is closer to home, and should be beckoning my name at some point in the future. they are fantastic, and overtly worth taking a look.

great burgers!!!. bub's is just terrific for hamburgers and most people know that, but they also have a great mahi sandwich and very good soups in fall and winter. outdoor seating on the monon trail is a plus. i come here often and am never disappointed.

couldnt ask fo rmore. bub's has it all. weather you are looking for good service, good food or good times, i can guarentee bubs will please you. the attractive and attentive wait staff is incredible, something you cant find anywhere. we were greeted by our friendly, young waitress within seconds of being sat, had our drinks within literally two minutes, and our order was in and on our table within 20. we were very pleased to say the least. i highly recommened to anyone. you wont be disappointed

i really enjoyed the potato salad. it was called “loaded potato salad” and had baked red skin potatoes, scallions and bacon mixed with a tangy mayo type dressing.

good burger. we visited on a holiday weekend so i guess we shouldve figured on an hour wait for our food. it was just very surprising since the menu is mainly just burgers and fries. the burger was very greasy but loaded with flavor, and the waffle fries were also very tasty. i wasnt very pleased with the onion rings though. they were soggy and undercooked. the inside dinning was very loud but the staff was very helpful and went out of their way to please. next time we will eat outside & try to make it there during the week when its less crowded.

delicious!. my boyfriend and i stopped by bub's burgers on our way to a family gathering. when we arrived, it was very busy and we second guessed stopping for a quick meal. despite being told that we would have to wait 15-20 minutes, we were seated within 5-10. our waitress was very friendly and provided excellent service. i ordered the quarter-pound burger and it was quite possibly the best burger i have ever eaten. very moist and flavorful. the only downfall was the wait once we were seated but even that wasn't too terribly long. i would highly recommend eating here :)

slow slow slow. i recently went to bub's on my lunch break with a few co-workers. we were sat outside towards the back right corner. there were two other tables there. we sat there for 15 or 20 minutes before a server finally came by and told us she'd be right with us. usually that'd be fine, but she had passed by us quite a few times constantly helping the table next to us.

once she finally came over and talked to us, it took about ten minutes to get our watered down milkshakes and we waited 25 minutes until we finally got our food. it was my first visit, and irritated from the start...i got a chicken sandwhich, it was cold and small (not worth the price at all). i had to rush to eat, and requested our bill be brought to us after our first bite because we were on a time crunch.

i wouldn't request this for anyone, unless going for ice cream because that's instant service. i will take my money and business to detour or red robin, where i'm actually getting quality service and a hardy meal portion.

one of the best burgers in town hands down! can be a long wait, but that's for a reason. great food, friendly service!! well worth the wait!!
