if you want to be talked down to and given attitude by the manager, this is the place to go!. booked my birthday here last saturday.

on my booking (open table) i advised that i would like 2 more seats added, from 8 - 10 and to contact me. well i get there and politely ask if they could add two more seats. the manager sighs "ughhh, i wish someone would have told me", i said i put it on my booking, her response was "we do things verbally around here, stand at the bar".

then, our server says to us, "i hope you aren't in a rush because you won't be eating any time soon". wtf.

two of my friends bailed, meaning in fact i didn't need the extra seats, the waiter asks, i advise him and he rolls his eyes and says great.

then my friend asks if they had a different section for appetizers, the waiter replies, "you're staring right at them" small plates they're called, not appies and walks away.

we've been there about 20 minutes now, three tables who came in after us we're given bread to tie them over... we weren't even offered.

he comes back, we all had drinks already, i told him the service was horrible and that we we're going to go somewhere else. sure, he apologized and said "oh your food won't actually be that long, you should just stay". i told him no and asked for the bills. the manager then comes over to another girl at my table and asks what the problem is, she didn't even address me, the same lady that sighed! pretty sure she was completely out of it because then she went into the kitchen rubbing her face and that was the end of it.

so if you're looking for the hoity toity, stuck up staff and manager, this is the place to be! would never recommend thisrestaurantto anyone!

hello friends! it’s summer and that means patios and happy hour. least that’s what it feels like with some of my friends. vancouver’s been having heat wave after heave wave this summer so on one of the sunniest days of the year we decided to head into brix and mortar for some bites and bubbles. brix used to be it’s own separaterestaurantbut when they decided to combine two restaurants together, it became brix and mortar.

located in the trendy yaletown district of vancouver, brix and mortar is arestaurantserving modern canadian fare along with creative cocktails and an impressive fine wine list.  therestaurantis inside a 1912 heritage brick building and is known for its charming atmosphere.  joyce (vanfoodies.com), david (vancouvergourmetclub.com) and i decided to grab some dinner at brix and mortar recently.

we decided to try brix & mortar on a whim. we cannot stress enough - from the very moment we walked in to the time we had to leave, the staff was great and offered the incredible service.

therestaurantfeels very comfortable with a nice mixture of modern and classic design elements - descent use of wood, exposed brick with strategic lighting.

the food was fantastic. everything was cooked to perfection.

their menu has a strong emphasis on locally sourced and organic ingredients.

overall, we recommend brix & mortar for yor special night out.

my guest invited me here to celebrate my birthday. she took the time to go through my blog, in search of a destination i have yet to visit, and this was what she came up with. located in gastown, we took advantage of the warm weather with a seat on their patio. a couple of chairs behind a wood planked wall, on cobblestone. from where we sat, we got a good look into therestaurantthrough its open windows. our setting outdoors was also dressed up. they had the same crystal chandeliers hanging overhead and some regal looking ivy, creeping down red brick.

with brix and mortar, the menu and the atmosphere reflect an upscale casual vibe that’s both traditional and contemporary. therestaurantactually consists of two separate rooms. when we arrived at the main entrance on homer street, we were told by the doorman that there was a wedding function and that we would need to walk all the way around the block to the other side of the building on hamilton street. a minor inconvenience, but an inconvenience nonetheless. calling ahead to clarify might be a good idea for next time.

rather strange experience - would be cautious to return. visited brix last night for dinner and wanted to try out their first seating 3 course menu for $29 last night but was rather disappointed that a taste of yaletown event was going on for a similar 3 course menu for $35. i expect that the change should have been communicated on their corporate website so that expectations are matched ( and that there are no surprises). we went for the taste of yaletown 3 course menu and food was great! i just had an issue with my hot water as my lemon wedge was pre-squeezed and left on the cusp of my glass but my hot water had no lemon juice in it. it must have been that they reused a pre-squeezed lemon wedge for my hot water which i find to be very disturbing. this should not have happened at arestaurantlike brix. i had to send the hot water back to get a new one and no apologies were made. also, there was a slight disappointment when our complimentary bread was served cold in nice white napkins and a very nice container. although i know not all restaurants serve their bread warm, but i guess i was slightly disappointed. overall food was good, but the experience was somehow lacking and rather disappointing.

brix is a trendy and high-endrestaurantlocated in beautiful yaletown. i love yaletown because of its brick roads and its delicious restaurants. all the best restaurants and bakeries are in this neighborhood. *cough* ganache *cough* i had the chance to go to brix this winter for the fine dining event organized by the food society.

personal fav.. i will keep this short and sweet..my favoriterestaurantin vancouver! i have yet to be disappointed. i always leave thisrestaurantin a better mood. so tasty! beautiful atmosphere, great staff!

great staff good food. the host was very nice and offered various options. we ended-up sitting on the other side on the terasse which is a less "posh" atmosphere with the same menu. the waitress wasn't afraid to go back to the kitchen to verify the contents of drinks and/or meals, guided us nicely on a good choice of meals and drinks and therestaurantaccommodated my vegan girlfriend (the pasta was made from noodles) with a nice mushroom risotto. overall it was a very pleasant experience.

i have been living in yaletown for 10 years now i came to a  shocking realization that i have never been to brixrestauranton homer st. i have walked by hundreds of times, admiring wedding reception held at rustic/fairy-tale like courtyard setting. now, we have decided to give a try that is long overdue! we were lucky to be seated at courtyard area without having reservation. however, it's definitely dim and romantic setting, so this would be food bloggers' nightmare for taking pictures! white: tolloy pinot grigio 2010 red: seven terraces pinot noir 2009 starter: caramelized lamb shoulder i have to say this dish was definitely my favourite. the lamb was cooked well-done and how it is slightly burnt (or caramelized) outside was just perfectly complemented by sweet & savory sauce. i don't know what it is, but the sauce had some kind of fruity tone to it. also, garlic chips, red pepper and delicate veggies all worked well with the meat.  main 1: duck breast with foie gras terrine i am no

listing includes "vegan friendly". aside from a green salad (whatrestaurantdoesn't offer one?), there is nothing on the menu that is vegan friendly. so as to not waste the time of folks looking for actual vegan dining options, please remove brix from that category.

for a special yet casual late night eating in yaletown, i would recommend brix. the ambiance is just great for an intimate night out with someone special or if you want to impress your hot date. pricing is standard for an upscalerestaurantso obviously do not expect budget eats.
