from la, better than we have!. thisplaceis gold! if you are not from the west coast vibe then you might be disappointed. this is uber-popular, fast-paced, high-quality local seafood! lots of noise, super great service, move and get outta' the way attitude. if you want a nice leisurely meal go elsewhere. this is rock n roll seafood! and.. it was awesome!

had steamed clams, clam chowder, and the best cioppino ever made! i also got two free glasses of wine for my wait! (the manager had a beard and made theplacereally run well).

maybe one of my favorite places of all time!

lived up to the hype!. we went there during the high traffic holiday season. while we waited for 40 minutes at the bar they were very nice and in fact gave us two free glasses of wine for our small wait (the handsome bearded guy my wife loved......yes he was a great host). but that is not the subject. i went with their legendary clam chowder followed by the fresh steamed clams! my wife had the also legendary italian seafood stew cioppino, which was out of this world. we were so impressed. we have had the "best" in many city's many times in our lifetimes, many equal this experience but none have exceeded it. 20 stars out of 10.

omg, great seafood, great harbor dining. best new england clam chowder we've had in a long time, you know, creamy, tasty and no skimping on the ingredients. seafood pasta was so very delicious with plump tasty shrimp and scallops. we sat outside along the knee wall looking at a travel photo view of the harbor fishing boats nearest and sail/power boats and yachts a bit further. all the vivid colors of the boats, rental kayaks, shimmering water and the well heeled hillsides of santa barbara served as a visual prelude to the delightful tastes to come. the unloading fishing boats nearby spoke to the freshness of the fish we ate. thisplaceis one of those harbor fresh and delicious seafood gems that delight your taste buds and not just your surveying eyes. how good was it? we're going back a tonight and we only have one more night in santa barbara. yuuuuuuummmm!!! looking forward to it. aside: one of the waitresses was humorously taken by my black tee-shirt and the beer, stick and donkey navigation/gps system depicted on it that she "took a picture for the internet."

meh.. the only thing i liked about thisplaceis their location. the view of the waters is great. forget about everything else. first of all, the wait for a table is terrible and there really isn't aplacefor customers to wait. we got a beeper which in theory is convenient but we found ourselves waiting out in the open one hot afternoon. the food is sub par. expensive, small portions. not the kind that i would recommend. the servers were also so busy i almost choked on my food because no one came to even refill our drinks. i am definitely not coming back.

always great. my friends and family have traveled to santa barbara for years, and one of the highlights is always a trip to brophey brothers. theplaceis always packed, and the food never disappoints. we love their mussels, clams, and fried calamari. honestly, anyone who had a bad meal must have really been unlucky, we have never been disappointed! highly recommended.

ojai pepper jelly maker. brophy brothers...
the only restaurant that i love to order shrimp at- true!
love the 'beer-boiled' shrimp in pickling spices,
but even more i love the 'fried' shrimp with extra horseradish in my cocktail sauce & certainly a beer or the occasional bloody mary- being that i'm originally from sb, i have a specialplacein my heart for that sweet harbor, but i also love going to the ventura restaurant. either place, the staff is always friendly, always consistent, & the food is continually delicious and fresh-

not a bad first impression. i've heard locals talk about thisplacefor a while, and finally tried it. the view is fantastic - santa barbara harbor is an invigorating environment all on it's own. but the restaurant adds another level of excitement.

went there for lunch with an associate around 12:30pm on a wednesday and theplacewas packed. granted, it's tourist season. we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a tiny table on the patio with a primo view. accommodations are tight. if you're a larger person, you may find the seating to be too constricting. otherwise, you're going to enjoy yourself.

i'm not a fried food junkie any more, but decided to take a chance on their fried calamari plate. i was pleasantly surprised. yes, it's a heaping plate of fried calamari and french fries. but it wasn't dripping in grease. the french fries were very crisp and not soggy. the calamari was lightly breaded/fried and had a slight spiciness to it. it was remarkably light tasting as fried calamari goes, so i could actually enjoy the flavor of the seafood and not just grease and breading. i didn't try the cole slaw, but it appeared appetizing.

their better dishes are a bit on the pricey side for lunch - $20 on average for their real seafood dishes. their offerings for roughly half that are limited to non-seafood items or fried seafood items. my colleague ordered their fish and chips and seemed pleased with his fare also.

i'd like to try some 'real' seafood here sometime, and this first experience was good enough to make me want to come back. albeit not for lunch in august.

my expectations were high after hearing so much about this place. the food was good but i was a little disappointed after being told this is the bestplacefor seafood in santa barbara. the clam chowder was slightly bland and the swordfish was mediocre. nothing really stood out to me; i have had better seafood elsewere in california. i may give it another shot and try something different.
