doesn’t have too much of a curb appeal, but once you walk in, it looks great. not many deli’s out there with this level of quality. their servers and helpers keep yourfoodcoming quickly and your drinks full. i liked they checked in often.

thefoodwas great. both meals we received were top notch.

great, consistentfoodevery time we visit. my second favorite jewish-style deli (the first being in san diego where i grew up). the matzo ball soup is great, as are the jewish appetizers. the menu is enormous, which can be overwhelming, but it has something for everyone. i also love the chicken stuffed cabbage, with two options for size. definitely a solid option for deli food. and they offer catering!

oy gevalt! we’ve heard a lot lately about how jewish delicatessens are a dying breed in new york. but here in la, delis are holding their ground, and perhaps even thriving. yes, iconic deli junior’s in westwood closed at the beginning of the year, but it was immediately replaced by lenny’s deli, which doesn’t seem that different. while adventurous angelenos love checking out restaurants that serve exotic cuisines they are not familiar with like bolivian, laotian and napalese, many don’t realize that beyond the sandwiches and bowls of matzo ball soup, jewish delis offer delectable eastern european specialties unfamiliar to a lot of foodies, especially non-jews. below are some of my favorites. as for the best places to consume these dishes, there are many divergent views in the la jewish community, which reminds me of the saying “with two jews, you get three opinions.” brent’s (in northridge and westlake village) is my favorite jewish deli in the city and has the bestfoodoverall. i als

better than saul's or junior's. being in nor cal, i have to go to socal to get a good deli fix. i've been going to junior's forever and like the place but their rueben doesn't compare to brent's. probably the best of it's kind i've ever had and i've sampled far too many of them in my time. nothing fancy just very goodfoodwith decent, friendly service. i'll be going back...

89%? really?. i don't understand how this place gets such good reviews, it's not amazing or cheap. i went there with visiting family, we're all 20-something college students, and none of us were impressed. it was super busy around noon on a sunday, so we decided to get takeout. after it had been a while we asked if ourfoodwas ready, and apparently ourfoodhad been sitting pretty for at least five minutes and no one had bothered to tell us. when we got back to my apartment, the verdict was that the tuna melt was okay, my cold turkey pastrami sandwich was just a crapload of (admittedly tasty) meat on bread, and the egg salad sandwich tasted like someone had farted in his mouth. and the fries were kinda gross, and the pickles were basically vinegary cucumbers.

not going back again.

real drek and pricey too!. i've eaten there three times over the past two years. in my judgment, thisfoodis so lousy that it seems impossible that it could be either cooked, eaten, owned or operated by my fellow jews. the chicken soup is unspeakably bad. the potato pancakes are overcooked with second tier sour cream. the bread is also lousy. i think the only people who eat there and love it are those who have never eaten real deli and don't know any better. this is clearly the worst of the long list of infinitely better deli options in the la area.....from canter's, greenblatt's, nate & al's, art's deli, jerry's, factor's and langer's. these guys at brent's are getting away with murder. imagine having an egg cream made with 2 percent milk or water. ok? get it now? they violate the three tenets of a good deli: chicken soup, bread and sour cream. if these aren't good, all hope is lost. eh..what's the big deal...we're not curing cancer. however, if you're desperate forfoodand everyone else is closed, i'd recommend it. otherwise, hold out for mres.
