brophy bros.

quick lunch. i didn't have as much time to enjoy myself as i had hoped so i went in and just got aclamchowder and split the calamari with a friend. bestclamchowder! i am very particular and don't like many of them but i love brophy's chowder. be sure you don't get caught up on the bread they use to distract you when they're busy, the calamari was tasty when it came but a little too doughy. worth it for theclamchowder though...when can i go back?!

when trying to decide where to eat in a new city, we ask around a lot.  sometimes we get a lot of different suggestions and sometimes we get one restaurant recommended over and over.  such was the case with brophy brother’s restaurant andclambar in santa barbara.  we were told that we had to go there and we had to get theclamchowder.  being good tourists, we did what we were told and it was perfect!!

from la, better than we have!. this place is gold! if you are not from the west coast vibe then you might be disappointed. this is uber-popular, fast-paced, high-quality local seafood! lots of noise, super great service, move and get outta' the way attitude. if you want a nice leisurely meal go elsewhere. this is rock n roll seafood! and.. it was awesome!

had steamed clams,clamchowder, and the best cioppino ever made! i also got two free glasses of wine for my wait! (the manager had a beard and made the place really run well).

maybe one of my favorite places of all time!

lived up to the hype!. we went there during the high traffic holiday season. while we waited for 40 minutes at the bar they were very nice and in fact gave us two free glasses of wine for our small wait (the handsome bearded guy my wife loved......yes he was a great host). but that is not the subject. i went with their legendaryclamchowder followed by the fresh steamed clams! my wife had the also legendary italian seafood stew cioppino, which was out of this world. we were so impressed. we have had the "best" in many city's many times in our lifetimes, many equal this experience but none have exceeded it. 20 stars out of 10.

omg, great seafood, great harbor dining. best new englandclamchowder we've had in a long time, you know, creamy, tasty and no skimping on the ingredients. seafood pasta was so very delicious with plump tasty shrimp and scallops. we sat outside along the knee wall looking at a travel photo view of the harbor fishing boats nearest and sail/power boats and yachts a bit further. all the vivid colors of the boats, rental kayaks, shimmering water and the well heeled hillsides of santa barbara served as a visual prelude to the delightful tastes to come. the unloading fishing boats nearby spoke to the freshness of the fish we ate. this place is one of those harbor fresh and delicious seafood gems that delight your taste buds and not just your surveying eyes. how good was it? we're going back a tonight and we only have one more night in santa barbara. yuuuuuuummmm!!! looking forward to it. aside: one of the waitresses was humorously taken by my black tee-shirt and the beer, stick and donkey navigation/gps system depicted on it that she "took a picture for the internet."

my expectations were high after hearing so much about this place. the food was good but i was a little disappointed after being told this is the best place for seafood in santa barbara. theclamchowder was slightly bland and the swordfish was mediocre. nothing really stood out to me; i have had better seafood elsewere in california. i may give it another shot and try something different.

best bloody marys. downstairs serve the best bloody marys we could find in santa barbara. make sure you ask for the "one eyed jack" special w/ a jumbo prawn. honestly... upstairs the bloody marys are terrible.... get them downstairs

the food in the restaraunt was good. theclamchowder and scampi were excellent. good service too. get there early or just drink the "one-eyed jack bloody marys" downstairs while you wait.

brophy brothers is a great restraunt with amazingclamchowder.

clam chowder is amazing!. be sure to order theclamchowder from this busy harborside restaurant! while waiting for your table, go downstairs to the newly renovated bar (it used to be theclambar) for appetizers and drinks. the bartender wears an eye patch and is a real character with a heavy east coast accent! get the hot combo platter and any of the shrimp appetizers. be sure to try all the sauces that come with each dish. also recommend the shrimp skewer, the wild coho salmon, the seabass and even the burgers are good! and did i mention theclamchowder?

bestclamchowder ever. they have a good seafood menu, and the marina is fun to explore while waiting for a seat. the real reason i kept coming back again and again was the new englandclamchowder. i loved it. it was like ambrosia.
